Anyone had a problem where the game "hangs" after completing races or exiting the UCD? I haven't been able to get the home screen back at all just the GT logo in grey colour on a black background. I've waited as much as 5-10mins and still nothing.

Disconnect from the PSN, many have the issue where the game seems to hang while searching for the server. If not to fix your issue, just to exclude it from the troubleshooting :)

This was happening to me quite a bit about a month ago. I had it happen again two or three nights ago. If you use the PS button to bring up the XMB, you can sign out of the PSN. Immediately after signing out the game loaded the next screen. I signed right back in and didn't have the problem again.

Oh so many threads.....

I don't think 1.10 is the problem, I think it's a combination of custom BGM and the 3.66 update.

Many other users of both this game, and others, have noticed stability issues (hang ups, frozen screens, etc.) since 3.66 was released.

Kaz has tweeted that PD is working on stability on their end, but as usual there's never a timeline.

A cursory glance at the billions of threads posted here daily about this issue leads me to believe that

A- yes, they know about it.

and...

B- yes, they're (Sony and PD) are working on it.

After wasting 30 minutes last night trying to gift a damn museum card, I understand the frustration at not being able to enjoy what we paid for. That being said, at the moment, there's also not a lot we can do about it.

For "preventative" measures, please do the following:

1. Clear your system cache.
It's in your Network Options. No evidence that this helps, but it has been known to improve loading times in the past. If your PS3 talks to PDs servers, clear your system cache daily.

2. Disable custom soundtracks. Kaz mentioned this in a tweet a few weeks ago. Again, if your PS3 talks to PD servers (online races, Seasonal events, Remote Racing, item gifting- even the free paints and cards, etc.), you'd probably be better off listening to the car anyway. Most have reported a noticable improvement with Seasonals after doing this simple step.

3. Reset your internet connection before playing. See that power cord on the back of your modem? Yank it, then replace it BEFORE you power up your PS3 and access the network, let alone play GT5.

4. Pray to deity of choice. Might seem blasphemous, but who else are you going to call? (Ghostbusters is too obvious) Maybe YOU will be the lucky one Jesus/Mohammed/Allah/Xenu/Santa/Tooth Fairy will answer, and maybe they'll grant your one wish to fix your games and PS3. Probably not, though.

If all that fails, proceed to Sony customer support. They're about as useful as #4 anyway.

Good luck

It's seemed a little unstable to me in terms of network ever since the PSN came back. It seemed to be getting better but it's starting to go wrong again in the past few days, but nothing too bad either way. I don't use custom soundtracks because my PS3 doesn't have any music on it worth playing. I never clear my cache though, and I never reset my wireless router unless it stops working.

With that out of the way, I did seem to notice an increase in issues. Choppy/echoing mics everywhere (mine seemed to work fine when people could be bothered to pay attention).

I had a "no violations found, but entry refused anyway" error, which I don't usually get. When I tried to enter again, I got disconnected. As I recall, I lost my entire connection to the PSN at that time.

I was caught in a room "self-destruct", which as I recall hasn't happened to me since before the PSN went down. Suddenly a bunch of people started leaving without any parting auto-messages, then I got disconnected. I found the room again later, it had only three people in it.

Weird stuff.

When this happened to me, it did save progress anyway. I think it's saved instantly when you leave the track.

I completely disabled the internet connection and played the game offline. After attempting the special event X1 challenge on Suzuka, I quit the event only for the game to "hang" without returning to the menu screen. Yes the game data did save but any items you're rewarded are only given at the home screen then another auto-save is initiated. Without getting to the home screen will I still get the rewarded items??

With the internet connection off there should be no attempt made to PD servers. Can anyone shed any light on this problem?

Ok, there must be an email address somewhere for Polyphony Digital. They should have a contact in the UK...

This has started to occur more often to me as well. Just log out of PSN when it stays in the loading screen for too long. 👍

Thanks! Didn't think of that.. >_< This problem's been getting on my nerves.. Guess I should disable my custom music as well then.. :/

Getting disconnected just after multiplayer races are completed a lot as well.. :( Very annoying.

That contact would be called "Sony" :)

Sony are the publishers of Gran Turismo 5, they did not design the game.

This method has been tried and tested but unfortunately does not resolve the problem. I have played the game offline and still encounter the problem. My guess is, it has something to do with a flaw in the latest patch update.

This...

Exactly, they are the publishers, the ones dealing with the public ;)

I wasn't that serious in my post anyway, but I believe you have to go through Sony to actually communicate with PD (unless you know japanese, then you can try Kaz's Twitter). ;)

edit:
I think it's up to the publisher when it comes to support. For example, Europe didn't get any patch for 3D dot game heroes because it was a different publisher then the other regions. I don't remember which publisher it was, but they didn't feel like doing the QA for Europe so we were left out in the cold :(

Personally I wish they would get rid of all this Region nonsense :)
