The exclamation mark in the thread title makes it look like an exciting event. I think it's a bit misplaced if I'm honest.

2 deaths so far.

Yeah I agree, but I don't know how to change it. If a moderator could remove it I would be grateful.

How the hell does putting an exclamation point at the end of the topic title make the Oslo bombing exciting?

Terrible tragedy though.

There's now some reports on a shooting by a man dressed as a policeman at a labour party youth organization but no indication wether it's related to the bombings. Apparently the man had claimed it was a routine inspection due to the terror attack.

Edit: There are reports that at least 5 people have been shot by the man dressed as a policeman.

I just heard now, aparently the news channel I keep on in my office is a bit slow to react.

I mean if you were to make a list of safe places Oslo would be way up there.. Crazy world..

Very bad news. It's very sad to hear news such as this. I wouldn't expect to see this sort of thing happening in Oslo.

That frigging sucks. I guess with (possible) terrorists dressing up as police officers, there is NO ONE you can trust.

There are also reports of a gunman opening fire.

As mentioned earlier in the thread. There are eye witness reports now claiming 25-30 people shot dead but it's highly unreliable. Let's hope it's not true.

I don't really understand why Norway has been targeted in this way, I could understand other European countries with a bigger military impact on foreign affairs.

Terrorists probably upset with Norway for having troops in Afganistan as part of NATO.

Or maybe because of the militarys involvement in the bombings over Libya.

As a recent update: 25-30 people are assumed killed in a shooting at a political youth camp at a place called Utøya outside Oslo. This is confirmed as a related event to the carbomb in downtown Oslo. The shooter was dressed as a police officer and wore a bullet proof vest.
There are also so far 7 confirmed casualties in the bombing. :guilty:

If you are in the main "Opinions & Current Events" section, you can double click next to your title and it will let you edit it that way. Handy little feature. :dopey:

There are two major suspects so far! Gaddafi loyalists and Al-Qaeda.

Another piece of new is that witnesses mention a suspicious person in a police uniform at the bomb site only minutes before the bomb went off. Possibly the same person that is behind the shooting.

There are also theories that it's about oil...

What sickens me EVEN more is the shooting and killing of young people in Utöya.
A person dressed as a police went to this camp not far from Oslo and killed upwards to 30 KIDS. Yeah you read correct, there are reportings of up to 30 kids/adolescents KILLED.

So far 10 people have been confirmed killed at Utøya. Let's hope that number don't get any bigger. :nervous:

I first heard about the news on the radio at 6:30 BST, I thought it happened in somewhere like the Middle East. When I heard Norway, I thought, "Did someone bomb one of its embassies?" Truly shocking news.

I'm watching the news and they're showing footage taken by people at ground zero. It's like watching an outtake of Cloverfield. Utterly surreal.
It's difficult to try and stay on top of things, new info keeps on coming in.

Very disturbing. I had been expecting something of the kind in Denmark, because of the cartoons, but not in Norway. All my condolences to the families involved.

Norwegian papers also published the cartoons. I'm thinking this is to do with the guy they were threatening to deport - he did say that he would kill if he was deported.

R.I.P to the dead, my thoughts to the families and friends. My best wishes to the injured.

Could this be the beginning of far-right terrorism?
