Latley, I and many others confirm that online drag racing in Gran Turismo 5 has become more popular and will continue to be so. Multiple renown clubs and teams have been created providing quality tunes to those who are in need of them. Therefore I am wondering if a new section is to be created similar to the "Drifting Forum" dedicated to drag tunes, cars and events. Doing so will take out much of the "drag talk" in the Q&A and "Tuning Section" forums.

Please comment and let me know what you think :)

Drifting is not an official event in GT4 yet there is a drifting section...

I had this same thought a couple of days ago and I have to say mod squad, I have to agree with Lightning here. For the past few months now, the GT5 Tuning Forum has turned into the GT5 Drag Forum, with the amount of different people requesting tunes for specific cars, or others which are putting up drag tunes. Now, this doesn't bother me personally, but I know some of the other guys are sick of having to troll through the 20000 threads regarding requests for particular tunes (eg. Viper ACR, Enzo, Veyron & Speed 12) before they can reach their garage or to update others with the tuning competitions that are going on around here.

Another option I felt was to lift us out of that drudgery and move us to a dedicated "GT5 Garages" section where you will find all the tuning garages together in one spot, rather than the 20000 requests for tunes and if people request in that area, then the thread gets locked and people directed to specific garages for that tune. It's difficult I realise from your end guys because you have put the effort in to make the tuning threads (such as the "every tune exists in here" thread) stickies to make it easier for the noobs to access us, but I feel that it's either not being looked at enough, or people are just ignoring the basic protocols of internet etiquette (and the AUP) when they come on here.

Is there any way we can find a solution guys without it turning into one big 🤬 fight??

Thanks for the input. It's getting a bit annoying going searching though the tuning forum looking for drag threads. Seeing that PD is allowing users to make millions in minutes, people have turned more to online events and dragging seems to be a popular one.

Easily solved by creating a "Drag Tunes" general thread, where all the drag tunes have to go. I do see it becoming more popular, but I also think it's something that won't last long and isn't quite popular enough to warrant it's own section.

Drifting is entirely different, because it's actually featured in the game.

It is defiantly possible that PD could add a drag strip in future updates. Either way, go look in the tuning forum & question and answer forum at any given time and you will see a good number of the threads have something to do with drag racing. For this reason I believe it deserves its own section.

Well, we already have a "drag tunes" thread, and that ended up turning into a free-for-all between the big boys of the drag tuning world, with us at GME, Wolfpack, LightsOut, ProSpeed & others all discussing what's been happening on PSN in the drag rooms, not to mention the ever raging debate of whether indy or ssr7 is better.

Drag Racing was in GT4 through the Las Vegas 1/4 mile, but we didn't need a section then because there weren't 20000 people asking for tunes, and the people who were posting in the 1/4 mile thread weren't going to share either. Now however, we don't have a legitimate drag strip yet you have more people than ever asking for drag tunes and this time, you have people like us who are actually putting out drag tunes which are being well received by the general GT playing population. Go figure.

Well, PD underestimated the interest of drag racing big time, how could they miss out so bad? So, what have you to say, all anti drag racing people? What do you have you to say Kaz?

GT4 didn't have official online gameplay, though. With the lack of a drag strip but introduction of online play this shouldn't be surprising.

I think that will be AWESOME have a Drag section of GTP.I see more Drag rooms than drift rooms in Gt5,but here is isn't the same.I think there can have a tunning help for tune drag cars and have a team section for drag teams.

Even if I haven't done a single quarter mile pass in GT5 I'll still agree with the need of a drag section for the exact reason mafia_boy mentioned, the GT5 Tuning section seems to have more drag tunes/requests than "normal" tunes. It would be a lot clearer for everybody of there was a separate place for them, if only a subsection under Tuning.

An alternative could be to add more descriptive tags to the tuning subforum, such as Drift-Request, Drag-Request and Race-Request (or circuit?).

Maybe there could be drag and drift tuning sub-forums, inside the tuning section.

This is the "Help Desk" section. But it appears that all the staff are no where to be seen....

If there was a dedicated drag racing mode in GT5 I think it would be added 👍

This is probably the first time I've ever agreed with R1600Turbo.:dopey:

Have a drag section for a game that doesn't have drag racing doesn't make much sense. I'd rather see them lock the "drag" threads as "not GT5 related". 👍

I'm a huge drag racing fan and it's the only type of "real life" racing I've done. I grew up within 20mi. of two drag strips and ran every Saturday night when I was younger. Next to F1, NHRA is my favorite racing to watch on TV. BUT, there is no drag racing in GT5 and what you call drag racing is just something you enjoy doing. Some people use GT5 to try to do wheelies and I've seen thread asking how to tune a car for that, do we need a wheelies section?

Why not enjoy GT5 for what it has and if you want drag racing, buy a drag racing game. GT5 has NASCAR and F1 cars too, but they are very poorly done, if I want to run those types of races I do it with a game designed for them.

First, GT4 had a drifting section despite having no drift mode whatsoever (it was another thing people just enjoyed doing but a noticable enough at that) and second, those threads are undoubtedly GT5 related.

I could care less about drag racing, but

That is ridiculous. Not GT5 related? Drag racing is all over GT5. PD does not need to descend from the clouds and degree it as an official mode for it to exist

What GT5 is, is a racing game. One with cars and tracks. That just so happens to be enough to get a drag race. No need to look for another game, drag racing is already in GT5. Whether or not PD intended it to be there or not is completely irrelevant. The same goes for NASCAR and F1.

I don't do much drag racing, but I would love for there to be a sub forum in the GT5 section for it. It is a popular thing online and it will continue to grow, especially if there is a sub-forum made.

Perfect example. Online is a place where people can get together and do whatever they want. Dragging is one of the biggest of these events, sometimes rivaling even racing.

People also seem a bit biased to drag racing. They oversimplify it when they have never tried it themselves. I don't know why so many people look down on it.

And on the second day God said let there be Drags!.

Actually, it was on the evening of the first day, because the temperatures were cooler and better for boosted motors.

👎 They ARE GT5 related because we ARE on GT5 doing straight line races with eachother, be it at Indy Road Course, Top Gear Test Track, Special Stage Route 7 or any piece of tarmac with a decent straight, and if you can't see that, it's not my issue. It's STREET RACING, not DRAG racing and this is what I keep arguing with people about. STREET RACING isn't perfect, has flaws due to lag and other issues but it's the best we have got at the moment.

The people asking for wheelie tunes is about 0.1% of the people who are asking for help drag tuning, be it for setups or general tips or to publish their own setups. The GT5 Tuning Section has more drag threads than any other type of thread at the moment, even more than the garages. As for real life drag fanaticism, I was that into it I was given media passes each week from a major car magazine here in Australia to go down to Eastern Creek & then WSID to report on it. Even today, being nearly 1000 miles from there, I still watch the runs each meeting thanks to people like rotorg33k and FPV097GHIA videotaping those meetings. 👍

Well, you can buy four games then. I'll stick with GT5 and enjoy all facets of it. 👍

EXACTLY!! Thankyou my finnish brother from another mother!! :D

My thoughts about it would earn me an extra 10pts. in my infraction box.

I will be adding a GT5 Drag Racing forum soon.

It's up! Enjoy, guys.

If you've got some drag-related threads spread around, please help out by consolidating them there. Remember you can move your own topics (instructions here).
