Ever since installing the 1.11 update, I’m having problems with seasonal events. When crossing the finish line, the race never stops. The total time clock keeps spinning. All cars stay in line, travel about 50 mph, and can’t be controlled. The start button just pauses the game. I can’t even quit the game without doing a hard restart on the PS3. Am I the only one having this problem?

What you are experiencing is bizarre. Try clearing your cache in the settings menu. Make sure all your USB are connected properly, disconnect non necessary stuff.

Are you using a wheel? If so, try shutting down, disconnecting it and using the controller to play. If that fails I don't know what else could be happening, sorry.

grashopper
Might want to try turning off your custom music too if you have that on.

Mine was buggin' out when I had it on so I decided to turn it off. Now I have the sweet sound of engines as my soundtrack. Not bad.

This problem has been happening for a few months now so I don't think it is related to the 1.11 update. Had this happen to me a few times and I've always had my driving music off, so I'm not sure about grashoppers fix but it does work for some people. It only affects the current track you are racing, so I never race the same track more than 5 times. There is no clue this is going to happen till the race is over and it won't finish. Its not limited to seasonals, and my heart goes out to people that have this happen after an endurance race. :banghead:

I can't race any seasonals, A spec is fine, can't cycle the licences, practice crashes every time too, so can't tune or test. I have given up now.

Cleared cache and I think I already turned off music, but I'm not sure. I can find my music library, but I cannot find the setting that let's me turn on/off custom music. Can someone point me in the right direction?

BTW, clearing the cache makes not difference. I can also confirm the issue is not just with seasonal events. I was racing online in a room a friend of mine created last night via the Open Lobby. After racing a while I backed out to cancel my entry and switch cars. As soon as I tried to cancel the race, the system locked up again. I could see the lobby of the room, but the selection pointer was nowhere to be found, and I was basically locked-up (again). Had to do another hard restart.

I'm about to bail on Gran Turismo for good. GT4 was buggy and GT5 isn't much better. Features, tracks, cars, etc. don't mean diddly if you can't seamlessly play the game without worrying about loss of data or system crashes.

After more research, it seems this issue has happened to others. Founf the following solution in the GT5 forum on glitches on the PS3 website. It takes a while, but so far so good for me.

Deleted the Game data
Backed up my save data to a flash drive
Deleted the Save data
Rebooted the PS3
Reinstalled the backed up save data
Redownloaded/installed all the game data (again)
Cleared the game cache

what d heck same things happening with me but just started today..... but in a different form

Try backing up your personal game data, then delete the game install in the GT option menu, reinstall game and it should run like new again, if not -a full system restore is probably needed. Another option is to go into the systems menu and rebuild your hardrive and database. If you play alot your game install is probably corrupted overtime.
