Getting Banned....

Alrighty...this is now my 3rd account I've created besides my existing (and now banned account) but I'm pretty keen to get this point across.

My normal account (MitchZ06) is currently banned and it would appear permanently because I called someone an ignorant fool. Pardon my stupidity but how is that so offensive that I should be banned immediately? About a fortnight earlier I was banned over the weekend for calling a generalized group 'muppets' and quite frankly I was astounded that such a statement would be cause to be banned. Previous infractions had also been scored for stating such things as 'wogs' and 'JAFAs' which really blows my mind that I received a banning and not just a general warning.

Is it just me or do some mods take their power too far and abuse their right to give people the boot? Can someone please explain to me how calling someone ignorant for obviously asinine claims should be treated as though I've just punched someones mother? Or how muppet has suddenly become an act of war?

Trust me I enjoy these forums but some of the blatant abuse of power by some of the mods (locking the Forza 4 countdown thread for reasons the GT5 countdown thread should have been locked for but wasn't) is just grinding my gears right now.

Can my current banning please be reconsidered? If I'm not reinstated it just proves how much of a joke some people here are....

Abusive? Pretty much the only example I can give is calling the member an ignorant fool, hardly abusive in the context.
Hateful? Yeah need some proof there.

Attack any individual or any group? I'm sure being called a muppet doesn't equate to an attack...
 
Once the staff sees your statements (which would be taken by most as offensive), they usually act with an appropriate response. For example; my temporary ban for a simple joke of putting "Banned" as my title was justified by the assumption that I wanted to be banned. I accepted it without retaliation, seeing that there was a reason for it. You should too.

If you were good enough, you would attack the idea, rather than the person that the idea originates from. There is never an instance to call anyone a name for which they do not want to be called, unless stated otherwise by themselves.

Were you asked why you put that as your title or just banned on the spot? That's proof that the system is flawed.

No communication and just handing out bans is what dictators do, for some reason this forum gave a different impression...

If I were to call you an ignorant fool in person would you want to throw me off a bridge? What about being called a muppet? I've been called both and I haven't told the person to never talk to me again nor felt offended by it.
 
Machate used a special character to use the word 'Banned' otherwise the user title comes up with '******', so he knew that he shouldn't have tried to get around the rule.

Also creating a new thread under your new account isn't the best thing to do. It probably would've been better to VM or PM a mod, or directly contact Jordan...

It didn't exactly need an explanation, but I was surprised at the response. I was expecting this to happen eventually, and learned from it.

They are not dictators; any decision usually goes through more than one staff member before any action is taken.

And why are you still here? Justifying your banning only means more heat from the staff:sick:

IMO a valid reason, given the circumstances.

If this were for the Mods, you would've seen that conversation through Private Messages is the proper way to do it, rather than a public thread for all of GTP to see and post upon.

Trivial? If calling people 'Muppet' and 'Ignorant fool' isn't acting in an abusive manner, I don't know what is. You never, never, seem to know the difference between arguments and personal attacks from what I've seen.

As for us lot answering? Who said we couldn't express our opinion on this matter? This is a forum, if you wanted privacy, you'd have taken it to PMs.
 
It's often worth remembering that the vast majority of members here get through their time at GTP without receiving warnings and infractions and that the vast majority are perfectly happy with the way the forums are run, and are happy to stick to the rules.

If you're receiving warnings, infractions and bans that should be your incentive to change whatever it is that's encouraging these penalties, rather than complaining that the penalties seem too harsh.

The fact that you realise you've been calling people names should imply that you know what it is you have to do to not get infractions and bans.

You're posting in a public section of the forum. If you don't want the forum's input, talk to moderators directly via PM.
 
There are 7, that's Seven, warning and infractions on Mitch's homepage, yet you still don't get it. If you want reasons as to why you were banned, look back over your previous 7 warnings/infractions for some clues...

You were given more than enough warning that your aggressive posting style is not required or wanted here. You chose to ignore all of them, blindly continuing to attack people and, as such, were banned. You have no one to blame but yourself.

Let's just clarify... you abused another member - by calling them names. This isn't and never has been acceptable. You weren't banned for calling someone an ignorant fool at all, you were given your sixth Infraction (over two accounts) for the exact same thing. We keep telling you that abusing others is not acceptable, you keep abusing others.

That was your fifth Infraction for the exact same thing. You clearly hadn't learned that abusing others wasn't acceptable after four previous Infractions and one temporary ban for abusing others.

The first being a highly offensive term of racial abuse, the latter being a geographically specific term of racial abuse with an expletive in it. They were your first and third Infractions for the exact same thing.

It's just you.

You keep abusing the same rule. You keep abusing other members. You keep doing it despite five previous Infractions for doing it and five different moderators telling you that it's unacceptable. You've been banned four times - two temporary bans for 9 days in total, one permanent ban on your original account and one permanent ban on an account you made during your first 7 day ban.

If giving someone who is that determined to break our rules that many chances to change is taking our powers too far, I'm Jamie Lee Curtis.

When you joined the site (each of the multiple times you've done it now), you clicked a little box to say "I have read and agreed to the Terms & Conditions" (or equivalent). The fact that we've had to get involved - had to - in your posts here eight times speaks volumes about abuse of power. Your abuse of the power to post agreeing to our AUP gives you.

Only where the punchline is someone who's had eight Infractions (six for breaking the rule about not abusing people) and five bans (three for breaking the rule about not abusing people) thinks other people are in the wrong for requiring him to stick to his word.

For those unfamiliar with Australian vernacular, the term JAFA is actually an incredibly derogatory acronym for our indigenous population and probably should have earned you an instant and permanent ban. If anything, we have been very lenient and given sufficient warnings that the behaviour was unacceptable.
