Sounds like this will be the next time trial and drift update as the current ones are closing then.
 
Something tells me that the vast amount of server activity is a good sign, especially since we know Spec II and DLC are incoming.

If this was a week later I would have suggested a shop icon in GTLife for the upcoming DLC what with the PSN Store updating of a Thursday it could be plausible.
 
I have read that cross-game chat is just not do-able on the PS3 due to lack of system RAM. I think it will be something else, to be honest.

Cross-game voice chat is not possible on the PlayStation 3 because of memory restrictions, Sony has revealed.
The PS3's RAM is gobbled up by the games it runs, which prevents the much-desired feature from being implemented, Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida told Eurogamer.
"Once a game gets RAM we never give it back," he said. "It's not possible to retrofit something like that after the fact."
As revealed by Eurogamer yesterday, PS Vita, due out in Europe early next year, actually has more RAM than the PS3.
Vita has 512MB of RAM and 128MB of V-RAM, compared to the PS3's 256MB of system RAM and 256MB of video RAM. This enables features such as cross-game voice chat to run in the background while games are being played.
On the PS3, however, things are different.
"The game has to use its own memory to do [in-game voice chat]. There's always voice chat in the game. But it's a part of a game feature. It's not a part of an OS feature. That's the reason in terms of the ability to have voice chat across different games."
So, voice chat is better on Vita than PS3?

the maintenance could be something to do with the video but i was thinking that maybe the new HOME is coming for us that live in the EU on that date
 
Cross Game Chat can't be done... but this trailer got me thinking, maybe it's CGC just for Sony exclusives that are after a certain date. Seen many exclusives in there. Though it's not realistic thinking. I'm probably just in denial that CGC isn't possible xD

This GT5 downtime I expect won't be anything major, probably prep for Spec II.

Yea that's been clearly stated by Sony. I really don't get the big deal about it anyways. Honestly someone explain why it matters, as far as I can tell it's pointless

Lol yes. Only if this holiday was on thursday, because I don't have school at wednesdays, and only one class at friday...damn.

Speculation is part of the human being. If it didn't exist, we did not have nothing to suport our lifes toward the future :) However, it's a pain in the arse :p
 
In relation to the GT5 Server maintenance, could they be prepping for the Spec 2 release? The PSN servers will be down anyway so why not use it to update their servers. It'd also give them time to adjust and tweak ahead of the release so we dont end up with major bugs...

Remember how when cell phones/texting became a normal thing?

Well, Cross Game Chat will let people chat with you, even if they're playing a completely different game (bombs going off, headshot MOFO!). We'll never have peace alone with GT5 if we get it.
