Im sure Jordan can answer this accurately, but i think its so it doesnt clog up the server. Dont quote me on it though :nervous:

It wouldn't clog up the server if signature images could only be from sites such as imgur.com etc. instead of uploading images to this server (I don't know why forums do that anyway).

Damn what a sour puss, I don't understand his logic behind it.

He could limit it to 1 image per signature, and a size limit, so people could actually express themselves and support their teams (I made a signature for my drift team just to find out I couldn't use it :nervous: )

I only use my siggy for my GT5 info, so I don't mind about images.

Images are disabled because they are unsightly, ugly, and useless. I can't stand using forums that do allow them

What's not to understand?

A forum becomes unreadable when there are images in the signatures.

My "logic" is very straightforward - I don't want to see the same images plastered over and over and over again while reading through a topic. It's distracting, cluttered, and not the experience I want anyone to have while browsing my site.

I understand why we want to "express" ourselves with more rich imagery in our posts - that's just human nature. I'd have an image in my own signature if they were enabled here, but I'm honest enough with myself to admit people aren't reading the page because they want to see an expression of my interests, my affiliations, or my personality - they just want to read my thoughts on the subject as quickly as possible and move on to the next page.

Likewise, when I'm reading a thread, I'm not usually interested in everyone's drift teams, their favorite bikini models, or their favorite GT5 Photomode images - I just want to see what they have to say about the topic at hand. If I do want to know more about someone, I'll take a closer look at their text signature or their profile.

I don't know about y'all, but I wouldn't call "smart" a question that has been asked many, many times before.

And it would be just a matter of time before some idiot would put a garish, flashing .gif in his sig. Bad enough that we have them in avatars.
