Hi, this is my problem

Today i started gt5 to continue my suspended 4hr endurance race, everything was going normal, i was 3rd and getting closer to the leaders but 1 lap later when i pass through the finish line suddenly from being 20s behind the leader now i was like 8 minutes!!!

i was like "wtf??" but i thought that in the next checkpoint it'll be everething fine but it doesn't, i've done 4-5 more and i'm still a lot minutes behind (and i think that i actually passed the leader car, it's only a time issue)

and the leader it's not the amuse s2000.

PS:sry for my english.

what can i do?

Carry on driving:

Endurance races based on time and not distance will classify a car that has completed the time before completing their final lap temporarily ahead of a car that is still on its final lap and has not yet finished if it has completed the same number of laps.

So if I'm on lap 27 when the time finishes, any car that crosses the line to complete its 26th lap - the same number as me - after the time has finished but before I finish my 27th will be temporarily classified ahead of me. This isn't an issue as the race doesn't finish until I do, and when I do I'll be classified ahead again. It is an issue for the AI though, as they can be on their 27th lap when time expires and the player can complete their 26th, be classified ahead of them and immediately "X" through the screens to retrieve the 1st place money and XP.

It's technically not incorrect - if a car on the lead lap breaks down after the time has elapsed but before it can cross the finish line it should DNF and the car that completed the most laps in the time before DNFing is the winner. It's just that it can be exploited by the player.

Since it only applies to timed races and you have to complete the same number of laps as the lead car after the elapsed time, it's not a brilliant exploit as you still have to drive the same distance - which means, 4, 9 or 24 hours of working at it either way.

thx for your answer.

english it's not my native language so excuse me if my question it's redundant.

if i've the finish line ahead but the race have still 2 minutes left, shall i cross the line and do another lap or i've to wait that 2 minutes and then cross the line?

Cross the line and complete another lap or you might loose.

At the 4hr nurb, I waited 20 min or so at the finish line utill it got 0 min left. But I was driving a 908 and they were a lot of laps behind

Yeah just keep going and finish the last lap, whatever number you're on. When I finished the 4 hours I parked on the front straight for about 5-7 seconds waiting for the clock to strike zero, I wasn't going to lap the 'ring again for want of a few seconds remaining on the time limit...

damn, in the last lap i was at about 4 minutes behind the leader and then i'm suddenly 10 of 12, then when i crossed the finish line i came back to the 2nd place, but not first!!!

i've just lost 4hrs!!! because a car lapped me out of nothing!!

arrrggh

I'm not seeing the problem. You were second, then the time expired, then the cars behind you finished their races, then you finished second. If you want to be first, you need to be ahead of the leader, not "4 minutes behind" them.

the problem is that magically the leader won an advantaje of 8 minutes, something impossible.

I'm not following you.

You say you went into the final lap 2nd, 4 minutes down. You ended the race second. That doesn't seem to be an issue to me.

As for timing gaps, that's explained by the same process that causes cars to be temporarily placed ahead of you due to finishing their lap after the race time had expired. Your timing gap is always measured as gap behind the lead car or the gap ahead of the second place car. In this case other AI cars finished the race and the leader of these was temporarily ranked first - your timing gap would thus have been the gap behind this temporary first place car, which finished its race 8 minutes before you finished yours, until the actual lead car finished and your timing gap was measured to that.

It's not a bug, nor a glitch. It's how timed endurance races work - when time expires, cars are ranked as they cross the finish line. As cars further back on the track but which have travelled further in the race finish, they are then ranked ahead of the already finished cars.

the problem is this.

when i was at 2 1/3 hours i was 20 seconds behind the leader (i was first a lap earlier but i entered to the pits) and then after the finish line checkpoint instead of +-20 secons the game shows that i'm 8+ minutes behind the leader.

Why!!! when did that car won 8 minutes, it's impossible!!

But i decided to continue the race thinking that it was a normal problem, but... not, i finished aprox 4 minutes behind that magic car.

Did you happen to save your 4 hour race?

I think that if you watch the ending of the race you will see that the race ended just as Famine explained above.

I have now run this Endurance race over 25 times and have seen exactly what Famine has explained above ..... that on your final lap, the game will temporarily place some cars ahead of yours when they cross the Finish Line (since they finish their final lap after the 4 hour mark was reached), but then they get dropped behind yours on the scoring grid once you complete your final lap. I actually have a thread about this somewhere.

I'm making some assumptions here, but from your description, I think you were racing against the Audi R8 and what I think happened was the following:

1) At the end of lap # 27, you cross the S/F line in 2nd place about 4 minutes behind the leader of the race.
2) You begin lap # 28 since the 4 hour mark has not been reached.
3) The race clock reaches 4 hours when you have driven about 1 minute into lap # 28.
4) The 3rd place car crosses the S/F line after completing its 26th lap and gets temporarily shown as the first place car and your car gets dropped down to 3rd place on the scoring grid.
5) Over the next few minutes, as you continue driving, the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th place cars all cross the S/F line after completing their 26th lap and your car drops down the scoring grid to 10th place.
6) After 5 minutes, the car that was ahead of you at the end of lap # 27, crosses the S/F line after 28 laps and wins the race (I think that this car was the Audi R8, but I might be mistaken).
7) After another 4 minutes, you finish your 28th lap and jump from 10th place to 2nd place on the scoring grid.

You didn't finish 4 minutes behind any "magic" car. You finished 4 minutes behind the same car that was leading after 27 laps, who crossed the S/F line 4 minutes ahead of you.

Oh god is my english that bad?? Lol

Yes i suspended the race a lot of times and yes i did had that problem about being 10th in the last lap.

But that its not my "main" problem, the glitch that i'm talking about it's that i suspended the race being 1st by just a few seconds, when i resumed the race and changed tires and all that stuff and get out of pits and then passed the next checkpoint i was like 40 seconds behind a car that passed me while i was on pits, all that lap was normal i was getting closer and closer, by the last chckpnt i was at 20 secs but here comes the problem...
When i crossed the finish line and started this new lap (at the middle of the race) the car ahead wasn't 20 seconds ahead, it was 8+ minutes ahead!!!
WHY???

An it wasn't even the s2000 the fastest car on the race!!

Thx again for your time
