Can we please get some of these options up in here? A-spec and Seasonal Events could desperately use these tools of goodness:

-A.I. Characteristics *

-Visible Damage on/off *

-Mechanical Damage on/off

-Tire Wear / Fuel Consumption

-Grip Reduction on wet track/off track (real/low/off)

-Slipstream Strength Adjustment **

-Weather/Water/Time Adjustment *

-Head Tracking with Playstation Eye (I know, it's barely implemented even in arcade, but this would be a big deal if done properly)

.
(* denotes a spec 2.0 new option)
(** denotes Online Only)

Throw in an Event Creator and maybe an update that turns the A.I. into something resembling race-drivers and this old girl could be firing on all cylinders!

You're right- Said it myself just a couple of days ago...

Allow the use of "real" settings and in turn players would receive more money and experience for competing in these events. Players who prefer the game as it used to be could keep playing on "standard" settings with the current rewards. It just seems odd for the real driving simulator to ignore damage, penalties, tyre wear, fuel consumption, competitive AI, weak slimpstream etc., when these features have been integrated. It's just wrong that you have to be in an online lobby or Arcade Mode for the ability to explore all the realism combined at once. Furthermore, entry restrictions for the events should be overhauled for both A-Spec and B-Spec. It makes little sense that we have to use a Nascar in the Nascar event when the Super GT event only restricts the car choice to a Japanese car. A-Spec events should also make use of tyre restrictions just like B-Spec.

Heck, PD could even quietly give the A.I. opponents 'Sports Soft' tires and restrict the player to 'Comfort Soft' tires -or any contrast/combination like that- and they wouldn't even have to overhaul the A.I.

:trouble:

Of course it would be imperative that qualifying should return to this great racing franchise, so we could have some realistic on-track battles instead of having to pass eleven opponents like we're doing a license test...

..think I might need to make a "feedback" topic/suggestion for this.

Arcade is worthless and Online is a mess. GT Life is the business. :sly:

Totally agree! They also need to add in an option to display all the ASpec races I can do in my fav car, at the moment I just run the same track over and over cos I dunno which other events that car can enter. Can't be bothered clicking on each event to see if it can enter, takes too long.

+1000:tup: Really wish the offline experience was a bit more interesting. OK, alot more interesting.

The current A-spec might be good though if you just want a quick race. I can also imagine that A-spec can suit beginners pretty good, because the concept is pretty easy.

What I want is a C-spec, a more realistic simulation mode. Here is what I have in mind:

- Longer races, much like in B-spec.

- You have more options to create a team, for instance you can create a team name (which would be displayed on your car), and you can perhaps add a second car to the race with a B-spec driver. Select a racing suit style for your team, which your pit crew would also have. Maybe even an option to select a few sponsors, and their decals would be added to your car...

- For endurance races the possibility to add your B-spec drivers to your team, so you can do for instance 24 hours of Le Mans in real time without having to drive on your own for 24 consecutive hours.

- A standardized system to make sure that your car and the opponents cars are equal in performance, no overpower.

- Qualification

- Tougher and faster AI that makes you having to fight for every position. They also makes mistakes sometimes, just like real drivers in a real race.

- Random mechanical failure in endurance races, both for you and the AI. Things that breaks after many hours of driving without necessarily having been caused by a crash. So the car have to enter the pit for repairs (which could take minutes or hours, depending on the problem).

- Option to compete in different classes in the endurances, for instance, all cars in Le Mans 24 hours aren't in the LMP class, it would be nice to try a GT class. So instead of a grid of 12 LMP cars, there could be 6 LMP cars and 6 GT cars. Same in Nürburgring 24 hours, to different classes on the track and you chose which one you want to enter.

- The rewards could be like in A-spec, I'm imagining C-spec as events you do because they are fun, not because you need to grind cash and xp.

- Also, while A-spec is all about levelling up, C-spec could use the license system instead.

Your C-Spec vision exactly what I'm waiting for...

I want to feel this "racing spirit" through a "real career" mode like that...

It's truly disappointing because content, graphics, physics are so good, and it's seems so simple to implement these features and make GT5 a real, real better experience...

(keep my hopes for GT6...)

I wish PD could hear us and understand that... ;-)

^^ you sir are a genius and I have EXACTLY the same thoughts. A spec is so messed up. No feelign of actually progressing through a career. Teams would aid this, as would longer races where you have to actually think about tyre choice, fuel etc. Its so important in real racing and not at all present here. I just dont get why the restrictions on cars in absent in A spec...it is simply STUNNING that they let this happen. I mean the PP is online, so why not A spec? It blows my mind and makes A spec races boring.

And alittle off topic but seasonals are getting annoying as you are fored into using a superior car in order to overtake 16 cars in 5 laps....i mean..... come on! where is the point in that? I should win if im in a good car so there is little satisfaction.

Anyway, great post eran

It's called A-Spec with improved features (except for license system which always was the worst part in GT), and we can also have money and XP for arcade.

Sounds like a cross between GT5 A-Spec and Racedriver GRID...

Not sure I'd be so pleased if i'd done 15 hrs of Le Mans, with a small lead, and my car broke down for an hour or two though. Most people are unlikely to have the time to race a 24h race more than once (mine is likely to take about a month just for one race - currently 6 hours in after 6 days).

Generally good ideas - I wouldn't think adding the same options for A-Spec that already exist in Arcade/Online mode would be that difficult, since they're already there.

A more competitive AI, realistic tire grip, and longer races where tire wear and pit strategies become a factor would really spice things up!

your method of 1 hour-per-day for the 24 hour endurance sounds about like how I would be forced to do it.. :indiff:

-which is precisely why all of these things we're discussing would be options. You can turn each setting on or off at will, however you like.

hahha yeah.... this is what all of us would like to think! :ouch:

Totally agree with this, no point in upgrading the A spec unless we can do qualifying, it's little more than an arcade game starting at the back every time and passing the other cars like mere obstacles

yea, arcade mode feels realistic against A-spec events and seasonal events, if i cant play online i just play arcade or make endurance races, the only fun of a-spec.

they should make an option like in gt2, to make a championship, just choose a car of your garage and then make a champioship, options to choose type of cars for A.I. and tracks.

it will make an endless game

edit: this is all gt5 needs to have good seasonal (a-spec) events

Agreed. We need an event generator with all the options from Arcade mode... and with the awards being proportional to what we've configured (Money and XP) as it's wit online prizes...

That's all i want... and i think this would not be something so difficult to implement ...

If they don't want to expand the A-Spec anymore, so give us this Event Generator and its all OK!

Yeah I said the exact same thing a few days ago in a post somewhere. We definitely need all those options in A-Spec.

Another entire career mode extension with expanded XP up to 50 or 60 or more would be cool too.

I was really hoping for something like that in Spec II, I was a little surprised we got absolutely nothing towards more A-Spec career.
