Hello guys,

I've been reading this forum for 2 years now, but this is the first time I have set up an account since I finally need help *crys*

I know there are alot gaming wizards on here so hopefully someone can reassure me or help me resolve my problem.

Basically I have a G27 racing wheel, (a new birthday gift). Now I'm really starting to get frustrated as the wheel seems to turn itself. This happens alot on straights. For example, I'm doing the Formula 1 GT championship on Extreme and on the first race as soon as I hit a straight going like lets say 170mph I let go of the wheel to see what happens and the wheel will forcefully turn left/right/left/right, until the I grab the wheel to stabilize or let it eventually spin out of control.

I know about FF but common really?! Are wheels meant to spin and jolt left and right on their own accord?

I look forward to some helpful responses and I will provide further information if needed.

What you are experiencing is the so called wheel wobble. This wobble happens mostly with gear driven force feedback wheels. This wheel wobble is caused by the force feedback motors wanting to produce the feel of the wheels and road surface that one should feel through the wheel as well. Since there is a bit of space in between the teeth of the gears gripping each other, the wheel starts to wobble as the steering wheel tries to keep itself centered on the straight simultaneously as well.
This is also caused a dead-zone in the gaming world. A zone in which the wheel doesn't behave or behaves erratically.

Now, the solution to the wheel wobble is simply. In the game settings set a slight dead-zone to the steering wheel. Then the wobble should be gone.

I hope this answers your questions/worries?

ps. Congrats with your birthday and present. I hope you'll enjoy it ;)

Edit: wooops... I read that event as being a whole game. lmao. Sorry. Energizer is correct below me. On PS3 it isn't fixable, it is on the PC (doesn't influence usage on PS3!).

It happens only with GT5 and, unfortunately it's unfixable.
It occurs with almost all wheels (Fanatecs and T500RS excluded) because of a fault in GT5's FFB.

The problem is that GT5's FFB signals strive to sent road signals but at the same time autocenter fuction kicks in so the wheel becomes a huge pendulum.
And since you can't add deadzone on Logitech wheels this problem is permanent.

Now, I've used a G25 and I must say it's horrible! The wheel wobbles with every car and not just F1/X2010, my advice is this:
Lower the FFB, use the wheel for a bit so it warms up and FFB gets weaker and then turn up the FFB.

But what amazes me the most is this:
Most of the fastest GT5 drivers out there (mainly GTP's Division 1 Gold) use G25/G27/DFGT so I can say that this wobble doesn't effect your speed, it's annoying but you'll get used to it.

By the way - welcome to GTP and enjoy your gift, it's a great wheel you got there. 👍

Actually the Fanatec GT2 does it too.
If you have any drift added via onboard settings then it's wheel wobble hell lol.

Deadzone 30 completely eradicates it.

Deadzone 30 is crap though. Lol.

Wow! Just Wow! Thank you so much guys. I will post a longer reply later as I have to go out now - but I thought it would be bad of me not to immediately say thank you for your kind responses. Thanks alot :D

Hm, I guess you can try increasing the deadzone, I guess the wobbling is caused by the spring so increasing the deadzone should help.

I owned G27 for 1 year and now sold it, great wheel for the money.

You can't adjust deadzone on G27 on GT5/PS3, you can do that only on PC or with Fanatec wheels.

Energizerrr is correct, you cannot adjust deadzone on G27 in GT5. And yes, most of the fastest GT5 drivers including GT Academy drivers use this wheel. it's mostly the driver, but if wobble was an issue they wouldn't be able to pull off those fast times.
I have a g27...yes it wobbles so i don't let go of the wheel. I've never had issues with it and didn't have any problems completing the FGT Championship/Vettel Challenge.

I imagine you mostly paddle shift then.
Sucks if you get a wobbly set up and you want to stick shift.

Funny thing this one, I have a G25 too and I really don't notice this at all, unless I take my hands off but why would I do that. :) Maybe it's due to my low ffb level (1).

yes, i don't use the H shifter when I drive super fast cars. I stick shift when I drive for fun in a street car. It doesn't bother me as the wobble is not as strong as when driving a super fast car like the X1. I don't know but my wheel only really wobbles on straights with fast cars, when i start approaching a turn i don't feel it anymore and i keep a good racing line.

totally agree mate, if you take one of your hands of the wheel it becomes very unstable. I loved G27 however and finished Vettels challenge with it (all bronze but still) it took me 3 hours. G27 is very responsive and has a strong ffb. Hard to compare to other wheels but it is definitely one of the best wheels for the money out there. The pedals and the shifter are also nice and very good quality.
I'm actually pretty surprised that Logitech is not making new wheels...
