Fall 2012 release... probably about time chase starts.

It's in development, and will be released next year.

Producer Dave Thompson answered questions on Twitter:

Quote:
All the tracks for NTG12 are being re-profiled based on new, highly accurate, track data

"@ItsEddieDuh: how long have u guys been working on NTG2012?" About 6 months

We're re lighting all of the tracks for the right time of day

"@claytonroots: will we be able to design our driver suits for custom cars in NTG12?" Not this time round, maybe next

"@bweaver17: Upon winning the Indy 400, will your driver actually kiss the bricks?" Would be cool, but not for NTG12

"@Twebb1720: any chance for AI cars online? Sometimes only have 3 ppl to race..." Not for NTG12, but maybe the sequel

"@iMatt24: when qualifying for NTG12, will there be "live" scoring during our lap to see how far behind we are on the leader" I think so

It won't have league management..

"@keipher_ps3: can u comment on tire temps and online practice and online qualifying" Let's just say NTG12 is way more authentic

"@Anarky_Fire: Will there be a way to choose rooms based off of names, settings, etc., in NTG12?" Not name, but settings

"@IronStackz: One more thing, its early but do you think you would add Montreal, or Road America to 2012?" Not sure

"@IronStackz: In 2012, will we be able to change paint schemes in Split Screen mode?" Yes and use custom schemes!

Can't say if Nationwide and Trucks are in NTG12. Game is going to be much more authentic to NASCAR

"@IvanAdame1: will we be able to talk to our crew chief or spotter like in nascar 06" I doubt it

"@Burnem83: In 12 will u be able to watch the race in the lobby screen" No, I don't think so

"@JPSanchez0514: Will there be real pitboxes?" I doubt it, with the detail in the tracks, it's not possible

"@AlonsoChocano: when will you guys update the website?" We're working on improving the site now

"@KurtBuschFan22: 2012 NEEDS A KICK BUTTON FOR THE IDIOTS THAT GO BACKWARDS AND WRECK EVERYONE!!!!!" Or they need ghosting ;-)

"@Redrooster13: Will the car skip to the pit online and splitscreen instead of watching it drive down pit road?" Don't think so

"@Cphill8706: Will the new and old version of Phoenix be I'm ntg12?. Plllzz. Same with Daytona." New version yes, not sure about old

"@bstaff88: We need to see who's pitting and who's not under caution and the ability to fake others out!" Good idea

"@RabidWolverine4: So say we were first, crashed and the caution came out and we dropped to last, we will actually stay there..." Yes

"@RKMotorsports: What parts of the damage model have you guys fixed/updated/remade?" Completely new, crush and bend rather than rip

"@cheesetaylor: will the paint booth have sponsors that are on the cars like fed ex m&m's home depot?" That's up to individual sponsors

Tires will blow, pitting will be much better. Manual driving on pit road is being looked at

"@RabidWolverine4: Say you get guys like Joe Nemechek,Casey Mears,Dave Blaney,Tony Raines etc. Will they be start and park?" Not sure, maybe

"@superdevins: Will there be Fantasy Tracks?" No

"@falkor42: Will u guys put 43 drivers in split screen mode, or at least more than 19?" As many as the frame rate will allow

"@ajfredricks09: will career mode in #NTG12 consist of multiple seasons where you start at a low rank team...." Something like that

"@BrianKelley25: if you have trucks or nationwide, will they have the correct bodys and manufactures logos?" If we do, yes

"@JamesGpSmith: have you got a website for it yet?" No, but keep an eye on NASCARTheGame.com things are changing!

"@bweaver17: Will there be a Nationwide Series or Truck series in NTG 2012?" Not allowed to answer that at the moment

"@jeffrain20: Is there gonna be a new rank system in NTG12 cause its pretty easy to rank up in 11" Not sure they'll be ranks at all

Yes, we helped out with the artwork for Driver San Francisco

"@superdevins: Will we see "Spek Gauges" in the cockpit in NTG2012?" Not sure, we're looking at it

"@Cphill8706: Same views as n ntg11 or tweaked?" Tweaked and some new ones

"@superdevins: WIll there be a Create a Driver?" You can create a team like NTG11

"@RKMotorsports: what's your favorite smallest detail in ntg12 that you really love?" Changing the spoiler at plate tracks, shows the ATD

"@RabidWolverine4: Will DNF's happen? (engines blowing up,clutch etc). Will we see more then 43 drivers and possible DNQ?" Maybe DNFs

Hopefully this will be better than NTG 2011... which kinda sucked. :yuck:

~Will update First Post when I get more information~

Early thoughts guys?

I thought 2011 was a good effort for their first Nascar game. However it was still a little too easy.

I wonder if they will(or have they already done it)fix the force feedback so it doesn't try and break your steering wheel. I played 2011 fir 5 minutes and turned it off, because my wheel was making a crazy noise, and it felt like the motors were trying to pull both ways at the same time.

Fixed in patch 2

What I got from the OP was:

Q: blah blah?
A: No.

Q: blah blah?
A: No. Not this time.

Q: blah blah?
A: No.

It'll be more authentic to NASCAR!

Q: blah blah:
A: No, no, no.

I sent him a tweet asking if we'd get a UK release this time, as the prices are astronomical over here. £50 a good 8 months after release! So I didn't bother buying 11 at all 👎

He said they were looking into releasing NTG12 over here, nothing was finalized though. His answer to every question is basically 'Well maybe, I'll think about it, no, no and probably not.'

11 was a complete failure, they cant even get the 3rd patch to pass activision's testing yet. after that, it HAS to go to microsoft/sony. good luck...........

Thankfully for those who actually care about Nascar, iRacing has the legit way to race. I understand, PC, no console. BUT, if you truly want to learn and become a better driver, then iRacing really is the ONLY way for Nascar.

Eutechnyx will continue to fail if they make another game. @ this point, since the license is NOT exclusive(even though I'll be the first to admit. Having 2 companies compete of a niche is ridiculous) codemasters would sweep it away with the travesty known as Eutechnyx......

Look up Eutecnyx's title's. THey ALL were bombs minus Atari. Congrats at being considered relevant 30 years ago............

Sound really cool, but I might wait consisting alot of people said the 1st one was... Rubbish.

Now for an IndyCar game. :indiff:

Anyone ever play NASCAR: Dirt to Daytona? AMAZING!

D2D was incredible.

Agreed with D2D, but back to the main point.

Eutechnyx has failed, and failed again(patch 1) and AGAIN(patch 2) and it's about to hit the 3rd time around (patch3).

there is a saying in life, "fool me once, shame on YOU, fool me twice, shame on ME" then the idioms to go would be us, the consumer. Also, IF NASCAR were to take a look @ it other than some executive marketer for Nascar only lookin @ the sales figures, they would rip up the 5 year deal they have with EUT.

Nascar as a whole is struggling mightily right now to retain popularity. ESPECIALLY with the Male 10-18 & 18-34 demographic. Nascar NEEDS this game to bring in more individuals like myself and many others. This game has completely turned me off to console Nascar racing. Again, thankfully, I can afford to divulge myself with iRacing. BUT, there are MANY others that do not have that luxury. So, what are they to do.

Right now, they are doing leagues, but have these rules that make me even question, is this racing? But, they have to so the room does not lag/glitch, or cause others to wreck when NO true contact was even made........This 3rd patch is pretty much Eut's last chance. This thing fails, they should pull the rug over their Nascar effort........

I am a die-hard Nascar fan, and to see the travesty that is being totally overlooked by Nascar is insane, imho. They will continue to lose the demographic they so desperately need to be successful for the next 20+ years.... And yes, if given the opportunity, I could turn this around with the right developer.........(Codemasters or Papyrus-guys who make iRacing)

This will be a GameFly rental. Can't afford to blow $60 anymore on over hyped games that fail to meet expectations from a multi billion dollar industry which feeds on gullible consumers.

I didn't get 2011 and I'm glad. Heard that it's disaster. I wish codemasters would get the license. I'm pretty sure it's impossible for them to make a bad racing game.

Maybe this a sign of Nationwide in NTG2012?

Depends.... Do NW and Spring Cup cars have the same wheelbase and fuel locations?

If not I would be it's a sure sure sign otherwise the animation would look stupid if they unscrewed a panel and a wheel came off.

I just picked up NASCAR:2011 at Game Stop used...pretty cheap.

Is it GT5? No.
Does it provide more content for your dollar than GT5 DLC? ABSOLUTELY!

Pros:
Bristol 2-wide racing
Infineon and Watkins Glenn look more real than GT5's Nurburgring
The A.I. will wreck you if you run up the track before your spotter says you are clear...so don't look for a free pass for driving like crap.

Cons:
Racing the A.I. is very easy. Skip qualifying and start on the back row if you want a challenge...but even then you can work to the front in just a few laps.
In-car cam angles are too restrictive and rearview mirror is not big enough.
Hood cam is best for racing but lacks a rearview mirror. Good luck racing NASCAR without knowing who's behind you and trying to pass.

Physics: The force feedback is good, but it is very hard to feel the limit in the cars. You either drive cautiously and feel like you should be going faster, or you go faster and fly off the track.

So, they are making a 2012 game. I know 2011 was mostly abit of a Rush job in seemed in many aspects. For a full fledged NASCAR game though, I got about most of the 2011 Cup series teams and actual manufacterers and raced at Ovals with Bumps (not glass smooth surfaces). My biggest complaints come only in the form of:

*A very lacking create-a-car mode
*A not so league friendly online (missing things like Practice & Qualifying)
*Unchallenging A.I.
*Not so detailed Career mode

Now I think the hype around it was really overblown given this was a developer with absolutely no history or knowledge of NASCAR in General so I think they did a decent job for their first game. 2012 though I do think they'll have to step up their game this time otherwise they'll just add to the already huge flaming hate they are getting from Hardcore Nascar fans.

I dislike Thompson's responses to most questions. I agree a lot with everyone here and their criticism. 2011 was a farce however I do understand that this was outside the normal realm for Eutechnyx. They just need to listen to the consumers as we will be the ones buying these games and we know most about what it will take to sell.

My biggest gripes with 2011 in no particular order:

1. Drafting= non-realistic. Sorry you don't gain 15-20 mph. This messes up your corner entry and just allows people to be up your tailpipe more than they would if it were more realistic.

2. Online needs a lobby system where you can see races that have been setup and can join accordingly. much like the Papyrus NASCAR games back in the day.

3. Need a better "kick" option or system. I think if you cause 2 yellow periods in one race it should be an auto kick. Driving backwards should be an auto boot as well or at the very least "ghost" the culprits car. I see that Dave said something about this in his response to the question. We shall see.

4. The A.I. was far too easy as others have already stated.

5. Damage models. The can opener to the side of the car after brushing the safer barrier is just retarded. Again they say this will be addressed in NTG2012.

6. Practice Sessions in online play and Career mode. This is a big deal. Im sorry but we should have a practice session in career mode prior to qualifying. I mean come on!!!! and perhaps a 5-10 minute session for online play. Perhaps even implement qualifying into the online play.

7.Cautions and the subsequent aftermath. Cautions look like **** on this game. cars slowing to a creeping halt. Driving through the so-called pace car that looks like a 93' Ford Probe or something. I dunno..

Well I can run off about a lot more but I will stop here for now.

EDIT: 8. Problem with racing wheels. I use the Fanatec Turbo-S and it seems like there is absolutely no force feedback in my wheel. No matter what I do in the setting options in-game or on my wheel itself.

I think their heart is in the right place. But they are lacking deep ability. Too bad they can't team up with PD. GT5 isn't perfect either. Using locked ASM in A-Spec races to make the AI competitive is insanely lame.

Are you reffering just to the NASCAR series in GT mode or any A-spec race?

They need more help then there is out there to assist with their Nascar effort.

This game was pretty much the sole reason why I went and invested in iRacing. And I am thankful to say it was the right decision.

Sadly, Eutechnyx is simply just lying to the consumer to keep enough interest to generate some sort of sales for their next title. Which is completely unethical, but I would not put is past activision or eutechnyx on this. They hyped up 11 to be better than sliced bread and delivered a less than beta version. Right now, it finally stacks up as an open Beta, 10 months after release. If you put this side by side with iRacing (which i'll admit is not that fair) it's not even within the Milky Way to compare. Eutechnyx has enough work to even meet what Nascar 09 by EA produced in quality NASCAR racing. Some may bash me, so I say to them, get off your knees and wipe your face of that Eutechnyx goo. I am a realist, not a fanboy.

I have been sim-racing for almost 12 years, and I am only 25. Started with NR2 then to NR2000 then 2003, now iRacing, all for PC. For console, it was Nascar98-09 for EA series. But, Dirt 2 Daytona (D2D) was hands down the best for the consoles to date. This makes me wonder where and what Eutechnyx was thinking/doing with this title and Nascar in general. Don't advertise the game and get Ed Martin involved unless you truly have something unique and special to offer. You not only made yourself look like fools, but likely turned off a good number of kids/teens looking to get into Nascar. I will give Eut another chance with 12, but they better get this almost iRacing right, or throw in the towel.

I hold a LOT of angst. I was emailing back and forth with the devs on this game months before release asking a LOT of ?'s. All the answers made it sound like this game was the cats meow, to only pull the rug under from ALL of us (FFB wheels broke, game lagged and surged like it was designed to). Only fanboys stuck with them and still do. If you know ANYTHING about Nascar racing, Eutechnyx got it ALL wrong. They don't have that passion or desire to make the game us enthusiasts want. If you want something to truly dick around and just have laughing fun with, then NTG11 by Eutechnyx is your game. If you want to actually race and have some leagues, then iRacing or Nr2003 are your choices. You CAN'T run leagues with NTG11 @ all. It is impossible to get more than 10 in your room and keep it clean or reduce lag.

Fans desperately want a console nascar game to run leagues in. Something we cannot do right now. When they shutdown the 09 server, it ended console Nascar league racing. I mean, you still can, but know you have to sacrifice from racing hard to do so. Which takes ALL the fun out of it for most, if not all. Some cannot afford to invest into iRacing, and I respect that. Now, they need to show some respect and give those who can't afford to a viable option. And if they don't, then good luck. Some want EA back, and I am one of them. Or codemasters....... Someone who will care and have some true knowledge on how to make a full on racing game.

I could care less if the cars and interior of the track look lifelike, I care about the racing and the racing only. Something iRacing got right, something Eutechnyx COMPLETELY overshadowed. Eutechnyx spent more time on graphics, than the racing itself. It shines in that category. And I, with many others are appalled and left speechless. To only be answered by snobby devs saying they just need time to get it right..........In your dreams.

There are my 73 cents for the day!

Any console game is going to cater the joystick driver. End of story. More time will be spent tweaking the physics and control sensitivity for joystick users than it will for wheel users. That's the only way they can sell the game on the console. Wheel drivers may outnumber joystick drivers on this forum, but the percentage of joystick drivers outnumbers the percentage of wheel drivers across the globe.

GT5 is the same story. I race nightly with a mix of wheel and joystick drivers. Believe it or not, some of the fastest drivers in my lobby tap the buttons. They don't even use th levers or joysticks for control. How can a game that allows people tapping buttons possibly get the physics close enough to reality to make a wheel racer happy?

iRacing is your outlet. It caters toward people willing to invest in a proper sim rig, not their living room couch. It costs money...but the fees go right back into making the platform ideal for sim racers. You simply cannot expect that level of realism from a console title. It will never happen.

NASCAR 2011 isn't the best simulation of the sport and league racing was probably an after thought for them. However, it does a good job at making the tracks and cars look good, and for the price I paid off the used shelf at GameStop it was a great deal. It supports my wheel now (maybe not when it came out) and its been a nice break from GT5.

But you CAN't go door to door even without fear of a lag that sends both of you into a spin without contact. You can't bump someone, even lightly, or there is a GOOD chance you will wreck each other. They physics are SO far off, it is not funny.

I can't have fun with it, even with the joystick/controller. I guess I am simply too competitive, but at the same time, I am lighthearted and realize people will make mistakes when it comes to close racing. I am not a firebreather if someone messes up (Unlike some of the nuts on iRacing).

I truly believe no matter what Eutechnyx does, it still will not meet our Nascar racing standards. They need to literally toss out 11 and start over. Is NTG11 fun? Yes, if you like to wreck and have a field day. Is NTG11 fun for the semi-sim to sim racer to race competitively and have leagues? No, and that is what needs a complete overhaul.

They were given 1 more chance. Let's hope they make the best of it, because I miss racing with my console league racing friends. And have been missing that for almost a year now, with no real end in sight....iRacing is fun, but I like the more kind nature the console has to offer compared to the few pighead iracers who think they are king**** because they think they can race a simulated car faster than me.

I haven't gotten into online racing with the game yet...so I guess I can't comment about lag. But I do know the mistakes I've made in offline mode seemed pretty realistic. I also haven't bothered to mess with tuning the cars yet either, but if it is anything like GT5, sometimes the fastest tunes are not the safest tunes to use when racing against others.
