incompatibility with room host(749)

Have been trying to race my Dad (phinr) in my lounge but wont let him in my lounge if i am in there, but can get in if i am not in there, same as if i were goin into his lounge.Had all the ports put in, i am using Verizon dsl with a westell 7500 modem,my dad has time warner and had all ports put in his also. This is so darn discouraging,PLEASE need help.Also neither one of us have any problems gettin into rooms in open lobby. Send friend requests.

I think there has been problems all day with the PSN.

True, but more than likely one of you is on NAT2 other is NAT3
(has to do with wireless router settings) I have a friend that I cannot
play GT5 or Mortal Kombat with. However BF3 works just fine.

I also have a friend with this problem, and could probably be a likely reason.
 
Either your dads router or yours are set on nat3. Go to the router setting to change it.
 
If it turns out to be the NAT settings (not sure about this though since individually, you're saying you have no problems) then this link was very helpful to me for configuring the ports on my router (for which you may have to resort to the specific instructions for your router make/model - I figured it out but it wasn't straightforward!) and setting up the ps3 to work with it.
