Some have Steering wheels, some have DS3 but why does nobody have the HKS racing controller? Its a hybrid between a steering wheel setup and a DS3. I bought it a while back, and its taken a lot of getting used to, but its actually very nice once you get the hang of it.

My question is why does nobody know about this gift from the gods?

I was thinking of buying one, but wasn't sure wether the accelerator/brake were any good alog with the "steering wheel".

I guess I'll throw it on my Christmas list. Has to be better than the old POS PS2 wheel I got a few years back xD.

Its actually wierd and sometimes the accelerator is touchy but you have to give it some time so you can get used to it

I was thinking of buying one but its a bit of money to be wasting on a controller that id only really use for 1 game, plus theres no guarantee that it would actually help, thats why im getting a wheel.

I just bought trigger extensions and Toggle extensions for my dualshock. Mapped the gas and brake to R2 and L2 and the gear shift to R3 (up down motions). The extra length allows you to be much more precise.

That sounds good.. i might try that

I tried it at E3 2 years ago. I thought it was ok, and probably a good idea for someone that doesn't have the room for a wheel. I already had a wheel so I didn't think going through the process of learning to use it properly would give me any advantage. It took a few minutes to get used to it and by that time others wanted to try it. Funny thing was I actually went to that booth because of a girl there and then saw the controller... I guess hiring those girls does work.

Yeah the R2 and L2 "triggers" in the PS3 aren't really triggers at all. They are just more sensitive versions of you x button with a trigger like cover. The extensions give you a longer pull to use the sesitivity of the buttons to the fullest extent. Same idea with the toggle extensions. I have a toggle extension in my steering and a silicon cover on the shifter for quick responce, don't want to get rid of the short action there! Over all it cost about 20 bucks and it got me two controllers like this.

I actjually did buy this controller just for gt5 and rarely use it. I do better with my DS3 controller

Why are people so against wired controllers. You're not sitting 20 feet back from your TV or jumping around and spinning in circles during a race right?

Not during the race, but aftwr a hard fought win, I may do a victory dance.

It's because almost every controller on the market now is wireless. For how much this costs, it should be wireless. Also, people are used to the freedom a wireless controller gives you.

Unless the cord is about 7 feet long and is anti trip proof for my wife, daughter, dog, rabbit... I'd have to give it a pass. I'm too used to not having to worry about it, my Dreamcast and N64 were pulled off the shelf and controllers yanked out of my hands far too often for me to forget and go back to cords now and if my $500 PS3 ever hit the floor I am not liable for my actions.
I no longer like corded phones either, they make me feel trapped :).

^, Amen.
And sometimes, yes I do jump around and spin in circles during a race. I also answer the doorbell, and get a beer on straightaways.

I think its a 10 ft cord

Just maybe going to throw this out there for the next time, drop the controller? 💡

Ah, but here's a couple of much, much better questions.

Why do you assume that no one has it?
Why do you assume that no one knows about it?

You know, a simple "HKS Controller" search would've led you to this topic here...

Clickie.

I, for one, simply don't like them. For me, it's too much hassle having to deal with a cord, even if it is long enough to reach you at 10+ feet away.

I have one and used it many months but not anymore. The steering is better than ds3 but that's about it. The rest of the button/triggers are more precise on the ds3 especially when holding half throttle through a corner.... Hks has nice colour though. ;)

I use one when I cant be bothered to set my wheel up, and yes there very good, quicker than a DSR.

Lol, it was more of a joke, but you never really know whats going to happen. Wires out in the middle of the floor get tripped on chewed on (dogs not me). And not all living rooms are set up for a cord limitation. With larger TVs people are sitting farther and farther away from the TV, which is bad news for a wired controller.

the wire tethers it to my ps3 so when I throw the controller at the wall the ps3 would follow 👎 OR when I do the Mario jump after a win the same thing would happen :odd: Or I sometimes like to run around the room like a kid playing cars whilst driving in GT5 Yeeeeaow Vrooom tish vrooom

: Disclaimer: do not throw ps3 controllers they can hurt someone/break fish tanks/cost £40.
Some of the above Statements may or may not be related to actual events.

Some of the above Statements may or may not be actually true.

I'm guessing the fish tank one is true...

I think I would still perfer to have a steering wheel simply because it offers more precise control than a Dualshock 3. You also have force feedback which you won't get from a controller unless you are really that crazy to create a controller that has a FFB motor in the left stick. Scary O_O .

So how many games will you be using the wheel for that you couldn't use this with?

To be fair, I had a similar choice earlier in the year. The HKS seemed a little pricey for what it was but then Argos had a great deal on the DFGT so I went a bit mad and bought one. Never looked back, but I still only use it for GT5, and even then won't use it for drifting.
