Further explaination of the theme by youtimestwo.

"My garage stores a classic 1972 MGB (wish it was in GT5) low to the ground, incredable power
to weight, exhilaratingly fun to drive especially summer days, top down, on twisty - hilly backroads!
I want to see an image that visually conveys that feeling I get piloting the B."

Cars: Any pre 1980 (especially classic open tops).
Locations: Trial Mountain, Nordschleife, Toscana (Tarmac) or Mt Aso.
Phototravel: No.
Unique Restrictions: Daytime only, pre 1980 cars and of course don't forget to shoot
on one of the specified tracks.

SSC_Rules.jpg

Please, ensure you read and understand all requirements for this competition. Failure to follow
the rules may result in disqualification. If you have questions, send me a Private Message.

This Thread will answer many possible questions you may have.

  • Entries for the competition this week must be sent to the Judge youtimestwo Via
Private Message and not posted in this thread, any pics posted in this thread will not be
considered for the poll. Use the Submit Entry button to ensure your entry goes to the judge.
  • Your PM must consist of a preview image no bigger than 500px at the largest side with a
direct link to the full size image.
  • Your first entry will be your last, you will not be allowed to change your entry so be happy
    with it.
  • One entry per user. It must be your own work, and never previously used in a competition.
  • Do not use a photo from your Gallery or post your photo shoot in your Gallery until after
the competition (and poll if you made it) has closed.
  • Preview images can not exceed 500 pixels in either direction.
  • A preview image must be representative of the full-size image. Do not add effects to it.
  • Winner chooses the following week's theme and becomes Judge for that week.
  • Winners cannot enter in their own theme!
  • The Judge will select the top 10 entries and PM to the Host for the poll.
  • The poll entries will then all be hosted by me so that links cannot be traced to the owner
    of the photo.
  • The Host may ask for the original image and it must be submitted if so.
It's recommended to save the original image (preferably in-game) until week's ends.
  • It is recommended you host your image on ImageShack, Photobucket, or Flickr.
SSC_Editing.jpg

What you may not do to a photo:

  • Alter the geometry of the car. No stickers, or body modifications not available in game.
  • Add shapes or objects from outside of GT5.
  • Add a signature or personal watermark.
  • Add lens flares or "artistic" filters to image.
  • Remove items from shot (scenery, other cars).
  • Use more than 1 image (HDR, photo-stitching, multi-exposure).
  • "Creative cropping". The main "image" must be four-sided, with 90-degree, upright corners.
  • Selective car colour changing: masking different parts to create racing stripes or similar.

What you may do to a photo:

  • Crop and/or resize an image.
  • Adjust the level or curve values.
  • Alter the colour tone of the image (gradient maps, photo filters, colour balance, etc).
  • Car body colour change (all stickers/design features must remain, see "Remove Items" rule).
  • Adjust brightness, contrast, exposure, shadow/highlights.
  • Enhance shadows or highlights (dodge and burn tools in Photoshop, for example).
  • Add noise and/or diffuse glow.
  • Add a post-game tilt-shift blur, or apply a motion blur to a stationary Photomode shot.
  • Make use of Layer Blend Modes.
  • Use a Sharpening filter and/or tool.
  • Scale or enlarge rims.
  • Remove or modify license plates.
  • Remove the GT watermark.
  • Clean up or fix jaggies, texture pixelation, or colour separation.
  • Add a vignette effect.
Failure to follow these rules will result in ignored entries and/or disqualification!

Thanks FJ, I'm sure the theme will produce some impressive images!

Not a photo of my car, but it's identical to this blue (aqua) one.

And this is what it looks like on tarmac... (again, not mine, but similar)

Such fun to drive!

What I really want from your entries is a "feeling" of the theme and not so much of a close up on the car, we have plenty of comps for that, so don't be afraid to use a standard car (I love standards and there are so many classics that never come out of GT5 garages) and show it at speed spinning a curve or cresting a hill!

Please, have some fun with this one.

Nice theme, I'm not a pro photoshopper but I'll have a try to make a nice photo. there is one car in my mind already :D

I searched my gallery, but it turns out that I don't have a nice car similar to yours.
Would it be Ok to use one without an open top? please say yes :D

Sure, absolutely, top down is optional as most game cars have them up when racing, just that I'm looking mostly for 2 seater sportscars.

Alright! At least I have a nice 2-seater! :D

Eiger Nordwand would've been cool, too

And a question, what about animated GIF Images? :)

Nato suggested Eiger to me but I told him that the ol' B probably couldn't handle that track!

Too steep, I like gently rolling hills! ;)

random fact of information, I come from a damn small village in England called 'Harwell', google maps it, it's small. But i lived just around the corner from the gentleman who design the MGB and i've had a spin in the prototype which he still has in his garage :)

Not really relevant to the photomode comp, but thought i'd share my claim to fame :)

Looks like I'm third fifth to send!

Wow, that's so cool, lucky you! (envy)
That little car converted many young drivers into die hard sports car fanatics, like me! :D
Prototype of an iconic 60's/70's two seater british sports car, that has to be a piece of history!
I would think it's priceless, should be in an automotive museum showcase for all to see, not his garage. :irked: (imo ha ha)

thanks for sharing NJ72

TBH, im inclined to agree about the museum comment, but then i wouldn't have been as lucky as i was!

Also, i quite like the fact that, because of how iconic the car ended up being, they let it's designer keep hold of it when he retired. I should imagine it is one of 2 or 3, but whether the others are still around I have no idea

Just to let everyone know, I'm heading home from out of town and will close this competition on arrival around 6 p.m. EST, approx. 5 hrs. from now.

So still a chance to submit any last minute entries.

thanks
