I don't know about you, but I HATE incomplete changelogs.
And from what I've seen thus far, there are a lot of really neat changes PD has made to GT5 in update 2.02 that are either sparsely documented or not even mentioned at all in the changelog!
So I'm here to try to make that right. Below, I've posted all of the official changes, with annotations as prescribed by the community, as well as anything else I've seen mentioned. So far, I've combed through all of the comments on the main page post to find extra updates, but I need you guys to help me build this, as there are a lot of facets of GT5 and GTP that I don't explore on a daily basis.
At the end of the changelog will be unanswered questions about the change, or changes to the game that we're not under consensus about them actually happening.

2.02 CHANGELOG
Official (with annotations):
Major Changes and New Features
- Wheels can now be changed on (most) Standard cars.
- Downloadable cars and tracks can now be shared by multiple users with the Family Upgrade.
- Cars purchased through DLC will now appear in the Car Dealerships. You can purchase additional versions of the same vehicles within the game using earned race credits.
- A copy button has been added to the lower left of the settings screen. A settings sheet saved in either A/B/C can now be copied to A, B or C.
Gifts
- Toyota 86 GT ’12 will be available to all players who install the 2.02 update.
- Free coupons have been added that allow you to wash cars, change oil, overhaul your engine, or restore chassis rigidity in GT Auto. 10 coupons will be distributed for free to each of those who have downloaded the 2.02 update.
- The Gran Turismo Racing Kart 125 SPL. and five New Car Refresh cards will be provided to customers purchasing any DLC packs released in October 2011. The New Car Refresh can be used from the Special Coupons option in the items list, and will return your car to its brand new condition (before breaking-in the car’s engine). Equipped parts and current paint on the car will not be affected by this card.
Other Improvements
- Pressing the □ button in the car coupon selection screen of the Car Delivery, will now allow you to exchange all car coupons at once (maximum number of coupons you can receive at once is 100).
- Tire-wear speed adjustment: Soft tires now wear faster than hard tires. All tires also seem to wear more quickly than previously.
- In GT Auto you can now see how the oil changes, aerodynamic parts, engine overhauls, and racing modifications will affect performance points and engine power, before and after their application.
- In screens where the [Garage] and [Driver List] buttons are displayed in the A/B Spec events, Special Events, and Seasonal Events, pressing the □ button will now show the [Garage], and pressing the △ button will show the drivers list.
- An option has now been added for 'Max. number of participants' – this is featured in the room settings of My Lounge.
- Added ☆ marks which show the number of Gold Trophies attained in each event, in the event selection screen of seasonal events.
- Racing sound effect adjustment. Wind and tire sound effects can be heard, in addition to possible engine noise adjustment.
- Steering assist controls (used when using certain controllers on Racing Karts) have been adjusted. This applies to steering wheels with a 200 degree turning radius. The [Steering Type] (Amateur/Professional) settings in the Game Options will be ignored, and the controller’s steering angle will now directly affect the tire turning angle of the car.
Correction of Known Issues
- Fixed issue where you would overrun without resetting, when entering pit lane at low speed on some tracks.
- Fixed issue with Performance Points calculations for the Red Bull X2010 and the X2011.
- Fixed issue where the rear wing/aerodynamic settings were reset when switching between setting sheets.
- An issue was corrected where the car would become stuck in autopilot from the pit lane if a certain condition is met in an endurance race on the Tsukuba Circuit. Also revised the entry route during pit stops and speed judgement.
- Improved multi-monitor stability
Unofficial Updates:
- Many old Seasonal Events have been removed from the [Seasonal Events] page.
- Some existing Seasonal Events now give out free car tickets. Users who have already completed these events prior to the update can reload them to receive the ticket without restarting the race.
- The chase camera has been adjusted to follow the car more closely. Bumps and track camber are 'felt' more closely in the chase camera.
- Replay cameras are reported to be more dynamic, following the car more closely.
- The in game Heads Up Display has been made more fully customizable, with the ability to add or remove individual items from the display.
- Crash sound effects sound somewhat more realistic.
- Grass was made to appear more realistic.
- Users purchasing more than one DLC pack (with the complete pack counting as only one) receive a free Toyota FT-86 Concept II ’11.
- Improvements were made to lighting and shadowing.
- Under certain circumstances, the track map is made thicker.
- Hosts of online lobbies can now disallow the use of ABS. Also, hosts can choose to enable penalties in free-run.
- The Nissan Gran Turismo Skyline GT-R (PACE) '01 now has working, flashing lights.
- Exiting a seasonal race now takes you back to the seasonal menu, instead of the GTLife menu.
- Switching cars after setting a lap time in online Free Run no longer resets your leaderboard standings.
- When replays restart automatically, the user's camera selection is no longer reset.
- The LOCTITE MUGEN NSX '01 now has the correct front rim color.
- Standard cars' headlights now shine onto surfaces, and other general model improvements have been made to Standard cars.
- 3D functionality has been improved.
- The smoke textures have been replaced with higher resolution versions.
- A 'Bloom' effect has been added to Photo Mode.
- Driving with ABS off has been improved, making it easier to drive without locking up the wheels.
- Best lap times and sector times now remain on the online lobby leaderboard after the race ends.
- Force feedback on compatible wheels has been strengthened and is now more sensitive to small road surface changes.
- Raindrops now 'splash' when they strike the road surface.
- Some textures for signs on tracks have been replaced with higher resolution versions.
- Clutch mechanics when driving in manual transmission have been adjusted.
- It is now possible to cause a backfire while upshifting, based on the speed of the engine at the time of the shift and the speed of the shift.
- Grip when driving off the road in online lobbies has been decreased.
- The lights on the wheel of the F2007 have been adjusted.
- Paints now load more quickly when scrolling through them in [GT Auto].
- Turning using a DualShock 3 has been adjusted.
- In Photo Mode, after changing the filter, if the user returns to 'free roam' mode, the filter remains, allowing the user to adjust the camera position accordingly.
- Cars purchased from the Used Car Dealership are now received 'clean', that is, not in need of a car wash.
- When voting for a track in the online lobby, players can now vote for randomly created tracks.
- An adjustable LSD can now be installed on the Dodge Challenger SRT8 TC.
Known Issues:
- In Shuffle lobbies, when a track vote is called, all participants are kicked. This issue will be resolved in Update 2.03 in the latter half of January.
- Users report that the 'camera bobble' in cockpit view has been removed or broken.
- A colorful line sometimes appears on the Nürburgring, starting from the middle of Caracciola Karussell ("The Carousel") and ending about 200m later. This issue is not always reproducible, but has been reported by multiple users.
- It is possible to have an online race with combinations of karts, F1, and standard cars by fiddling with the settings in the right way.
- Effects applied to an image in Photo Mode during a replay will sometimes also affect the rest of the replay, as well as any subsequent races the user enters. In other words, if you pause a replay and take a photo with the Miniature effect, you might cause the rest of the replay and your next races to be displayed through the Miniature filter.
- The Premium tab in the Garage in an online lobby is sometimes inaccessible from the other tabs. A workaround is pushing left on the D-Pad from the Manufacturer field.
- The text above 'Change Wheels' in [GT Auto] still says that rims cannot be changed for standard cars.
- Heads Up Display elements appear or do not appear seemingly randomly in two player split screen, regardless of what the settings prescribe.
- On rare occasion, a pit crew (minus the crewmen with the jack and lollipop) will appear surrounding a car before the start of an otherwise normal race in the replay.
- Some users report issues with engine noise on certain cars. The engine audio is sometimes too quiet, and sometimes only comes through on one speaker. This issue is reported with the Viper ACR, 787b, and others.
- A rare sound bug causing warbling of engine audio has been introduced. --thanks to WarriusZero for the video!
- Another rare sound bug sometimes occurs in the dealerships when staying at an individual car's screen for an extended period of time (http://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=US&hl=en&client=mv-google&v=QcN-gun1MI8).
- The German description of the Volkswagen Golf VI R states that the fuel efficiency of the Golf R32 is 999L/100km.
- The Mini Cooper S '11 cannot be used in the Mini Challenge event.
Unanswered Questions:
- A bunch of people are saying that they hear cool 'water sloshing around' effects when driving on wet tracks, but I can't reproduce this. Can someone give me some evidence for this so I can either add it to the list proper or remove it?
- Lots of people are talking about the 'camera bobble' thing in cockpit view (second 'Known Issue'), but I don't see any difference. Can someone take a look at this, as well?
- Are there truly any improvements with Standard cars? I feel like there might be something, but it might be a placebo effect.
- Some users report (and I kind of see) an elimination or lessening in the high pitched whine of a car with a fully customizable transmission. Anyone else notice this?
- A user also reported that paint chips being properly grouped together was only added in 2.02. Can anyone else confirm or deny that it wasn't added earlier?
