I would like some opinion on this matter. Some of the time trial events on this forum require use of factory mounted tires. This prompted me, on a hunch to investigate how closely cars are shoed in game vs reality.

The R35 (and many other japanese sport type cars) come standard with sport hards. Now when I go find the actual tire I see the Bridgestone Potenza RE070R.

The golf R and Scirocco R on the other hand come with Comfort Softs...In real life the tire is the Bridgestone Potenza RE050A.

Bridgestone rates this tire, and it's larger sibling mentioned formerly, as it's highest performance Street tire. Does the Japanese market receive the same tire on the Veedubs as europe?

These are just 2 examples, however, I sometimes scratch my head when I see sports on some cars. More often than not they are Japanese.

Any thoughts or clarifications. I may not have all required info.

This thread might help you with some of your questions...

It also has a list of recommended tires on gt5 to match grip in reality.

Thanks for that.

Hope you found that useful. I stumbled upon it when browsing the forums, when it was first created, and I found it interesting.

I thought it could have some value for explaining the reasoning in tire choice by PD, and since yours is a somewhat technical question, I think it's good to take advantage of users' research on the matter, rather than getting some random comments on the matter.

And since I don't really know anything relevant about tires and grip differences... :dunce:

Cheers

No, they don't mandate factory spec tires, they mandate the use of a certain tire regardless of what came on the car originally in GT5...

I'm not sure I understand this. The RE050 and RE070 are vastly different tires, with the 70 being significantly faster. It sounds to me like the game tires are more or less accurate.
