Is there a car or a certain amount of cars you PLAN on buying in the future? Think of this as the timeline of cars you plan on buying. Don't go over the top with a wishlist of cars. Be reasonable.

I currently own a 1999 Subaru 2.5rs

1. 2006 Mistubishi Lancer Evolution by 2013
2. 1997 Acura NSX-T by 2016
3. 20XX Subaru Legacy by 2020
4. 20XX Toyota Sienna by 2020(the dad-mobile)
5. N/A by 2035
6. N/A by 2045
7. I'll use my retirement fund to purchase a sports car such as a 911 or a Corvette and relive my years as a young man with shiny black hair and six-pack abs. I'll be that old man that we've all seen on the freeway with that cool sports car...

I'm currently driving a Proton Persona and it's probably the best car I've ever driven. The problem is, the car is not 100% mine and is shared with my mum. In a couple of months time I may be going to a University and I need my own car. So I planned on buying a Perodua Viva. It's small, cheap, easy to maintain and very economical. Since I'm a student I don't think I need a big 4 door saloon yet.

The Viva will happen in these short while as the bank is currently processing my loan but the car is ready to be picked up though - only once the loan is a success.

So my wishlist for the future:

1. BMW 320d E90
2. BMW M5 F10

That's all really.

I'd like to get an R34 Skyline when they become legal here in 2015. Although, I'd be happy with an R33 if it was more affordable.

1. Morris Marina
2. Piano :p
3. Subaru WRX STi (if I ever have that much money)

Right now I have a 2008 Nissan Altima Coupe.

I currently own "VTEC Yo!", the '94 Accord in my sig.

Top of my list by far is a Silverstone with Porno Red leather or Indy Yellow Pearl with black leather Honda S2000 which hopefully I'll have the cash for by the end of this year or the start of next. The alternative is dropping $15k on a GQ Nissan Patrol or a D22 Nissan Navara, modify as necessary to run the Cape York trip next May, sell it and the Accord for as much as I can and then pick up the S2000.

Plan is to own that car for as many years as I possibly can. If I ever need a family car, by the time I need one a late model Subaru Liberty GT Spec.B will hopefully be dirt cheap which will provide the thrills and keep the practicality. The alternatives in this case depend on how much money I can come into; probably the number 2 on my list of practical fun buses if I end up ever getting the cash for one is an FG Ford Performance Vehicles F6.

That's pretty much how far I'm willing to look into it at the moment.

My plan is to stick to the vow I made 10 years ago, and that was to never own anything but a BMW. Since I'm always skint, I like variety, and I don't tend to keep cars that long, my plan is to keep buying different models off eBay everytime one fails an MOT, my 328 is probably scrap-bound this year if my suspicions about the head are correct, I'll replace it with something for <£1000.

I've yet to have a Seven series of any vintage, but there are E46 3-ers and E39 5-ers a plenty on eBay. So my next cars could be E12, E21, E23, E31, E32, E38, E46, E39...

Also, if I get my bonus in the summer I WILL be buying a 635CSi to replace the one that was stolen from me!

I want a black Volvo 850. Preferrably the R model, but a black 850 either way would be superb.

Would love to buy these cars in the near future, but sad thing is that Lotus doesn't sell their cars here, so have to either settle with a used one, or import it.

I have a pretty long term plan. I plan to stay with my IS until I'm about 20-21 (4-5) years and then my dad will probably pass his M3 to me and I guess I would probably either sell the IS and pay off what's left of the M3 or if I can, keep the IS. From then on. I'll keep the M3 but maybe have a classic porsche (sc?) as a second car until I'm 30 and making good money. In my thirties I plan to start with a 930 (still keeping the M3) and when I get a house eventually get some other cars I like such as a W124 500E or a P38 Range Rover, but what I reaaly want to get eventually, hopefully in my late 30s is an F430. So yeah thats what I have planned, though cars mught switch to newer ones such as switching the 500e for a current s500 (this will be many years from now)

Impreza STI in the next few weeks.
Probably a Cayman after that.
Then 911s for the rest of my life until I'm dead... ;)

Near future: cheap manual sporty car to learn stick, channel my inner hoon, and get into "building up" a car (miata, b14 200sx w/ SR20, or some sort of civic swap project)

After college, once I have a steady job, I'll probably try to find a grandma's BRZ/FRS. 👍

After that... who knows. By that point gas will probably be much more expensive than it is now. All I know is that I will do the best I can to avoid buying anything brand new.

The next auto purchase of mine will be a Subaru Outback. I don't know what is going to happen beyond that.

As soon as I land a job Im snagging an iroc-z28 camaro. 350 swap and a 5 spd means hooning all the time.:D

Hopefully when I'm off to university I can keep driving my parents' 2003 Corolla, then probably buy it from them when I graduate for a couple grand (or maybe get it as a gift). I'll drive that Corolla to the ground (160k kms, so plenty of life left), then depending on how my career is established coming out of university (looking to obtain a CMA designation), look for a new (probably used) car.

It's hard to plan so far ahead, I don't know how much money I'll be making when I get out of school, or how long it will take, maybe the Corolla will die (doubt it in 6 or 7 years, it's only an '03), maybe I'll be successful enough to have a company car. What I'm thinking is probably keeping the Corolla around until I have stable employment, and hopefully I'll be established in my career enough to sell it and buy something more comfortable as a daily beater (2000's 3-series maybe?) Another option would be potentially selling the 'Rolla and buying my mom's Golf TDI wagon from her (she'll probably have a new car in 7-8 years). After that, I'd look in to maybe finding something fun for a weekend car (MR2? Miata?)

Following that, the next logical procession is getting married and starting a family (a big goal of mine), which calls for some sort of wagon/minivan/truck/SUV type (I'll most likely be a hockey parent). Assuming I marry my current girlfriend (pipe dream as we're both 17) it won't affect my car, as she'd definitely be the one wanting the SUV/truck and I could keep whatever I had.

After that, I'd probably keep that same basic arrangement and move the cars upmarket as I advance in my career. My older 3 series becomes a newer one, then a brand new one, then eventually hopefully an M3/IS-F/CTS-V type car (assuming they even exist and are viable in 20+ years). The family car would start as a used minivan probably, then become a crossover (Buick Enclave type car), leading to either a truck or a luxury SUV at some point down the road.

It's hard to plan. I don't know what kind of money I'll be making out of university and in to the future, I don't know what developments manufacturers will make, I don't know what kind of girl i'll be married to (if she's not content driving an SUV/minivan I'm in trouble), how much gas and taxes will cost, hard to say.

1. Buy my parents' 2003 Corolla i'm driving now after university (or hopefully get it as a gift). Drive it until I'm financially secure enough to move to step 2.
2. Sell/trade the Corolla, and buy a more comfortable car, used older Lexus IS, BMW 3-series, Audi A4, Acura TL, something nicer than the Corolla.

-Ambiguity of marriage and career progression and maybe kids-

3. Buy a family car, Golf wagon, minivan, truck, SUV, crossover, a Mazda CX-5 or Golf Wagon at entry up to a Buick Enclave type depending on how much money we have.
4. Buy something fun for the weekends, Scion FR-S is my immediate thought.
5. Replace daily beater cars and hopefully move upmarket as they need replacing. The dream is an M5/CTS-V/IS-F and some sort of Luxury SUV (Q7 type vehicle).
6. Get older, buy a sports car (replace FR-S) for my midlife crisis
7. Get old, sell the sports car and M5 type car and buy a 7 series or some old man car to retire with.
8. Look back on the list and realize I'd need to be one rich 🤬. Realize the "3-series" will be a Mazda 3, and the "5 series" will be a 3 series, and the "Q7" will be a minivan .

A woody wagon, sometime, I don't know when, & any kind will do. Hopefully an Airstream to go along with it. ;)

@Noob616 it's commendable how you've thought about all of this so wisely and you are only 17. But the thing is, you mentioned you are off to university, and that is a major step. It will change you and your thinking soo much, you might not even follow one of these plans. :p

Hope to pick up (haha) a 2012 Ram 1500 QC 4x4 by the end of the year to replace the Grand Prix.

After that's paid off, start looking for a project car.

It's still fun to think ahead and imagine. :sly:

Well, I hope to get at least 10 more years out of my Bonneville, but once that comes up I've got a few cars I'd like to see in my driveway:

2004-2005 Pontiac Bonneville GXP (I just might... I'll be awfully sad to see my current one go once the day comes...)
2009-2011 Buick Lucerne Super
2009-2011 Cadillac DTS Platinum
20XX Volvo S80
2011- Chrysler 300C
2007-2009 Jaguar XJR

Dunno, I'll have to see what becomes available a decade from now - will definitely be buying used though... I'd go for a two door, but I've come to appreciate the real-world versatility of having two sets of doors... so no XLR or XK for me!

I think I have already owned or still own every vehicle I have ever wanted. The ONLY other car I can think of that I would like to have is a 1970 Cuda. It would be green or Purple. A pro-touring or road track build something similar to this.

If I lived in a southern climate I would buy one of these for my wife. Lotus Elise.

It really depends on where I live. I've been applying for a ton of jobs in areas were it's cold, snowy and mostly backwoods (Alaska, northern Canada, Rocky Mountain region). If I were to be relocated to one of these areas I would ditch the Focus and buy a F-250 diesel. If I end up staying around Michigan my next vehicle will be something AWD and fuel efficient, so probably something like an Impreza barring they aren't hideous by the time I'm ready for a new car. If I end up moving to a warmer, less snowy climate I'll almost certainly go for a hybird or diesel powered car since it would make the most amount of sense considering the amount I drive. Or if the infrastructure is there, something like the Honda FCX would be good.

My project/weekend vehicle will be determined by where I live too. If I stay in Michigan I'd have a really hard time deciding on what to get, I really want to go another S-Truck though and drop an LSx into it. But it really could go any which way. If I got further south I'd look at a convertible, maybe an S2000 or a Lotus Elise. In a colder, mountainous area it would either be a Land Rover Defender, Jeep Wrangler or a Subaru WRX turned rally car.

This also all depends on what the future wife will allow me to have in the garage
