I just had a conversation with a buddy who's wife bought him a G27 for his birthday and completely supports his sim racing hobby. Me... I have to dance around my wife a little bit with things i want to buy. i am curious as to who all has significant others who support them in their endevors and others who might have funny stories about problems their hobby has caused them. it doesnt neccesarily have to be sim racing either, just what you're into and mainly how the other half feels about it.

Wife loves:

My cycling - keeps me fit and in shape

Wife doesn't mind:

Playing GT - it de-stresses me.

Wife hates:

Smoking pot - I don't do it often but when I do she gets annoyed.

My wife doesn't like that I spend so much time and money reading sim forums and buying sim stuff. But somehow she accepted that I have the wheel stand in the living room! But I don't get as many hours of racing as I'd like each week.. :-(

Just speaking in the context of things we do together.

Girlfriend loves:

-Me playing hockey. She loves to watch my games, and it keeps me in some semblance of shape.
-Playing Skyrim with me.
-Reading, talking about books we've both read

Girlfriend doesn't mind:

-Watching hockey games on TV, provided they involve either Montreal (my favourite team), Toronto (her team), or Team Canada if she's watching too.

-Listening to me go on some tirade about libertarian politics, small government, or prejudice in the hockey world (European vs North American players).

I am 'the wife' :)

We started off with one PS3, steering wheel and copy of GT5, but quickly realised that we both wanted to play so now we both have a PS3, steering wheel and GT5.:)

My wife 'hates' my sim racing hobby.:)

I bought a OMP race seat last week and the whole family: kids, parents, sisters in law have tried it out.

My wife has not sat in it once:tdown:

But i have my game room and all the freedom to do wat i want. 👍

My wife would love my cycling a hell of a lot more if I didn't spend so much money buying crap essential bike gear and hospitalising myself.

Pro tip: Get stuff delivered to work and don't crash into big rocks :dopey:👍

Something to contribute here.
Not married, which saves me a lot of headache in this matter ;)
But my Ex was ok with my rig standing in the middle of the living room and she even tried it a few times. But at the end it was anyways my apartment.
Now when i have girls in the house, the reactions go from like it to hate it, but the ones who like it are definitively allowed to stay !!! :D:D:D

My wife does not hates my sim racing hobby but she really  hates the fact that this hobby "steals time" that was intended to be dedicated to her!!!:D

Sort of the same. She supports my several hobbies, but when they take up too much time then it turns to a bit of dislike. She especially likes the hobbies that yield some return. Like my art for example.

My girlfriend bought me my G25 and cockpit when she won a few hundred quid on the Irish Lottery. She is a good 'un!

Yeah thats no surprise, thats REALLY frowned upon in Thailand...

I consider myself lucky because in the 8 years I've been with my GF, she has taken interest in all the things that interest me... Cars, Football, MMA, kick boxing... pretty much everything I like, she likes too.... The only time she gets annoyed is if I'm on the PS3 for hours on end for multiple days... This is usually when I get a new game to play. :p

^ She's inflatable isn't she? ;)

I don't really have time for hobbies but the closest would be GT5 which my wife tolerates as long as it's not every night. My other hobbies of dining out and buying stuff are very well tolerated indeed!

^ @AT I can totally understand people would think that reading that description.... :p

Its even to the point now where if I forget there's footie on TV... She'll put it on that channel and remind me to watch :D

You are one very lucky man

Shopping is a nightmare for me. Unless I'm in the bike shop, computer market or some where that is selling really cool dangerous stuff like CS gas.

I like wandering around tech stores and HMV, but apart from that I just glaze over after about 10 minutes and start thinking of food or when it's early enough to mention a pub break.

Even if I did have a Missus the thing she wouldn't like would be my love for ponies. And my untidyness and my deep explanations about my visits to the toilet after being asked, What have you been doing? Maybe that's why I'm still single.

Maybe because you don't pass it ;)

Single for the moment and enjoying the crap out of it.

My last gf hatted it too (^), but other than that she loved the same things I did, especially sleeping (not sex, sleeping )

my wife doesn't give a crap about my sim racing hobbies, or my gaming hobbies, but fortunately she is not against it :-)

My GF (soon-to-be wife; 4 weeks 'til the wedding but who's counting! :nervous:) is fully supportive of my sim-racing hobby, which makes things easier. :)

She hasn't tried the rig out at all yet but wants too. Doesn't mind me buying stuff for it too. No wonder I'm marrying her (well, for that and her, er, 'other skills'! lol :sly:)

My gf is supportive of my hobbies, but I still think she would prefer me to spend more time and money on/with her.

She's very supportive of the hobbies that keep me fit, but isn't a huge fan of my Muay Thai training (Thai kickboxing). I don't get injured that often, but some past injuries have been a little... gory.

She's not keen on having weapons in the house (air rifle, air pistol, archery equipment, knives, swords, and hopefully a shotgun soon) but i'm not keen on having thousands of pairs of ridiculous high heels in our wardrobe either!

The one thing that she absolutely hates is when I bring rabbits or game birds home and pluck/skin and gut them in the kitchen. No complaints when she's eating them for her dinner though!

If she likes you to keep fit you can always get a six pack (of beer. Lol).

Single atm. Won't get into a committed relationship unless the girl has the same values and virtues/interests as me.
