Historics

The Team of Stewards from the International Touring Car Championship, has decided to create an International Rally Car Championship.

Our plan is to bring the closest fields of competitors into competition, in a time-attack based rally setting. So far, the competitors in the International Touring Car Championship have noted how well balanced the cars are, despite the presence of more than 60+ cars, officially sanctioned. We plan on bringing the same high level of performance balancing, to a staggered start rally racing series.

Our goal is to create a series that's fun for everyone, by including four classes (decided upon by driver talent), and avoiding any reason for contact during a session.

This goal comes as a problem, however, because GT5 doesn't yet allow staggered timing systems in online racing. An example, though, was included in the single player "Special Events" Gran Turismo Rally series.

We will be using a very similar type of setup, for our competitions.

How It Will Work:

There will be four classes:

Group B (high-powered rally cars like the RS200-but not the Suzuki Pikes Peak Escudo)
Modern WRC (the WRC cars, in game, from 2000 and newer)
1990s WRC (the WRC cars, in game, from 1999 and older)
Historics (1980s and newer)

The first class to go on track, will be the Group B cars. Members of the Historics Class, and the WRC classes, will supervise, be timing officials/marshalls, by spectating the races. This process will be repeated, but, for example, Group B drivers will act as officials for WRC classes, or historics class, etc.

This means:

Officials will ensure that the run is clean, and not impeded by another car, or started early.

Timing marshalls will record the times of the drivers.

Registration:

Link to Official Registration. Click here!

All drivers will register as an official, or timing marshall, while they're registering for their own competition. You will be classed based on the time you run at a given course (Eiger Nordwand W Trail.) This means, that, all drivers will be put in "brackets," meaning that the fastest drivers will run in Group B, and the slowest will run in Historics. This makes sure, that the drivers have cars fitted to their skill level, and that the competition is close.

How the competition runs:

Lobbies will be set to 2 laps. Cars which are not running will park on the side of the track, and press "Start" until their name is called. Cars which have completed a lap, MUST STOP and join the cars which haven't gone for their lap yet. This way, the race will not end, with drivers who still haven't run their lap.

Starts of each lap will be staggered by a minute. This means, that the first driver in Group B, leaves at the 1 minute Total Time Race Timer (TTRT.) After that, the next Group B driver will leave, at the 2 minute mark, on the TTRT, and so on. After that, the drivers will subtract a number of minutes from their time, depending on the order they begin their lap in. (First driver removes 1 minute. Second driver removes 2 minutes, and so on.) Timing Marshalls will verify that this is done correctly. Once the drivers have their times, and have compared them, and the Timing Marshalls have taken note of the lap times, the drivers will finish the second lap, in the order given by the timing marshalls.

Example:

Driver 1: 5:04.833-1 minute=4:04.833
Driver 2: 6:02.566-2 minutes=4:02.566
Driver 3: 7:01.800-3 minutes=4:01.800
Driver 4: 8:08.000-4 minutes=4:08.000

Therefore, the order would be Driver 3, Driver 2, Driver 1, Driver 4.

Notes helpful to Timing Marshalls:

Timing marshalls are the back bone of the series. We demand an unbiassed and honest approach to Timing Marshalling. It's greatly appreciated!

You will not *JOIN* the race. Instead, you will spectate the other drivers, in the class you are Marshalling for.

You will take note of the order, in which the drivers leave. You will take note of any early/late "false starts." You will take note of the times when the drivers are done their laps. You will check the times the drivers claim to have run. You will post the times on GTPlanet, in this thread.

In plain English: Write down what the drivers run, settle disputes, and post the times the drivers run on GTPlanet, in this thread. Simple. :)

Notes helpful to a supervisor:

Hey, it's okay, I'll do that myself!

Reserved for points standings, points system, and track roster!

Tracks:

Tracks will be created by me, or any other member of the Team of Stewards (ToS,) and will not be driven by anyone, until the series begins.

However, classing and pre-season testing will take place at Eiger Nordwand W Trail.

Thinking of signing up, but have a quick question, why aren't you using the rally tracks in the game, mainly charmonix and eiger full versions??

Edit: Forgot to ask, when will the events take place?

The schedule (in terms of dates) haven't been decided, and therefore have also not been released yet. We're hoping, that once this series gathers worthy attention, we'll be able to discuss the dates as a community. :)

In terms of the tracks we will be using, we aren't willing to announce the tracks yet, but, in the calendar, you can see which sorts of "regions" we will be visiting. I have prepared/chosen all of the tracks, and, yes, "chosen" is bolded. (Nudge, nudge...)

Is everyone somewhat free later on in the evening on weekdays? If so, please post a date, on which you have the most time.

Hate to be anal but its group B rally cars (RS200, S4 ect) not group C :sly:.

I'll keep an eye on this. Schedule permitting, I'd like to join.
You can put me down for the Evo Super Rally Car.

I'm interested but have to know the dates and times before I can confirm my entry

I'm thinking of a weekday evening schedule, but, not too late. Hopefully, maybe, around like 5 PM my time, which is 11 PM your time, rallymorten. I could try to arrange it sooner.

Niop, a majority of our drivers will be centered around WRC cars, and the 90s cars and 2000s cars will be competitive against themselves, and each other. There's just one catch; I'm running some testing, to see what sort of lap times people can run. From a standing start, in a stock WRC car (Recommended car list) I can run 1:10s at Eiger Nordwand W trail. This puts me, for example, in Group B. The WRC guys run 1:11s from a standing start there, the historics guys run 1:12s and slower.

So, unless you're too fast, or too slow, you can drive the Lancer Evo Super Rally Car. :) Good luck!

I'm hoping to run this with my friend Polarbear345 (a member of the Team of Stewards from my ITCC series, and head steward of the Rolex Series) during the summer months (July/August,) at hours enticing to both students and adults. I promise you all I WILL MAKE TIME FOR YOU!

The lobby doesn't have to be run at the same time, for all three continents of GT5 gamers. I could run a lobby for Europeans at 9 PM GMT, and a lobby at 9 PM EST for Americans (people who live in North, Central, or South America.)

-Thread dead. :nervous: Sorry guys, not enough interest. I'm running a new series, though. It's a part of my other series, directly, but will have different drivers.

I just wanted to know if it did come back, could I run a group a style V3 STI ,Colin McRae/Carlos Sainz/Pirro Liatti style?
