So I just started a thread on F1 2012 in the Console and PC Gaming subforum after having searched inside that particular subforum for a thread on it, of course I didn't find one because there's a whole different subforum just for Codemasters' F1 series. Fair enough, I should have thought 'hang on, there must be a reason why this thread doesn't exist' but the fact is when I look at the Gaming forum list I only see some GT-related stuff, sim racing hardware and general gaming, I've never even noticed the F1, iRacing and Other subforums (exaggeration, but they do slip my mind).
Long story short, I think the Gaming forum is inconsistent and a bit weird. Examples:
- Codemasters' F1 series and iRacing are on the same level as Gran Turismo, but this isn't GTandCodemastersF1andiRacingplanet.net last time I checked! Nothing wrong with them having their own forums, but why only those two and not, I don't know, Codemasters' Dirt series, Simbin's titles, rFactor 1 & 2, Project CARS and so on as well?
- Grand Theft Auto is listed in 'Other' alongside a pile of racing/driving sims and games.
- Need For Speed, presumably referring to any and every NFS game ever, is in one subforum yet Ferrari Challenge and Supercar Challenge, two almost identical games, have their own subforums.
- Minecraft and BF3 have over 10,000 replies in their own threads but no subforum, that's well over 9,850 replies more than the entire Grand Prix Legends forum!
So that's just some of the things I don't get. My suggestion is that we have a structure like the following:
- GT5
- GT6
- GT Academy 2012
- Previous GT games
- ForzaPlanet.net link
- Racing games and sims
-- Codemasters' F1 series
-- Codemasters' Dirt series
-- iRacing
-- Etc. and so on
- General gaming
-- Minecraft
-- Battlefield 3
-- Call of Duty
-- Etc. and so on
- Gaming hardware
-- Computers and TVs (maybe?)
-- Consoles
-- Controllers
-- Sim racing wheels
-- Sim racing stands
-- Etc. and so on.
I don't know, it's just an idea, I thought I'd put it out there. No harm (nor judgement) in brainstorming, right?
Thanks.
