We all know we can listen to our own music while playing GT5, so I would like to start a tread where you can recommend other players some interesing combinations of songs, specific cars (or types) and courses which are worthy of listening to in GT5 while pure driving, doing time trials or racing.

Songs can come from some movies, video clips, from the same years or have something in common with given cars. As I am not a native English speaker I don't take any greater notice to their lyrics and meaning. Just pure pleasure during a race or a cruise.

Because I've also got Forza Motorsport 4 (some of you too) I will occasionally give examples of cars in that game (when the given car can't be found in GT5, or is not a premium car - listening to music while driving in cars with fully modeled interiors makes me more pleasure and fun).

I'll start with a few examples.

1.

Author: Jamiroquai

Title: Cosmic Girl

Recommended cars: primarly FERRARI F40, you can also use 512 BB or Lamborghini Countach '88. In FM4 you can choose F40, F355 or Diablo.

Recommended courses: long winding roads, especially Toscana Tarmac in the course maker (time elapse on, manual gearbox, flashing with headlights) or Lamborghini Seasonal Event on that course, Grand Tour event with Murcielago.

2.

Author: Moby

Title: New dawn fades (Heat soundtrack)

Recommended cars: fast sport cars like Chevrolet Corvette Z06 or ZR1.

Recommended courses: night tracks like Special Stage Route 7 or Route 5

3

Author: Metallica

Title: Fuel

Recommended cars: classic and modern American muscle cars

Recomended tracks: High Speed Ring, SSR7 or Laguna Seca

3.

James Bond 007 theme

Recommended cars: Aston Martin DB9 or Vanquish (in FM4 of course DB5)

Recommended courses: Eiger Nordwand

4.

Author: Chicane

Title: Saltwater

Recommended cars: Lamborghini Aventador

Recommended courses: Special Stage Route X

5.

Author: Jan Hammer

Title: Miami Vice opening theme

Recommended cars: Ferrari 512 BB (in FM4 Ferrari GTO '84 or 512 Testarossa)

Recommended courses: city tracks like Madrid or Rome

6.

Author: Robert Tepper

Title: No easy way out (Rocky IV soundtrack)

Recommended cars: sport cars from the '80s

Recommended tracks: night tracks like SSR5

7.

Author: Bruce Springsteen

Title: Born in the USA

Recommended cars: classic and modern American muscle cars (preferably premiums) (in FM4 also Chevy Corvette C2 Sting Ray - stunning interior - and almost very generation of Pontiac Firebird)

8.

Author: Saxon

Title: Ride like the wind

Recommended cars: Aston Martin V10 Vantage

9.

Author: BB King

Title: The Blues come over me

Recommended cars: Buick Special '62

Recommended tracks: Toscana roads just for cruising

So don't hesitate and post here your ideas and recommendations :):):)

Just grab any older Porsche and hit the gravel!
Oh wait! Maybe in the next iteration..

Anyway, a great song for a great ride.

The Beatles-Drive My Car

Not just because of the name, it's great driving music. Good for racing, not so much fr driving in circles in an online lobby.

I personally enjoy classic rock in my '66 cobra.

Dubstep when I drift in my LFA or YellowBird.

And during enduros I usually put my iPod on shuffle and listen to all genres

Cruising The Green Hell, at night with heavy rain.
Any modern premium with good headlights and a sexy dash..

An awesome song, indeed. As you say, just grab any older RUF;) and hit the Toscana tarmac. Even stock Yellowbird becomes driveable on these winding roads although "it's not so easy to control"!

Skrillex- Reccomended for Le Mans at night in a premium Group C car. With extra zoom.

Definately pumps me up and keeps me concentrated when I cant see more than 50 ft in front of my car.

^^^zonda C12s- at daytona^^^

^^^Pontiac tempest- Laguna Seca^^^

^^^'69 Camaro SS (or '68 Camaro Z28 premium...), Toscano^^^

Top gun movie theme song whilst driving any redbull x2010/11 on route x track with time set at daybreak seems to stir my soul also when I drove my chevrolet camaro Z28 '69 RM on the classic musle car championship seasonal while I was on daytona oval deep purple's highway star played which I felt was fitting :)

From the songs that are available in GT5, these are my favourites:

Casino Drive - Kemmei (Lounge Music)
An "Ocean's Eleven" beat, excellent for slow motion shots of that Camaro or Challenger passing by the casinos and the expensive yachts at Monaco. Rome, London and Madrid are also excellent choises, as well as Special Stage Route 7.

The Lisbon Maru - **** Buttons (Dance & Electronic)
An epic electronic track, growing in intensity over time (track length 9:20). The best music for epic sunrises over epic tracks.

7 Days Reminiscence - Taku Yabuki (Jazz)
A soft piano based jazz track. Works best for relaxed cruising in luxury cars (a Mercedes-Benz or a Jaguar ideally, but a Skyline Sedan will do too).

Memorabilia - Ibid. (Jazz)
Same as above, but more vivid and should go with small lightweight sportcars (convertibles) with small engines. An untuned Lotus Elise, Mazda MX5 or Suzuki Cappucino.

Sun Seeker Noisever - Mitsuharu Ura & Furani (Lounge Music)
An epic saxophone from far away, telling the story of a big city night. Could be a soft soundtrack from Grand Theft Auto. Works great for late night city drives.

Amazing Grace (Classic (although Jazz would be a better description in my opinion))
Beautiful arrangement of a great spiritual song. The song only really works in the Nissan Leaf though, because all other cars are too loud. Of course, if you go to a rainy track and park your car, this song is very relaxing together with the sound from the rain.

Danny Boy (Classic)
Same as above.

Air on the G string - Bach / Lang Lang (Classic)
Well, Lang Lang is always Lang Lang. This song is also worth a parking in the rain.

Paul Oakenfold - Swordfish (the movie) album and everything Pendulum :)

Riders on the storm by the doors - special stage 7 when raining.

Crosstown traffic by jimi hendrix - any small city track packed with racers.

Black magic women-toscanna at night. Preferably in a muscle car.

I'm gonna have to go with..
Daft Punk-Emotion

It works the best I'd say with SSRX and any of your most favorite cars in the game. I prefer it with a Skyline or the 458 Italia.

I wish they would include an option to skip songs in GT5.

Sometimes when I start a race I want to skip to the next song playing but there's no option unlike other racing games.
