THE SERIES PAGE IS NOW UP ON GT5RACECENTRAL.COM! HEAD OVER THERE FOR FULL DETAILS!
After the success I had with my GT Race Mod Challenge earlier in the year, I've drawn up a quick draft of two new race series I plan to run in the summer. This is the headliner: a ten week open - wheel series using the Formula Gran Turismo.
Racing begins May 28th. The room will open up at around 11:15 pm EST. (USA).
So without and further ado, the details:
The Car
As you've probably figured out, the car that we'll run will be is the Formula Gran Turismo. This car can be bought in the Online Used Car Dealership. However, we will run under modified specifications. They are the following:
650 hp MAX, 710 kg MIN
(For those wondering, this is within current IndyCar specs.)
Outside of these restrictions, you'll be allowed to tune your car to your liking (i.e., downforce, suspension, gearing, etc.)
Race Format
- 30 minute practice/qulifying session
- Race, 1 hour+ in length, grid set by qualifying session
- One mandatory pit stop will be required. However, with the tire/fuel wear rate and race distance combination, you probably won't be able to go the full distance without stopping.
Tire Rules
I would like to do an prime/option tire system for this series. Each round will have two tire compound options to choose from, either soft/medium or medium/hard. You will have to run each tire compound for at least 5 laps during the race. All four tires on your car, at any given point in the race, must be the same compound. No mixing and matching compounds!
Schedule
If the tire rules above are going to be put into place, the following schedule also has the tire details for each round.
S/M = soft/medium
M/H = medium/hard
1. Tokyo R246 (S/M)
2. Suzuka (M/H)
3. Laguna Seca (S/M)
4. Indianapolis Oval (H)*
5. Circuit de la Sarthe (M/H)
6. Spa (M/H)
7. Monza (M/H)
8. Nurburgring GP/D (S/M)
9. Motegi Oval (H)*
10. Indianapolis Road Course (S/M)
Tie Breaker: TBA
*Ovals will be hards only.
Distances still to be finalized, but should last for over an hour in length.
Points
A win will be 10 points, second will be 9 points, third will be 8 points, and so on down to 1 point for positions 10 - 16. Since I know some guys (and girls) won't be able to make all races for one reason or another, points will be made up of your best 6 out of the first 9 races, plus points from the final. It boils down to your best 7 out of 10 races, but I want the people to show up for the final.
Other Room Settings
Drver Aids: ABS Only
Penalties: Will vary depending on location, would prefer to run without.
Boost: Off
Grip Reduction: Real
Slipstream: Weak
Tire Wear/Fuel Rate: Fast (?)
This series is also being promoted on gt5racecentral.com, and is also up in that site's forums as well (along with the BR-Z/GT86 support series.) My PSN ID is flip157, feel free to add me. Comment below if you're interested; feedback is always welcome and will be considered. Thanks!
