alrite, so heres my prob i know what all the types of drifts are and how to execute them, and i recently been doin them practically everyday for about 4 hours... i think im getting the hang of it becauz i can feel the car pulling in the direction of a turn thus making me counter steer and stuff... I showed my indo mate and he just totally confused me! i showed him a whole race of drift he jus sat there saying i had been "fishtailing the car" i really got pissed off... ill send a video in so u's can decide ill be using a r34 for the show..:odd:

ain't fish tailing where u put alot of power to the rear of the tires and let them smoke or u just peel out

Do u just oversteer at the exit of the turn? or do u slide through the whole turn?

Fishtailing is when you give to much throttle exiting a corner, and your rear-end loses traction, thus slinging it out a little. If you are doing this, then yes, you are not doing an actual drift, so try "fishtailing" a little earlier.:)

LOL! Just as Camaro said, if you're just oversteering your car at every turn then you're not drifting. Drifting is sorta oversteer with style, longer, smoother, and keeping a consistent angle.

i thought it was understeer, oversteer is when u can't urned the car and nice avatar bro

understeer is wheen the car wont turn enough.. oversteer is when it turns more than u expected... its all relative... relative...

well... u could argue that drifting is understeering... since ur making a car not spin out when it usually will... making an oversteer understeer...

what about counterster in thats a better way to put all of them in 1 right? just keeping your car in control

im not oversteering into the straight, and my angle is pretty consistent, and sumtimes i dont even need to punch the throttle, but i all comes out even if i countersteer perfectly...

Hi and welcome to

:)

Drifting is the art of controlling a car sideways. In order to control a car sideways, the car needs to oversteer. When the car oversteers, then the rear end of the car will lose traction and thus spin out of the corner. To control this, the driver has to countersteer so that the car can be guided out of the corner while maintaining oversteer.

If you watch CudaMan's Gran Dorifto and you think you are controlling the car like that, then you are drifting. You can download videos from the GTP Challenges and GTPDC to see if you are drifting correctly or not. There are a lot of resources in this forum, so try and utilize it ;)

I do not think I have answered your question with my fullest abilities because you are not providing enough information on how you are drifting. If you can, then other members and I can help you determine if you are drifting or not.

has anyone else noticed they can drift in LFS w/ out countersteering sometimes?n it feels damn good.

yea i kinda did that in a rush, no more worrying i got it rite now i bought a good friend that is and expert in drifting an he told i was doin drifting correctly so yea... no more need 2 worry about me:lol: yea u dont need to countersteer if u goin at the perfect perfect speed ive done it a couple of times made me really happy :D :D

If you have a bigger angle then counter steering becomes nessesary. . . if you do not need to counter steer at the end then you are race drifting, not exihbition drifting, both are cool, but there is a difference

hAAHAHH!! i levelled up pokemon style lol.... ok really bad joke....
its cool den i didnt even knowo i was race drifting i thought it was jus pure speed (race drift) hey btw what was the fastest drift speed as in mph/kph wise? i can get about 150 kph before pelting in the barriers...
