Hello GT Planet.

In many racing games since the great Daytona USA, cones have been rendered in glorious 3D, but never given the time they deserve, nor the polygons for that matter. These little lumps of witch hat shaped plastic save lives people, imagine a world with out them, a world of chaos, where do you park? Can I go in that slip road? Oh no, road works!!! A world with out cones is just plain wrong, my fellow GT Planet enthusiasts. It does not bare thinking about.,

Gasp in awe people, the cone in it's most common form, as seen on many roads, and other places where the use of a cone would be advantagous. It is among the lucky few cones that don't get nicked by drunk students.

This link above shows the use of cones, some saving lives, all making the world a better place for you, and me to live in.

Here is a prime example of a cone in it's youth, strong, red and coney.

The Gran Turismo series of games has recently got the so called "cone challenge", and after trying the cone mode out, I was shocked. The cones were of a sub standard quality. Now it may not matter to some of you "non hardcore" racer types, but to me it does. Cones are important, which is why PD must give the cones the respect they so rightfully deserve. They can not fob me off with cones that do not meet the mark!

When hit, the cones in GT4 simply to not bend, nor do they "flip" under the car as in real life, this is simply wrong people.

And they call it a simulation! Plus, cones are red, it is law, not...not bumble bee colour!

Opinions people?

Cones are all well and good but what about the L4T6-RFK Motorway Maintainence cone with light accessory :

Personally I will not buy the game until I see this cone featured in GT4.

Without cones the whole fabric of society would break down & we'd be no more civilised than a common frozen pea.

Maybe they couldn't have red cones because of some licensing law.

Don't you know? That's why the game is being delayed. PD are waiting for EA's exclusive rights on red cones to expire

(sorry just had to say it)

Maybe Code_kev graduated from the JohnBM01 School of Forum Making ("Can PD learn...ID? (SUPER SPECIAL TOPIC) shows it best).

Anyhow, moving on. If this thread seems pointless, let me make a seperate issue on cones. When it comes to cones, I don't want to automatically fail a test because I knock out a cone. Sometimes I would drive pretty bad to take out anything in my path, even if cones are in the vincinity of my spinning machine. Maybe they should have any color cones for normal tests. I don't care even if they are hot pink with strobelights on them, or yellow with pictures of Big Bird on them, or purple with Barney on it, or black and red with Mickey Mouse. I say that these normal cones block off what you're not supposed to race at, and if you knock one out, the race time will add one second to the final time. And if you want to get technical, how about a quick slowdown, then a boost off if you try that in a race? Like imagine you hit a cone at 175mph in American measurments or 260 kph in Japan or England (I'm just guessing speeds. I don't know KPH. Treat them as two different speeds). If you knock out just one cone or place marker, you will slow down first and foremost to pace lap speeds. Then one second will be added for the penalty. For each additional cone knocked out, each extra cone will add a one-second penalty. So if you knock out 5 cones in a row, you're looking at a slowdown, plus 5 seconds before you go full throttle.

I mean, that's what I think about cones in GT4 from a cosmetic or a technical standpoint. So what do you think?

Btw in England we still use Mph ;) Thats why we moan about km/h in GT games :D

I'd still like cars measured in KG though

it's km/h's and kg's for me, but wouldn't it be a good idea if you could just change these things in the option menu? it's not that hard......

Excellent point. My friend told me that FORZA for xbox has cones with realistic physics and the damage, so I'll probably get that instead......

Actually, those are the Japanese cones. It's painted to look like bees, because when people see bees, they either stay still, or run. In any case, they will steer clear of the cones. EDIT: Guy playing the GT4 in the picture is obviously not Japanese.

And in GT4, do the cones just disapear? They did in GT4P if I recall correctly.
In real life, cones don't disapear. They get caught under your car and then smell like EBrake or bad clutch. Thats what GT5 needs. A smellerizor.

Wait let me get this straight just cause the cones are not red and do not bend many ofyou will not buy GT4..........Consider me on this short yellow bus ......i agree aswell this is scandalous.....since we are going about how real gt4 should be ......i will also not buy this game until they include they add flying birds....and they explode as you hit them with your car....that would be nice:d:D:D:D:D:D:D

Policeman: Yeah, we’re questioning one bloke. The other bloke… he seems to have disappeared. There’s a woman in the car. Out.
Policeman: So, let’s get this straight. Your wife was driving?
Alan: Yes.
Policeman: You felt a bit sick?
Alan: Mmm-hmm.
Policeman: So you asked for her to pull over so you can get a traffic cone to be sick into?
Alan: Yes.
Policeman: Why?
Alan: I didn’t want to be sick on the road. The cars might, you know, skid on it and crash.
Policeman: There was another fellow with you. Where’s he gone?
Alan: He ran off over there. He got scared and ran away. He was in the army and I think he saw people being blown up, all like that, and, erm…
Policeman: Do you want to know what I think? I think you’ve got a very vivid imagination.
Alan: I wasn’t trying to steal a traffic cone!
Policeman: I’m not saying you’re stealing it. I’ve not said that. Why are you saying that? Why are you saying steal?
Alan: Because to an innocent bystander, it could – may – look like traffic cone theft. And I am an innocent bystander, and to me it looks like traffic cone theft.
Policeman: But it’s not.
Alan: But it’s not.
Policeman: What’s your name?
Alan: Bill.
Policeman: Bill?
Alan: Caarr. Bill Carr.
Policeman: Where do you live, Bill? What’s your address?
Alan: King Road…King Road…
Policeman: Is there a number?
Alan: Ten! King Road in… Ipswich.
Policeman: Where are you going now?
Alan: I’m going to go home, and just probably go straight to bed and keep out of trouble.
Policeman: Good, good. We’ll let this go, but I don’t want to see you here again, alright?
Alan: OK, thank you
Alan: Right, go. Just drive away. Drive away normally.panicking.
Alan: Stop panicking! Start the engine.
Alan: Oh, you’ve set the alarm off!

More cone's, like to see the wee ones in GT4(may be difficult to see)

Now they are making cone stabilisers(in case of high winds) Good job guys

cones_stabilizers1_lg.jpg

Can't wait to see the cones in GT4!

I know you're not serious.

Put the controller down and take a nap if you are.

You're right. This was stupid when it was started and it's gone downhill in the intervening 9 or so months.
