GT4 Toyota Prius Demo (Pics and Video inside)

I received my demo in the mail with a few other goodies on Tuesday. For those who could not get the disc, I took some screenshots and made a replay video.

The disc consists of two tracks, Fuji Speedway and Grand Canyon, and two vehicles, the Prius and the Motor Triathlon Race Car. The options include: choosing what type of tires to use, TCS, and VSC. Yet, you can only drive using automatic. When you enter a race, you have a 120 second limit, enough time for the Prius to get around Fuji if you're a good driver. The HUD displays exactly what the Prius shows in the car's display LCD. The hybrid engine has an electric motor and a normal combustion engine. The HUD shows which engine is sending power to the wheels. The HUD also displays how many miles to the gallon the Prius is currently using and how much is has consumed. As for the MTRC, it's HUD shows all four wheels and how they are reacting to the surface and includes a G meter. The music is the same found in Prologue and so are the graphics (2D crowds). The controls seemed improved over GT3. They are more sensitive to degrees of pressure, other than that, exactly the way GT3 is set up (minus up and down shift). The demo also comes with promotional items for the Prius.

I wasn't really impressed. Don't get me wrong. I am more than confident that GT4 will be the undisputed racing king of all time, but the demo sucked.
 
Part of me is almost surprised to see GT selling out like this to be honest.

My download has also hung on 82%, hooray.
 
Yahel owns, i wish GT's soundtrack would feature music from BT, Yahel, Astral Projection etc - that would make those longer races so much better... too bad they'll probably use some meh punkrock again - i hope that they'll include custom soundtrack options for GT4 and HDD :)
 
Yeah, GT does need more techno genre music. I've been messing around with my replays and adding techno music to the background, replacing the stock music. Trance and progressive sound very good with GT.

How do you race against the other prius? In my demo they had a time limt and only get to race against yourself? yeah i was pretty disapponited (SP?) with the Toyota version of the demo but the most amazing thing other then the graphics and all was the the other toyota i cant rember the name will adjust the height automatically!

I think the reason its only in automatic is because the real prius uses a CVT trany or something. it stands for something along the lines of C___ variable transmission. it uses a pully system, so there arent actually any gears, but an infinite amount of settings, though there are preset settings to match normal tranny gears. i think most or all electric hybrid cars on the market use CVTs, and i think i read that even the nissan murano or whatever uses it also.
 
That missing C is "Continuously"

I had my demo for a few days now, I don't mind that it's such a short demo. At least I can have some practice with the 900 degree mode.

anyway, given the cars, it just doesnt make sence for gear shifting, although it would have been nice to see a car where that option was available. Anyone find a way crack that two minute time limit? And I wonder if theres a way to race with the full prius grid as in the replay. 900deg is awesome by the way

Yeah, I've also had my demo for a couple of days and I must 900 degree mode rules :)

Now I can't wait for GT4
