For me, it's a toss up between Will Ferrell and Jerry Seinfeld. Skits-wise it would be Dave Chappelle. Even though he is a racist piece of ****.

Oh, Will Ferrell, definitely.
Robin Williams was pretty good live on Broadway.

Farley did some cool stuff.
'When did you meet Will Smith?'
'Over the weekend you stupid *****!'

Will Ferrell would be my second choice, he was very funny on SNL. Especially the cheerleader skit.

Hell, I can't pick just one.

Jerry Lewis deserves (at least) a mention if you ask me.
Chris Farley as Matt Foley was always a kick, it wasn't just his physical comedy (slamming onto prop tables or going through windows) the way he acted and looked was just funny.
Chris Kattan could pull some excellent skits too, when paired with Farrell even more so. One last SNL cast member I have to mention is Darrell Hammond, his Sean Connery act on Celebrity Jeopardy was awesome sometimes.

Most good stand-up comedians I can't remember now, but I have seen Bernie Mac in action and he's not bad, Chris Rock can do well sometimes too.

Chris Kattan had me laughing pretty hard as Mango.
But you've got to have serious composure to play Trebek on Celebrity Jeopardy without cracking up. Will's the man.

I'd add Dane Cook to the list.

Jay Mohr.

That guy has me in tears when I listen to him.

He's great too. Anyone watch his show, Last Comic Standing? One of the few reality shows I watch on TV.

EDIT: I knew this thread topic sounded familiar. Click Me

Yeah, I've seen his show "Last Comic Standing" but I much prefer his stand up routine.

I loved his schpiel on soap and how it's the only thing in the world that you can take straight from the crack of your ass and then put it on your face.

Bill Hicks. Although I've heard of him, I never heard any of his material, or even knew he was a comic until last night.

Whoever the guy was who played the Funkmaster in the MAD TV skits. And Dave Chappelle. Other than that I don't know of many American comedians (other than comedian actors).

I love stand-up comedy. There's an hour of it every night on one of the cable channels we get.

My favourites are Billy Connolly and Dara O'Briain. I loved the Denis Leary "No Cure for Cancer" show as well.

Bill Bailey
Billy Connolly
Eddie Izzard (of a few years back. Sexie wasn't as good as some of his older stuff)
Lee Evans (Stand up only. His TV shows are rubbish, although Mousehunt was funny)
Alan Davies
Ed Byrne (Although I've not seen anything of his for ages)
Ardal O'Hanlon

Lewis Black is god in the comedy field.
Then, I'd say for backups:
Pablo Francisco,
Kevin James,
and some George Carlin for fart jokes.

Old school: George Carlin. (Haven't heard much from him lately.)

New School: Lewis Black.

Rob's mention of Jay Mohr is a fair one, but I've got to admit I hate stand-up comedy today. Turn on Comedy Central and it's always "black people do this... but white people do this!" Ha ha ha. Stand-up comedy here has become unbelievably racial, and Dave Chapelle is far and away the worst offender. He's horrible.

George Carlin. hands down.

the kind of fart whereas you begin to notice there are no more birds in your neighborhood.

I love both of his cars and driving skits, hilarious IMO. "PULL OVER PULL OVER PULL OVER!!!!! they pull over, you keep goin."

have a nice day!

I like lewis black's stuff.ya know why there isn't any soy milk? no soy titties.

george carlin
Dennis Miller (even though some of his jokes fly straight past me, he's still hilarious)
