Please, let's have a thread which will be very comprehensive and meaningfull in this situation of extreme crisis:).

No whining here. There are few important Q about the releases here, and I'm sure all of us would like to have a specific place for specificanswers on those questions. So, anyone who thinks that can contribute with the accurate infos about those Q's, feel free to reply.

I'll do my best to edit and organise all those answers right here, in the first thread, so we can have comprehensive database of Q's for all the users who needs infos on this specific subject.

1. When the GT4 is going to be released in following territories:

- Japan (NTSC) - 3rd December 2004.

- China / HK / "Asia" (NTSC) - 3rd December 2004

- USA (NTSC) - 14th December 2004

- Australia (PAL) - N/A

- Europe (PAL) - 23rd February 2005.

2. Will the Japanese / China / HK game have the English language option?

HK / China version, AKA, "Asia" version of the game could have the English option. However, this information still have to be officialy confirmed. Japanese version so far do not have an English option.

3. Will there be any Special Edition of GT4 for some markets and under which terms?

SCEI (Sony Japan) is offering an lowered price and Special Edition of GT4 with "Makoing of GT4" DVD, few GTPhotomode photos and GT keyring for all the pre-orders via their site http://www.jp.playstation.com/Item/2/6169089.html. Terms of payment or delivery into countries outside Japanese unknown.

On 3rd December SCEI will also release a special PlayStation Racing Pack consising of GT4 and new, slim PS2 model, for the price of 24,990 yen (183 eur / 205$). As PR text is saying, box is designed by Kaz personally. This limited offer will be avalible during the holliday season. Pictures in attachment.

4. From which SECURE ENABLED and legaly-checked Internet-sites can Japanese / China / HK version of GT4 be pre-ordered? What is the usual delivery period to the countries of USA or EU? Price of postage?

www.play-asia.com (credit card only VISA and MasterCard, shipping worldwide, delivery subject to option)

www.lik-sang.com

5. What do I need to play the Japanese NTSC import game on the NTSC US consoles?

Swap disc hardware / software or mod-chip. NOTICE THAT MOD-CHIPPING YOUR CONSOLE DESTROYS THE OFFICIAL WARRANY.

6. What do I need to play the NTSC import game on the PAL consoles?

Swap disc hardware / software or mod-chip. NOTICE THAT MOD-CHIPPING YOUR CONSOLE DESTROYS THE OFFICIAL WARRANY.

Thanks in advance to all who will positivelly contribute to the issues in this thread. And plea to mods to delete inapropriate posts to avoid cofusion.

6. Why would you want do do that when you get the games first anyways?

because the Pal release date has been pushed back to some time in 2005.

6. Looks like mod chips are the only way unless there is a new version of the disc swap thingy* that can handle dual layers.

*technical term

as far as i know, the PAL version isn't pushed back.......

3. there will be a special gt-pack released, with a ps2 and one with a steering-wheel.

And, on a side note, enough complaining already, everybody. Either buy the game when it comes out, and be happy about it, or don't buy it on principle due to the "offensive" delays. If you're serious, vote with your wallet - the only way that counts. Otherwise, SHUT UP about it.
So isn't it allowed to express the anger of the gaming community? Where else should we do that? Is this only a hip-hip-hoera forum then?

The date in America is december 14th exactly, it's official.

i heard they were "aiming for" it but didnt hear the word ''official'' yet, are u sure its official? not tryin to start an argument btw, lets keep it friendly 👍

Btw, mod-chipping your PS2 is not illegal. Using copys or 'backup's of games downloaded or bought underground is. The act of modchipping is not, unless there's a specific country with this particuliar low. By doing so, you can purchase a game online and play it (EU -> NTSC) when it comes out.

If it´s not illegal then why does Microsoft ban a console from the Live! when you try to log on with a modded XBox?

Lmao good ol'Micro****

Modchip's, Burning ripping etc. are all LEGAL unless youre SELLING it. If the cops were to raid youre house and find youre burnt games, modchip, etc. they cant do anything about it. Theyll only ask you where you got it from. If it was illegal then why can you buy a DVD burner and blank dvd-r's from walmart? that would be like handing a seriel killer a gun?!!?

Er atleast i think/hope it is :nervous:

PAl version will I believe have a hell of a lot more language options that JP or North America, hence more developement time !

Because they can't control if you version of the game is legit or not. By that act, Microsoft would become an accessory to piracy to every user using a modchip.

Once every consoles that comes out have a HD, perharps we'll see the begining of Serial numbers for games... or stuff like that. But for now, Modchips are not supported because of Online play. But they are not illegal, since there are legal usage to it, like playing Imports.

Hi everyone!

What I don't understand is: Sony says that the release of the game was delayed cause Polyphony needs more time than expected to translate it to 13 different languages. But why's the game been delayed for Australia then? An english version should be available on December 14. at the latest, when the US version arrives.

So, if this delay has nothing to do with ntsc -> pal trouble, why the delay for Australia?

Cheers,
the Interceptor

There are probably going to be slight differences in some of the cars paint jobs and/or some of the advertisments on course billboards and whatnot, as well as different model names for some of the cars. For example, The Dodge Viper Oreca from GT3 on NTSC was called the Chysler Viper Oreca and had a different paintjob on the PAL version. I wouldn't expect there to be that many differences to cause a massive delay, escpecially to English speaking countries. Probably less than a month, but you never know...

Meaningful thread as always amar212. I would like to add that the language localisation issue is only partially responsible for the delay. Kazunori has noted on a number of occasions that optimising the game to run acceptably in the PAL TV format is a time consuming process.

In regard to English options in the NTSC/J versions:
-Japanese lang editions often contain partial English/engrish.

-Chinese lang edition games (HK) often offer a complete English option (like in the case of GTC) However, if the option does not surface the Chinese version will be the most difficult to navigate.

Nonetheless one of the delay threads has a translated Chinese link that suggests the option will be available. I’m importing both to be safe.

Finally, the Chinese version is being released simultaneously with the Japanese language version. (See Play-Asia) As in the case of prologue, it is likely that the majority of the first copies shipped to the west will be of the Chinese variety.

I tried to reacquaint myself with GT3 today. The old girl hasn't aged well... but I had some fun with a TVR griffith on apricot hill. Not that it makes up for the lack of GT4 in any conceivable way.

Hiya! :D :O  Meow! (='.'=)

Um... excuse me! :O What you said about special GT-pack, where did you find this information from? :odd:

I would have thought the PAL code would have been done and dusted ages ago. Surely for the last few months the game has been tweaked to death, to make sure there are no bugs etc. The guts of the game looks like it was completed by at least the TGS. Of course, if there was a 60hz option that would make the delay easier to digest.
I'm not sure if it's all about languages. Supposedly there are 13? That's not possible, is it? No console game to my knowledge has ever had more than 5 or 6 languages to choose from. Maybe they meant 13 countries?

Modchipping is illegal in the UK fullstop. Importing is the only answer for getting GT4 early in the UK.
Well, it looks like I'll be living my GT4 life vicariously for the next couple of months through the excellent posts, videos and pics at Gtplanet.net! 👍

To actually answer one of Amar's questions:

play-asia.com is a secure site that ships worldwide for $3.10. Of course that will take 1-2 weeks at that price, which is why I opted for the $20.00 2-4 day shipping. So I'm looking at about December 6th!

That's like rewarding Sony because of their doubtfull launching strategy. They will be encouraged.

I'd rather look for another way, but that's illegal and can't be discussed here ... :scared:

Yup, according to a press release on the Sony PS2 HK site, the HK/China version will be released on the same day as Japan (Dec 3rd)... it will also contain an option to choose between a Chinese and English menu... no word on whether the special making-of DVD package will be available...

Then maybe I´ll get the Chinese version, since it has English language option. Does china uses KMH? That would be great!

I'll put a link to this thread in my Answers thread, nice work Amar 👍

BTW, amar for unconfirmed, I think you misspelled it, just a heads up ;)
