After seeing a few posts lately from those GT gamers who have either built or bought some type of racing simulator in order to make their GT playing time more enjoyable, I thought I'd post this information in hopes of providing a quick reference guide to anyone else out there who is thinking about it but doesn't really know where to look.

Racing Simulators/Cockpits:

BRD
Game Frame
Race Frame Pro
NOTE N. American Distributor is Trinity Racing Concepts

NOTE 1: Prices starting as low as $150 and can peak at just under $1,000
NOTE 2: Most major countries are representative...(N. American, Oz, Asia & Europe to name a few) so delivery should be fairly easy, simple & cost effective!
NOTE 3: If anyone knows of a sim/cockpit that is mass producted commercial product and is not on this list, please send email to: simracedriver@yahoo.com please and let me know the name and/or URL...
NOTE 4: For those with the skill & know-how, if interested, here is sim cockpit you can build

I hope this list provides some helpful information to those who are interested!

That's nice, how did you achieve the framework?
I welded it together. Took a lot of time, sitting in my garage with the steering wheel in my hand in different positions, to find the correct one. Good that the neighbours didn't see me :)

Cool sites. I think I'll at least try to build one first.

In that case, just in case you missed it, check out the link in NOTE 4...I think you may find it pretty cool & easy to build..! Good luck 👍

I thought you welded it. Damn my experience of binding metal is non existent. How can I get a welding torch? Is it safe to weld with no experience? How long would a welding job of that size (your project) take to complete?

how's about this thread be stickied? There's a lot of questions regarding Cockpits that pop up every now and then?

There's one other I've found that is pretty simple but much cheaper than all the others. It's called the Wheel Station 2 and costs $40 plus $20 shipping (in the US). It might work for the budget-conscious.

Just trying to add another option. This looks simple enough to build yourself, but looks can always be deceiving.

You can make something like me if you have 2 days ;)

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=50962

i would do that
but i dont have that much space in my room

i'm probably gonna find solution at ikea first before i'll actually make something...
with GT3, i already planned on making something that i did not do in the end and eventually selling the old wheel

but after trying GT4P with Driving Force, there is no way i'll play GT4 without a wheel

See, most of those aren't even Playstation 2 compatible. There PC compatible.

EXCUSE ME?
What list where you looking at? Every single one of those is either made specifically for console gameing or [highly] compatible with it...
NOTE: The ONE exception being the Race Frame Pro from BRD...BUT I can tell you it works just as well for my PS2 & GT3...as seen here

After reading your comment, I guess I shouldn't mention these two others that I somehow left of the list:
1. Vision Racer
or
2. Frex

because in those picutures, you may mistakenly confuse those PS2 Logitech Wheels as those of being some high caliber PC racing wheel...or maybe confuse that screen shot of GT3 as a screen shot of GPL or something...right?

Your comment was funny! :D

To the question about welding. If you have access to a MIG welder this is the best type of project to learn on. I say that as it's not going to cause death or injury if you didn't weld correctly. I do suggest you have someone who has experience in welding present. The hardest part is setting up the welder for the thickness of steel your going to be welding. I weld all the time but actually going to build a dedicated Formula Style cockpit out of wood. If my cockpit was going in front of the living room TV I would make it out of light weight steel, That is the advantage of steel. High stength to weight ratio. But my cockpit is going to be in my spare room, with it's own TV, so it won't need to be moved. That's why I choose wood.

Living in HK, our house is not as large as the one in North America
I really one to buy one of those to fix my DFP, however most of those are pretty expensive, anyone know something that's cheaper (say less than US$100) and is foldable or at least easy to store.

I think the best thing would be to save up a bit more money and go for something like the RaceBase ...
NOTE: You can purchase the D.I.Y. (Do It Yourself) plans & build it yourself....however the cost of the plans & materials may exceed your current budget...but it's just an option to consider! :)

Nice thread, really good info,

however, even if most of the sims ain't that much of rocket science it would be nice of you guys that has tried some of them out to write down some kind of review - like, if they squeak, comfort, cool-factor ;-) and build quality.

best regards,
marcus, sweden

Hello chaps, I'm quite keen on the "GT2 gamepod" from ash, have any of you guys bought this one or now if its any good, it looks good enough on their website, but would like some nuteral feedback before forking out £350.. :)
