Well I raced alot and saved up $3.5 Mill to buy a '88 Jag XJR-9...I have it tuned where it is marginal at best on A-spec, but never seems to win much on B-spec...I bought it to beat the the GT World Championship in the Pro Events, and I wanted to be able to use it to B-spec the longest of the endur races worry free...Can't seem to do either with it, I have a better chance of winning with my 350Z LM, I race the tracks I like and take 1st - 3rd and try to use Bspec on the ones I hate and end up in 3rd-6th...I have stage 4 turbo and all racing tires...can somebody give me a full setting list for this thing B-spec friendly preferably...but I'll take a good A-spec one too, cuz mine arent the greatest. Either that or just tell me I wasted 3.5 mill...yes I know I get it 50% completion...I was pissed when I heard that, especially considering Im at 42.4% right now..by the way I do use TCS and lil ASM (oversteer and understeer gets lil crazy on this guy)..if it matters...sorry if I missed a post but I searched hi and low and all I could find was a XJ220 set-up
Thanks in advance

Don't have it yet, so I don't know how fast it is. If it isn't that great, get another car. Do you know about the DTM trick to pile up big bucks in a hurry? If not, here it is:

Run the second Special Condition (Easy) race twice and sell the two rally cars. Go to Germany and buy an Opel Astra Touring Car. Buy the Stage 3 NA upgrade. After an oil change you'll have 654 HP. Use this chassis setup:

http://www.gtvault.com/SetupDisplay.cfm?SetupID=0202J844508E887CA06240441

Use all these settings, but also turn the TCS up to 7.

Now go to the European Events and enter the Astra in the Deutsche Touring Car Meisterschaft (DTM), or, in English, the German Touring Car Championship.

B-Spec every event. Set the speed at 4, and leave "Overtake" on. Click R1 to display the map, then click and hold L1 while you D-Pad right to change the speed to x3, or three times normal. Each event will then only take about three minutes. If you choose to monitor things, you can blow through it all in about 17 minutes. When the prize money starts being awarded, press X or Start to speed up the process.

The prize car's resale value is 743,749. You get 15,000 for winning each event, and 75,000 for the championship, so your total haul for less than 20 minutes is 893,749.

Best of all, you can do other things while your B-Spec driver is piling up cash for you, like eating dinner or sorting socks.

Repeat early and often. I like to go through it three times while I'm getting ready for work. That's over 2,500,000 without even playing. At that rate, you can collect a bunch of very expensive cars in a hurry.

Use your pile of cash to get an Audi R8 or an '03 Pescarolo C60. The '03 C60 gets great tire life, giving it a big advantage over other Prototypes. Leave the suspension stock, turn off ASM, buy Stage 4 and R1, R2, and R4 tires, and have fun.

well thank you I have to try the DTM, I already have the MB CLK Touring on Maximum Pimp...so that should make it quick. I wish somebody had gear and suspension settings to make my Jag fly off the line like a 1166 hp monster should though, cuz pretty much right now Im thinkin I wasted 3.5 mill, I got antsy and should've save another million to get the pescarlo, audi or nissan. Anybody who has tamed the XJR-9, or anyone with any advice about it besides buy a new car, post it. I like the car's looks, real life racing history and high end charactoristics, so I would like to do well with it.

Bought a Jag tonight to try it out. I'm a habitual DTM spammer, so money is no object...

I see what you mean about the car. I haven't tried any suspension work yet, but in stock form its almost three seconds a lap slower around Tokyo R246 than a stock Pescarolo or Audi R8.

It seems very "drifty". I find myself correcting slides a lot. Its as if that very low rear wing is not generating enough downforce or something. Its also a tire-eater. It won't go ten laps on R246 with R3 fronts and R2 rears. The '03 Pescarolo makes it with ease.

The 5-speed transmission doesn't help either.

We're going to have to get the rear end glued down better to get it to be competitive. Think of it as a "project car" and work on it now and then. For now though, I'd let your B-Spec goon collect a bunch of cash for you, then pick up one of the LMP cars.

yeah I finally took out the GT world championship, I used the Jag to win the Minolta Toyota and won with ease in all 10 races with that....so it was the car after all, the lack of NOS, 5 speed tranny, terrible launch, driftiness and PATHETIC tire life just kill what should be a beautifully driving very fast car. I will try to get my best setting up on here soon and u get yours and we'll compare them. I cant do it right now, I'm in the middle of a nuraring 24 hr athon haha...figured that I have to get the F1 sometime. Now I just have to get that annoying Super licence. 18hr 36min into the the nuranburg 24 hr race, 25 laps ahead of 2nd, what a joke this is. Wish me luck haha. Also, since u got cash, figured u might know this...is the 600,000 Zonda any better than the 450,000? and what about Aston Martin's and TVR's, any favortites, or any I should stay away from? Thanks

Don't have 'em, so I don't know. All I'm doing so far is buying cars I'll need for race series, so I really don't have that many.

One thing, though: Just bought the BMW V12 LMP car and it is absolutely as good as the Peskies and the R8. I'd read on forums that a few thought it wasn't, but they obviously didn't have one. It's a major jet.

I'll put some more laps on it and check tire wear, but there's no doubt that its really fast in stock form.

yeah you need an aston and a TVR for the manufacturer races...but I dotn feel like buyin em all and finding the best...they are all pretty similar and Im not gonna but the TVR speed 12...cuz u win it and I heard it is like driving a dump truck neways

You didn't need to buy it. You get it as a prize car when you complete 50% of the game. I didn't care for it. It had bad brakes compared to other cars. It did have a good top speed and took the turns at high speeds. But, it was harder to tell when you were pushing too fast in turns. There were no warning sign s before spinning out of control, like with other cars.

So, I don't think I'll use it all that much. There are easier cars to use in GT4.

I have the same problem.

Trying to race with XJR-9 race car, which is total tire eater. Good suspension setting will help, but as somebody mentioned... maybe this car isn`t just a good option.

But my experience is, that nearly every rear drive car with 900bhp and more, is rear tire eater. It`s quite a problem, becouse it`s very hard to win in the extreme races.

The problem with the XJR-9LM is that it is a late 80s Group C car, based on a model from 1985. It is not as sophisticated as the R8, Bentley, Pescarolo, LMR etc.

The cars getting on now, you have to drive it with care.

Also whats the point in tuning the car upto 1100BHP+. In real life the most the car ever put out was around 780BHP. This car in stock form should be quicker over a lap than the 1100BHP version as you should have at least half a chnace to get the power down.

Increased power is not always the answer.

As a certain advertising slogan goes. 'Power is nothing without control'. :)

I have not got the Jag yet, but I undertook a little project to stop the Minolta eating is tyres. Check out the post regarding Major High tyre wear.

You're right.
With this amount of power in stock, 200Hp more don't add a big advantage, and tend to have a more unstable car. So ChiTownsFinest, I would suggest you first to keep off the extra power, it will also help to avoid wheelspin and destroying the tires.

I own the car, here is what i can say about it :

1. I agree with others, it provides a strange feeling sometimes, I think it understeers to much.

2. On the nurb in time trial mode, without TC / ASM, I was able to put a very good time, close to the best times i put with my C9, 787B or 88C-V, so the car has a good potential. But I also have to add it took me 3 tries, the first 2 I went off the track, for sure the car is not very stable.

3. In le Mans 1, it has been 4 seconds slower than the R92 (this one is a beast) on my first try for both cars. That's kind of disapointing, the Xjr9 won it (ok, 1988 edition, without the chicanes thought), the R92, never !

I'll try to find some settings further (yet i don't have time) and I'll let you know if I managed to. This car was a beast in its time and deserves a better destiny in this game.

Cheers,

Snypa

i do not have such problems with tyre wear on the high powered cars, if u are using the modded cars u should be screaming away in the lead by 5-10 secs a lap any way, use r2,3 or4 tyers and just go your hardest it shouldent be a problem, i speak from experience, had the game 1 and a half weeks and had begginer pro and extreem hall finished, using toyota 7, 88c-v and formula gt, whack up the downforce and fly, i am now 75% complete with shedloads of money, it just requires a litte fine tuning and perseveerance and you'll do it with ease
