Yeah I was just thinking that my weight penalty is gonna hurt me again here. All those long straights and uphill sections :grumpy:

well, qualify, no pit stategies or tire wear... a good chance to get back on the right track for me... love suzuka, lets get some action today... :)

speedy_samurai
ouch. once again, the heaviest car around. hehe
haha don´t complain about your car, looks to mine, GT300 power specs and catching your car up in weight, with now 1155 kg. :ouch: :nervous: :indiff: :guilty:

I told my teamate (GT_fan2005) to make sure he gets his time in or viper said he was out. guess what, he didn't send a time and I am the only one left on Team Zissou :(

I just hope I get enough time to do at least two runs for the race this week. This is definitley going to favor people who can smooth out their entire runs, given the difficult nature of the track (probably the most difficult track of the season).

I hate the first east part of the track but the rest is ok. At least I got some pratice in the motul z while golding the s- licenses

Just finished my qualifying run and I'm pretty happy with what I got. I'm hoping the 2% extra weight wasn't too much of a hindrance.

Would anyone be willing to be a back up for kenny this round in both the qualifier and the race? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I know this is Kenny's Idea and its hilarious, but I'll try it out for this week only, ok?

Dateline Suzuka City, Japan ---- August 2, 2005

Johnny Mack here reporting for More Broadcasting System (MBS), here with Randy W. Morgan, driver of the Killer Bumblebees #97 Nissan PENNZOIL Nismo GT-R '99. Tell me Randy, how is the car? "Its a little loose in some parts, qualifying was alright, drove fine on the Bridgestone Super Softs, but everything else was darty however." How good will be the car in the race? "We don't have much to win with, but I always give it my best shot. My teammate, GT_Masta has been doing a fantastic job for the both of us by fighting in the top half of the GT 300 field with his RX-7. The GT-R can still race, though so I am happy with the car." How do you feel about Laguna Seca being the last round? "I really love seeing the series in the year in the United States because the series needs a U.S. Round, but I would also like to see a night race myself because it would be killer!" Now for the final, and important question....Are you going to be back next year? "Johnny Mack, Yep, Yeah, and Heck Yes!!!! I will be back in the series, in this car, the GT 500 until further notice. This is the best situation I can be in, and I can't think of anything better than this. I have to thank the team sponsors Pennzoil, Nismo, and Nissan...but I also have to thank my personal sponsors Coca-Cola, Snap-on Tools, Nokia cell phones, Centennial Wireless, M3 Power by Gillette, and Bank of America, which just was added recently. Without these sponsors, I couldn't be here in this series." Thank you Randy, and good luck this week in Suzuka. "Thank you Johnny Mack, see ya in Laguna Seca."

In other news...this just in from the MBS studios... O's slugger R. P. tested postitive for steroids, so he be scratching himself for 10 days saying he didn't use steroids, and said this infront of a bunch of Washington D.C. senators........uh oh.... No wonder he had erticle dysfunction...up next "Shooting Stars"....
 :dunce: :D :O   :dopey:

yes i love that... kind like your signature...

really priceless, just keep writing guys... 👍

whew - finally finished w/ qualifying, missed my target time by .1 , thats about as fast as i can get it to go with 8% weight. This is going to be a fun race.
Fun in qualifying with RSS tires, can really hammer the turns and the car sticks to the road like a winged slot car. Now the race is going to be another subject, harder tires and keeping it on the track :yuck:

Hmm...that extra weight is starting to affect the balance of the car. There is a definite "sway" to the car in steady-state cornering (200R in particular) which makes it difficult to commit to the turns. Oh well, I ran a solid lap here. I know there's about 2 tenths to be squeezed out, but I just can't string it all together tonight :grumpy:

Time submitted. Good luck to everyone. I agree with my teammate, this is likely the most technical track on the calendar. I love Suzuka for this precise reason, but competing with you lot is a whole different ballgame to competing here against the AI

Time submitted, unfortunately only had about 10 laps to set a time so there is probably a second or two to be found in the lap.

Oh well, better than a ten second penalty. Bring on the race!!

Did my lap, contrariwise as the past weeks, now no way to down it more. I did one fluke lap without mistakes, i was going for this lap as the weight penalty made my car a poor one, so i will have to work hard to stand in podium.

I don´t see a further 0.1 of improvements, and this if im lucky tho.

In T1, basically i won´t do better, hited my best T1 so far, maybe with several hours more practicing i could down some very few more, but from what i see, there´s no further 0.1. :)

Played about 80 minutes in total, 50 min today and 30 yesterday. 👍

Hey hey, Pedal Mashers gets a good qual result!! 3rd and 1st :)

Nice time from veilside in the Z 👍

And good to see the Hondas up there again!

Wow I didn't expect 2nd place here with all that extra fat on the car. And oh look! A WedSport Celica took the podium again, what a surprise :sly:

Congrats to all the podium finishers

@eatsviper4lunch: When will you be updating the team and drivers' ranking thread with round 6? Things are pretty tight in all classes and we all want to see the margins we're trying to beat! 👍

good!!! second place start! just when i thought i had veilside beaten... just before the deadline he lowers his time and takes the pole... guess next time i won´t pause and save the lap just after having a 1´49 lap... i should kept running, my car had normal weight, so i could catch him...

but hey, i´m very happy with the results :dopey:

I'm gonna go run the s2000 lm against my celica ghost to see if it really is the car. Updates in a few minutes.

I'm not happy with my qualif, should have been in the high 1'58's, multiple laps I was ahead by .3 and .4 at T2 but screwed the rest. Bah, anyway it's only a qualif. :)

Ok, I tried the S2000 and amemiya rx-7 for about a few laps and got some interesting results. The rx-7 is notable slower, especially when accelerating out of corners and on straights, which I don't really understand when it has 10+ extra horsepower. However, the s2000 was faster than the weddsport, and I did a 1'57.8 in a few laps. It seemed to grip the road a bit better than the weddsport. I think the Amemiya could do for a little more HP to even it up.

If you haven't tested in race conditions you might want to before you make sugguestions to even the field. Tire wear is much different between these cars that you tested.

Crap, I didn't even realize the deadline came that fast being out of town and all....no worries, i'll be back for the race.
