Week 33 Drift Photo Competition Poll - VOTE NOW

Congratulation to all those that made it into the poll! Thanks to Coolgeekz for choosing the photos to go in the poll!

Im seeing many new faces entering the competitions which is good news. If you havnt made it into this weeks poll then please try again the latest DRIFT PHOTO COMPETITION! and if anybody needs some help or advice them just drop me a PM and i will help you out as much as i can

Think you made a slight booboo on the poll title there, it says "who will will?" instead of "who will win".

Close voting last round! I had the lead for the first 5 days I think, then out of nowhere came White SiR!! Oh well, maybe this round.

normally i don't vote in these - this will be the first time.
most weeks I don't even look at this thread.

anyways, I have a bone to pick with a few of the pics... hoping i don't offend anyone, but that may well be inevitable

In a lot of the pics (not all), the backgrounds are just slightly blurred. Now, i get the idea of blurring the background to create a sense of speed. But if you're gonna do it I think you should go all out with it and make it look deliberate. In particular, the shot of the gt3000 and the fiat really annoyed me with this. The background is almost in focus, but not quite. Maybe my eyes are just getting bad or something, but I find pictures like this extremely hard to look at.

then there's the pics that have only partial focus on the car, or where nothing in the shot is focussed at all....
pics like the snowy nsx, the grey R34, or the red&blue Nissan. The snowy NSX is guilty of only a slight smudge on the background too. I probably would have picked that shot in the poll if it were better focussed, but the back half of the car is blurred.

either increase the shutter speed to make it all sharp, or be deliberate about it and blur it a lot to give the sensation of speed. If you're gonna set the focus on the car, make sure it is all in focus. If you set the focus on the surroundings, make sure the field depth is great enough that the background appears sharp.
this is all personal opinion, but I think it makes for a much more professional looking shot.

on a different train of thought, but still related to a couple of the pics chosen here:
increase the brightness so we can actually see your car's position relative to its surroundings.
The contrast in the pic of the blue R34 is poor. The one with the black FC isn't horrible, but it could be a bit better. The shot of the beemer is extremely eye catching, but I can't even see if it's drifting.

that concludes my little rant. No hard feelings towards those I may have stomped on, just some constructive criticism.

lol i tried to blur it, but it has a top speed of 80 mph, so it's not easy (and that drift was around 45 mph, it's just a slow car)
I'm not offended in anyway, if i could blur it more i would, it's just the car has limits lol

Thanks for the semi-compliment. I think I made mention of the darkness when I posted it, and although I still like it, it was so much better on the TV. For that shot and the HM of the same drift, I used the B&W filter, white balance set fully to blue and an exposure 3-4 settings brighter than the default. I don't normally go that high (on exposure), but having it B&W plus putting it on PC required more brightness, and I thought that would've been enough. I was so stoked when I took them that I ended my shooting session then & there, wish I hadda saved the replay before turning it off so I could've made an attempt at fixing the brightness.

that shot is my new dektop wallpaper, temporarily. The colours went well with my winamp, trillian, and windows themes.

I know the feeling! i have done this many a time and its soooo annoying. Lately i have been getting the angle, WB balence right and then taking the photo about 3 or 4 times in different exposures to make sure that it comes out ok on the oc

Its not to bad if 5 do win, i will just hold another "SUDDEN DEATH" (dramatic huh ) round. I wil put all the winners into a new poll and people can vote for it over three days. If there is still a tie i will decide which i think is the best or the winners can all agree on a theme/requirements together
