Rules
Overview
* Race will be the Fuji 1000 kilometers (228 laps) under Endurance Evens in Gran Turismo mode.

Technical/Sporting Rules
* The car must remain stock as won/purchased. Chassis stiffening, chassis refreshes and oil changes are allowed.
* LMP1 entries must add 25 kilograms of ballast to the carÂ’s weight. (2006 LMP1 cars are running at 925 kg.)
* Stability management (ASM) must be set at 0. Traction control (TCS) may be set at 1, at the driverÂ’s discretion, but may not be set any higher.
* Suspension, aerodynamic and gear settings may be changed at the driverÂ’s discretion.
* Only R1 (super-hard), R2 (hard) and R3 (medium) compound tires are allowed during the qualifying and race. R4 (soft) and R5 (super-soft) compound tires may not be used.
* Standard on-line racing rules apply. Drivers must keep at least two wheels on the track/kerbs at all times (no wall-riding, grass/track cutting, etc.). Avoid unnecessary contact with the slower AI cars. NOTE: If you miss the chicane, you must come to a complete stop before continuing, in order to negate any advantage from cutting the chicane.

Race Procedure
* Drivers are allowed unlimited practice, but may only complete the race once.
* A minimum of one hour of the race must be done in B-spec mode. (This is to simulate a real endurance race where you hand over to a co-driver.)
* All race times are due by 2359 hrs. / 11:59 P.M. U.S. Eastern Time Sunday, May 14.
* Drivers must PM:
- car/carÂ’s HP and weight/tire compound used
- race time at the end of laps, 1, 57, 114, 171 and 228
- fastest race lap
- pit stops (for the race write-up)
- B-spec information: lap and race time B-spec began and ended hour stint
A small race report (spins, contact, etc.) is also requested.
Results will be posted Monday, May 15, with a race report to follow.

Prize: 750,000 cr. and 1992 Nissan R92CP (743,000 cr.)

Good luck to everyone. :)

:sly: Whew, glad this race is over. Almost 5 hours of grooling racing on a "boring" track. Still had fun and b-spec billy had a good showing too w/ only a couple off's early on in his stints.
Fast lap 1'10.046 - billy's was a 1'17.039
Ran very consistant 1'10.5xx 1'11.3xx times.

Well, at least I have a nice target to aim for with my tyre testing ;)

Could you tell me how often you were pitting, just to make certain I can match you? :p

I'm still testing... :dopey:

So two times submitted so far. I guess you guys are going to do the race this weekend? That's my plan (in between work and the ALMS/LMS/Indy pole qualifying and all the other racing going on). :D

My race is scheduled to start at 1000hrs, it's now 0935. The atmosphere is tense here :p

Thanks! It's done... I managed to do it in my target time :)
And there was no mechanical failures, the race went fairly smoothly, I'll have to edit some incidents when I write my comments, though - there's no chance I'd have survived a couple of them!

Race info PM'ed. Its was a work out. I had the power go out on me one time and I was over 2 hours in.

Thanks Mulsanne

Thanks everyone. Unless a few more are finishing up in the next 30 minutes or so, we've got five drivers sending in a time.

Just doing a quick review of the times (results posted tomorrow morning), we had three different leaders during the race, with times fluctuating with the varied strategies of using the B-spec driver. Personally, I can't wait to dig in and do the race report. :)

Again, a big thank you to everyone who sent in a time. 👍 👍

All right everyone. Race results are posted at the top. Please let me know if I've screwed up anything, as math was never my best subject. :D The number of laps down was based on an average lap time of 1'10, so if you were 2'20 behind, you ended up 2 laps down, 3'30 behind = 3 laps down and so on.

I can't say this enough, but thank you to everyone who participated. You are all really top-class people and I couldn't have asked for a better group of racers. 👍 👍

Congratulations to stidriver and the Zytek for a great come-from-behind but dominating win (trust me, when you read the race report, you'll see what I mean).

I'll have the Race Report posted ASAP. Give me a couple of days on it, since you guys did an excellent job of providing information for me to use in the report.

Now on to Le Mans!

Yeah, the gaps look pretty large, but there's an explanation. For example, say you're an average of 1 second slower per lap than the guy in front of you. Since the race is 228 laps, at the end, you would be 228 seconds behind. That works out to 3 minutes, 48 seconds or, more than three laps. So the little differences in lap times (and little mistakes) really add up over the course of an endurance race.

:) Cool, took second. Wasn't sure just how fast i was going to be. Alot of time between drivers. 4'30 seconds from first to second, Time there Stidriver, must of been a "very" fast race :scared: w/ no off's cause i only had a few. Figured there prob. was 2 minutes left on the track.
Congrats to the podium finishers

Wahey, a decent showing for me! :dopey:
I'd like to say I was close to the podium, but I really wasn't :p Five minutes is a considerable gap, even with these distances - that's still a sixtieth of the whole race back from Mulsanne :)

(Just a very minor comment, but perhaps the average lap should be 1'11? If we can average 1'10 dead, I think we're well onto better times than these :p If you count pitstops, it might even be closer to 1'12... Just a thought :))

Brilliant fun racing with you guys, and as Mulsanne says, you're all top-class racers

Can't wait for the race report! :D

DE

Yeah, you're right. I'll re-do the times/laps for a 1'11 (or maybe a 1'12...haven't decided) averge lap. Let's see if that changes any of the standings.

Working on it now. I had one almost done, but it read like something Ben Stein would be the voice for. "Lap xx this happened...lap xx this happened...Bueller...Bueller..." :D So I decided to do a re-write, which should be finished today.

And you still haven't had my full incident report yet :O I'll get that to you within the hour, sorry! :guilty:

Thanks! Good read, BTW.

(Taking a break from writing the Race Report)
Just wanted to ask you all: If we were to do this again, say for a ALMS-themed Infineon 2:45 or a LMS Suzuka 1000 kms. later this year, what changes/recommendations would you make in order to make it more competitive, more fun, more interesting for everyone? What rules would you add/change/delete?

A couple of changes I know I will make is allowing only R1 and R2 tires (keeps the endurance racing "spirit") and changing the part that says two wheels have to be on the circuit at all times to all four wheels on the circuit/kerbing at all times (not that I think anyone took advantage of that, just that it makes sense to mandate that all four be on the tarmac).

So what would you recommend to make the experience better for everyone?

Any feedback is much appreciated.

(Okay, back to the Race Report...) :)

Thanks :) I imagine you'll have to cut that down a bit, I got carried away :dopey:

Recommendations and improvements? Well, aside from switching to R1 and R2 compounds only, nothing really - the race went like clockwork, and I couldn't see any need for any particular rule throughout. Regarding the change to the sporting rules, all four wheels on the track/rumble strips is pretty much what I was doing unless I'd misjudged, as having only two wheels on the tarmac is not very secure in an LMP1-class car :boggled: but when I did have two wheels off I didn't always report it, so maybe that change would mean that every time a car left the circuit at all, it'd be noted. Might help a bit in the Race Report.

One thought about moving to R1 and R2s only, that would bring an issue with qualifying - we would either have to use race tyres for qualification, or tyres that we weren't strictly supposed to have, d'you see what I mean?

Will the race report be available for all to view?? Gotta say I'm pretty interested to find out how it went...
