Series no longer running. Thread closed.

This series will consist of six races, one race each week. The car and track will be chosen by me each week with the new race details being posted on Saturday afternoon with final times posted to me by 15:00 hrs the following Saturday. (All times quoted by me are GMT)

The races will be two or three laps in length (depending on the circuit), so each race should take no more than about ten minutes, I've decided on this as many of us will be racing other series' alongside this one and as I'd like to run this as a short championship with points awarded for the top six finishers (assuming we get more than six racers, :nervous:) it's a good idea if you can participate in all the events.

I still haven't had my max drive delivered yet so I'll aim to start the series around the end of June, this should give it plenty of time to show up (hurry up Amazon!!). I would like as many people as possible to have a replay device as a replay will need to be provided by anyone who scores points, anyone who cannot provide a replay within a week of the race deadline will not score points so if you plan on winning it's gonna be important to have one. 👍

Points are awarded as follows;

1st 10
2nd 6
3rd 4
4th 3
5th 2
6th 1

Championship rules;
Standard OLR rules will apply,
All races will be run on normal tyres,
No contact with A.I. (where applicable, not all races will involve A.I.),
No contact with walls or other objects,
Two wheels on track at ALL times,
Rumble strips are part of the track,
Replays MUST be provided for points paying positions.

Thread rules;
Set-up and driving tips may be discussed,
ALL times may be discussed.

If you wish to take part please PM me. 👍
I'm also going to need someone to check NTSC replays for me, I can't do this myself so any help here would be appreciated.

Registered drivers.
SuperT. (Yes I know I'm running it but I don't expect to win any races. :dunce:)
Taffie.
darkblueturbo.
AngelCreator.
SVT@GTBN.
Dave_George.
Slicks.

Edit: Some people are not sure about submission deadline, if this is a problem for too many of us I could still change it, thoughts please? 👍

And if there are a reasonable number of drivers (I'm aiming for at least ten) I could always move the start date forward a few weeks.

Darren

I like the idea:tup:, but the end of june is a long time to wait. I have PM you too.

OK, I thought I'd welcome our first registered drivers,

Taffie, darkblueturbo, AngelCreator and SVT@GTBN.

Good luck guys.

I should have warm up race ready by the end of this week. 👍

Thanks, SuperT - can't wait... Are you going to give us a teaser as to what cars and tracks you have lined up, or do we have to just wait and see as the weeks go by? :)

I did post a provisional list of cars in the original INTEREST CHECK thread but I've been doing a bit of research over the weekend and these might change slightly as the series runs it's course, I'll be running a different car/track combo each week like the WRS.

I should be able to post a warm up race tonight, need to get a couple of hours work in on my real car first, (damn mini's have always got something wrong with 'em!)

Back soon,

Darren.

Right, warm up race time. Here's just a taster of things to come.

The track,

GT Mode/Original circuits/Trial Mountain/Free Run

The car,

BMW 2002 Turbo '73

No modifications other than port and polish, engine balancing and stage three weight reduction. (I decided on these mods as these cannot be taken off if you've already fitted them.)
Tyres up to sports soft are allowed. NO racing tyres.
Oil change permitted
NO wings

The car should show up in your garage with 191BHP and weigh 950kg.

This car choice has a bit more power than I intended to use for this series but I couldn't resist, it's probably one of the more iconic classics on GT4, IMO.

Feel free to post up your splits and total lap times, even replays as this is only a practice.

Hope this keeps you going till the real racing starts.

Darren.

Great idea Super T, count me in.

Unfortunatly I will be in Mexico on my honeymoon from the 20th of June for a couple of weeks, so may miss some rounds.

Would love to take part in the rest though.

cheers

David

Ok had a few laps in the 2002 this morning, quickly became apparent that its a long time since i drove trial mountain!

best time after 10 laps was 1'44.023

SuperT I think with this much power s3 tyres might be bit too grippy? Would certainly be more fun on N3/S1.

Entertaining nevertheless!

regards

David

Glad you liked it. 👍

I realised the same thing during a quick session last night, don't worry, when the season proper starts it'll get a lot more interesting. :sly:

First session times;

1'47.749.

1.48.313 with a standard car on Sports Medium's. I kept the car standard as I've never driven it before. It's a lot of fun isn't it!!! :-)
Good choice of circuit too...!!

I'll do the allowable mods and give it another go....

1:45.025 with the mods and soft sports tyres.

I was just on a fast lap, 0.9 ahead on the ghost and I messed up the entry to the final chicane, where I know I can make up a lot of time over my lap, and hit the wall HARD.
Safe to say if that was real I'd probably be dead. DOH!

I'll give it another spin later...

Hehehe..... This car is very tossable.
It seems as if I got into 'the zone'. 1:44.667, with second stage weight reduction, and all other allowed mods.

While on the subject, does anyone know where I can get another copy of this car? I really want a white one.

I'm very, very sorry guys, I was quite excited at the prospect of running my first ever race series but due to a very unexpected death in my family recently I'm not going to have the time to dedicate to running a race series.

I hope you won't think bad of me for setting this up and letting you all down at the last minute but if anyone would like to take over the running of this championship plaese PM or MSN me and I'll give you all the tracks/cars etc I was planning to use if you like.

:guilty:

Darren.

if you guys are still interested in joining a comp, look at the link on my signature, Its a completely open comp, and all are welcome, you can drive almost anything you feel like.

BUT TAKE A LOOK

My apologies, SuperT, for your loss. Family will always be more important than a race series.
