I am unable to reply to this thread: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=82446

When I click "Post Quick Reply," it does not post. I've tried this with Safari and Camino on OS X, as well as Firefox on XP. Same result in each browser.

I have also tried "Go Advanced," and when I click on "Preview Post," it leads me to the GTPlanet homepage (not the forum home).

This is only happening in this thread, because I was able to post a reply to another thread in between attempts to post in the certain thread. I hope I haven't been triple or quadruple posting in that thread without me knowing it:nervous:

Edit: The strange problem continues... Since I could not post in Chris' thread, I decided to PM him my suggestion for his problem. I clicked "Submit Message" and it led me to the GTPlanet homepage once again.

Maybe there is something in my reply that is throwing things off? I didn't insert any pictures or special characters so I'm not sure of what the problem is.

Maybe try posting your reply here and see if it happens?

As for the post quick reply problem, that's a glitch with the new Vbulletin software, just be patient, only click the post reply button once if you want one post. If you wait for more than 30 seconds, go ahead and refresh the page.

It's not only with "Post Quick Reply." It happened with PM, as well as the "Go Advanced" option.

Here is a screenshot of the text in case it helps:

That's weird. I can't post that exact piece of text either!

I think it may be caused by some improperly closed tags in the HTML. For example, I often get these kinds of problems in Safari when trying to view GTP:

My suspicion is that this is causing the browser to incorrectly read the input element when you try to send something. Possibly.

This has happened to me once before, when I tried to quick reply it wouldn't work and when I tried to advance reply it took me to the homepage.

I noted if I shortened my post in quick reply it posted normally, then I would edit to add the rest of the post in. Hasn't happened to me since (this was about 3-4 months ago.

Did this issue happen to you suddenly? Nothing has changed recently with the code of the site... Have you recently installed any new plugins or software for Firefox?

Yes, this is the first time it has happened. No new extensions in Firefox, and I have the same issue with two other browsers (Safari and Camino).

Hmmm, I'm sorry but I really seem to be drawing blanks here as I can't find anything wrong. If there really was some imporperly closed tags it looks like it would be affecting everyone with the browsers and not just one person. It's not an old version of FF, is it?

I've used:
Firefox 1.5.0.4
Safari 2.0.3
Camino 1.0.2

All the latest versions I think.

Since daan can't post the same exact text either (my screenshot), I'm starting to believe that it has something to do with the text, and not the thread itself. I've tried posting the text here and it didn't work. I even tried to edit one of my posts with that text and it took me to the homepage.

I hope that helps.

Well, I just tried it with the same results, so it must be the text.

I'm on OS X too, and about 1/15th of the pages here load jumbled. I just refresh and it's fine. It might be because I scroll down before it's completely loaded.

Well, that wouldn't make much sense as there does not appear to be anything unusual about that text, but you never know. I'm sorry that I can't be of more help but I don't really know what to do or tell you at this point.

Wow, that's an incredibly strange problem. I can't post the offending text either, I even tried substituting characters to try to rule them out but still nothing. As Jordan says, none of the characters are out of the ordinary, so perhaps it's the message length that's causing the problem. There are 210 characters in the post dougie has tried to post, so I've just tried to post a message containing 210 characters (210 times the letter 'a') and it successfully went through, so it isn't just the message length that's causing the problem.

I've managed to single it out a bit. When you type in 'prefetch' and 'feature' next to each other with a space in between, it brings you to the homepage. Although that may not be the only problem.

* Original post that wouldn't work:

* I have changed a few words and now it works:

You mention that this only happens right after startup or returning from standby. Maybe it has something to do with Windows' vacuum cleaner. Try turning off lights and note any speed/performance differences.

Thanks MINICOOPER120 and amp88 for your help!

I tried making a post that had nothing but the words (vacuum cleaner) and (lights), so the word (vacuum/lights) seems to be the issue.

From now on, whenever you want to refer to the vacuum cleaner, just type it in leet, as so: "pr3f3tch f34tur3." ;)

prefetch

edit: hmm i try adding feature and my ISP stops responding and internet explorer freezes

I just had this exact same problem. I found out that if I posted a hyperlink it would send me to the home page. So I just didnt post the hyperlink and I was able to reply. 👍 First time that ever happened to me. Hmm it only does this with a specific hyperlink. I tried linking to the bungie site and it happened to me. Very strange. :dunce:

Just had this happen to me again, the word 'fetch' caused it.
