Ferrari abgefackelt

Auf der A4 bei Dresden ist ein Ferrari in Flammen aufgegangen.

Laut Polizei hatte der Ferrari GTB Fiorano vermutlich wegen eines technischen Defekts am Montagnachmittag zwischen den Anschlussstellen Dresden-Hellerau und Dresden-Flughafen Feuer gefangen und war und völlig ausgebrannt. Es soll sich um ein werksneues Fahrzeug gehandelt haben. Der Fahrer kommt mit dem Schrecken davon, wegen der Lösch- und Bergungsarbeiten bildet sich ein kilometerlanger Stau. Der Schaden, mehr als 250.000 Euro.

Ferrari torched

On the A4 at/near Dresden a Ferrari went up in flames.

According to police, the Ferrari GTB Fiorano probably caught fire due to a technical defect on Monday afternoon between the Dresden-Hellerau und Dresden-Flughafen interchanges and was completely burned. It should have handled itself as a brand-new vehicle (not sure on that sentence -Wolfe). The driver came away with a fright, because taking the vehicle off of the roadway and to the junkyard caused a kilometer-long traffic jam. The damage was worth more than 250,000 Euro.

My translation's a bit rough, but you get the idea.

You can see it wasn't a crash, since the door is completely intact - still, if my brand new Ferrari went up in flames like that, I'd imagine that I'd be slightly vexed and would probably have to write a strongly worded letter to Maranello....

And about the intake manifold: I guess it just melted from the fire. If I'm not mistaken, it's made of aluminium, which has a fairly low melting point.

eh what? you're saying that cases of cars going up in flames happen only in germany?

maybe its all the high speed driving on the autobahn...but i guess it happens everywhere...
lamboghinis are notorious for going up in flames everywhere around the world.

I can see that's a very bad crash, and a very lovely car has been totalled, but just check out the size of that front rotor. Holy Christmas, that thing is enormous! 👍
