Is it just me, or are the prize cars in the early phases just there to pad your bank account?

I mean, for nearly all of the series, you need to already own whatever it is that you're going to win. It would be nice if the prize cars were mostly something eligible for different series, which would allow you to move forward like stepping stones.

So far the only way that's worked out is the Beginner Turbo Cup gave me the tiny Dihatsu, which I used to win the Lightweight cup. But of course the prize was a Mini... which is useless since I already have a built FF car!

Also, I'll have to buy a TT to run the Tourist Trophy and win... another TT. Kinda annoying IMHO. I'd rather have the opportunity to USE a lot of different cars, rather than just selling them right away to continue my buildup.

Any thoughts?

Yeah same as that mate.

I sat down and tried to work out the minimum number of buys you had to make to complete the beginer level....

Hints (in case you hadn't worked it out)

A Yaris (Vitz??) will turbo meaning you can buy one car that will enter multiple series. Also the Yaris series pays out relatively big in it's own series.

The Honda NSX will wipe the floor with just about everything in the 'R' challenge. I don't know if it's a bug but the prize car nets you 75k on top of the series bonus.

And a win in a CLK (easy) will get you a Kompressor which will clean up in the rag top series.

Can't remeber how to win a lightweight car but i'm sure it's there....

What it boils down to is I'm going to have to buy a number of new cars, which gets expensive quick. But I don't see any other way to enter the one-marque or specific series like the New Beetle Cup, the Vitz race, the M/B series, and the Stars & Stripes, among others. That's a lot of racing just to earn cash.

It would just be nicer if more of the prize cars served a function other than being sold, since they are only worth pennies to the pound when you sell them ... :(

Yeah that sucks. I had to buy a Clio to race in the clio cup in Pro league. And all you get is a dumb Beetle Cup car. They really should have thought about what prize cars would be given for each race.

I'm not sure but i think the early races just teach newbies (me!) to race.

As i said, Race a Yaris (and if you can stay awake) just keep winning the series until you can affored the Honda NSX than win the series, you get 75K for the prize car way and above what you'll need to buy the silly stuff....

Don't buy the cheap beetle (2 ltr) it's gutless and can't hold it's own in Seattle you'll waste a fortune tuning the damn thing

There's a link here somewhere that will tell you what car you get for winning a series.

I'll see if i can find it. Hang on

Even if you don't like the prize car you get I prefer to keep it if it can't be bought at the dealership. Especially if it's a special color.

Slip2, thanks for the link. I'll check it out.

Speedy, I'm sure that a bunch of the prize cars are not worth the trouble in themselves, but if you hope to 100% the game someday, you have to run all the series...

I guess, armed with the prize list, I can try to be careful about my running order.

Oh, well, it's still almost as much fun as the real thing, and way cheaper :D

Well in the begginer things u do usually win what u raced win. But as u progress u will see u win awesome cars like the CLK DTM, R390, GT1, 787B

Yeah I know, I'm at 95% and I have be disappointed a few times when I found out I won a crappy car. But all I have left is a few endurance races and the Polyphony cup.

Someone did some research on this a while back and discovered that one can attain 100% while only having to buy 2 cars. I believe those 2 cars were the Mercedes SLK and the Tuscan Speed 6. Of course, you would have to complete some of the more difficult tasks, such as the Time Trials and all golds on all license tests to get valuable cars for use in the races.

Troy,

You can win an Audi TT on the Amateur American Championship. It's on the left hand side (the 9 o'clock positition) on the little "prize wheel".
