Introduction
Ok, so I've had this game a few weeks now, I have a pretty good feel of the game, enough to make a review of it so far (I'm 93% through).
The Storyline May contain spolilers.
Most Wanted has more of a storyline than previous Need For Speed games, you own a BMW M3 GTR, which is pretty fast, and looks very cool. You participate in three races in the M3, all of which must be won. You then come up against a guy called Razor in a Pink Slip race, he tampers with your car, and you have to pull out of the race, giving him your M3. Using the money from the previous three races, you buy a starting car, and work your way up the Blacklist, until you meet Razor again. You do ths by winning races and getting 'Bounty', which is what you get for long police chases. To meet Razor, you need to work your way up the 'Balcklist', these guys are the 15 most skilled drivers around, to challenge each one, you must get a certain amount of Bounty and win a certain amount of races.
The Cars
Unlike Need For Speed Underground 2, which only had high performence sports cars, Most Wanted contains more supercars and lower class cars ranging from Fiat Puntos to Aston Martin DB9s. They all have their own characteristics, although most have pretty bad handling stock.
The Body Mods
I was extremelly let down at this, I was expecting 'in-depth' modifications like Underground 2, but you can only add Bodykits, Roof Scoops, Hoods and Rims to your car, which is way less than on Underground 2. The Visual Modifications (Paint etc.) is still good, many paint colours, decals, and now even side car numbers to choose from.
The Engine Mods
This is exactly like Underground 2, there are 2 or 3 stages, Pro, Ultimate etc. and you unlock them in stages, each getting more expensive but at the same time giving your car better handling and more power.
Police
Yep, they're here, one of the main points in Most Wanted is Police Pursuits, since to get bounty, you need to evade long pursuits, you come against many diffrent Police Car and Trucks to slow you down and get you busted. There are also Choppers and Spike Stips to add to the force. The pursuits can be very fun, depending on your car and game level, but after some time, these do get boring, as you need to do many, many pursuits to get enought Bounty.
Races
Like in Underground 2, there are Sprints, Drag Races, Circuit Race etc. But there are two new modes of racing that are very cool. Speedtrap, which involves driving past Speed Cameras as fast as you can, and Tollgate, which involves driving in between tollgates in the time given. These modes are both great, and they add on to the other fun races which were in past Need For Speed games.
Outside Career
Most Wanted still has the famous 'Car Modder', where you can modify cars outside Career Mode and race them in arcade races, there's also a challenge mode which includes over 60 diffrent challenges involving Police, Tollgates, Circuits etc.
Overall
What I like - The Undercover Police Pontiac GTO's, they look cool, and are fast, I tried to re-create one in career mode.
Challenge Mode, many fun challenges which you can do anytime.
Speedtrap Races, great fun, also a good challenge now and then.
Blacklist #15's car, I won't say anymore incase you haven't reached him yet (even if he's the first guy
), great colours and a nice bodykit.
What I Don't Like
Getting Busted With Lots Of Bounty, it's so annoying, may make you not play Most Wanted for awhile.
Drag Races, Your car hardly turns, and when it turns automaticly you always hit traffic.
The Same Thing, having to get millions of bounty between Blacklist Racers.
Body Mods, So 'out depth', hardly anything compared to Underground 2.
Should You Buy?
Yes, where it's good, it's brilliant, but where it's bad, it's not good at all, but luckily there are only a few bad spots in the game.
Need For Speed Most Wanted - 8/10.
