-> This was just released from Japan, and this is what JDM people calls it "the real Type-R". I know, I know its a sedan, but I've seen some videos that this particular car out cornered the DC5 Integra (the last FF JDM Type-R).

-> I'll post more pics later on. (:

Big fan of the exterior, but I'm still waiting for the interior to grow on me.

It took me a while to click with the front of the latest Civic. This newer JDM-spec model looks much better. It looks very racy. Almost like I want to take it to the track. If I were in Japan and had a license, I'd likely take this thing out to any track ranging from Tsukuba to Suzuka's full course. You ask me for approval? I give this car about 78% approval.

^ Not just a plain 'ol body kit, if you notice that the car has a wider track. Hence the car has fender flaires front and back.

^ I wonder how this Civic would fare against the best new Civics around the world.

1. Euro Civic Type-R = As what the Stig and Car Magazine implies as the best hot-hatch in Europe.

2. US Civic Si = Many enthusiasts calls it the best FWD in North America, and also the 2006 Car of the Year.

3. Asian Civic 2.0S/Canada's Acura CSX = These FA bodies are not available in the US, and definitely a lot faster than the US-spec EX Sedan.

Here's what I want.

Take JDM Type R Sedan.
Install Parts under U.S. Si Coupe
Install CSX facia
Begin producing Integra Type R badges

^^

Step 3, profit?

You forgot Step 2 - ???? :D

I really like the way the CSX looks, don't know if I would buy one over a TSX.

EDIT: Whoah, you guys get a DIRT CHEAP ACURA. Why in the heck would anyone pay 38 grand for a TSX???

I know our currency difference isn't that different....

I wish we got it in the states, I would more then likely have to buy one. That's a really good looking car.

I have to say that the JDM Civic looks better than the American and European counterparts overall, but in terms of the segment in general, I'm not sold on the Si or the Type-R.

...I may be an insane, German-blooded freak, but the GTI and GLI still take the cake in this segment for me...

They look better, perform similarly (ish), and offer more day-to-day comfort and capability than the Hondas. At least for me, the comfort levels are important, as I spend quite a few hours behind the wheel a week. Sure, its fun to have a racer, but when you're driving on the Michigan road system, you likely aren't going to want to stick to it for too long...

I'm not sold on the underpinnings in general.

I've finally got the Evo issue where they rip the Type R to shreds, and I'm finally getting what they're saying. It's an opinion of the current K20 Civic that one of the local journalists shares... it's that vague, bobbly nose and that unwilling rear-end (I was surprised at how the rear reacted to hard cornering, considering the local one is multi-link and not torsion beam) that ruin what should be a great car.

I've got a chance at test-driving an American Si later this year, so I'll know for sure whether I absolutely hate the new Civic or can offer it grudging respect.

But if they can iron all these things out with the JDM Type R sedan, I'm sold. The chassis is excellent... it's just the fiddly bits that are a bit, errh... fiddly.

One thing... I don't notice anyone in the US saying this, but the Japanese version's seats? They're like having a 2x4 poking into your back every time you try to sidle in. No one else really believes me about it, but my cousin finally noticed this on a two hour road trip on the highway. His opinion of the car, understandably, has dropped through the floor...

Agreed the GTI is superior to the Civic Si, I drove both of them about a year ago and I feel in love with both of them but I thought the GTI was nicer inside and just felt better. Plus it had those flappy paddles on it and plaid seats. If I ever get around to buying a new car the GTI is close to the top of my list.

^ I love those shots!!

-> The Mugen JDM Type-R kit looks a bit overdone, but if they're all functional, I won't complain.

-> Now the Dominator Concept has a new ally:

-> The Mugen USDM Si looks a lot plainer in comparison:

mugen civic Type R anyone?

That screams rice to me. Hate it.

The Euro Type-R still is my favorite looking Civic--but I will say this new JDM Type-R saloon car is quite an awsome looking thing...on the outside. I still CANNOT STAND the interior. That interior is cheap looking and feels like a mid-90's GM interior. Sea of gray thin plastic pieces that will no doubt rattle and or break within 75k miles. The US spec SI is hideous for the most part. The "Acura CSX"' looks ok--but I can't get over that Acura emblem on a Civic...its just so wrong.

My approval rating of the new JDM Type-R Civic saloon car is: 65%. It loses 35% for having a terrible interior.

Woah, who came up on the idea to create a car that ugly :yuck:

Seriously, the front headlights are far too far from each other, might as well place them on the side of the car

To keep it short, this car looks like an EVO which fits in the Questionnable Modifications thread 👎:yuck:
