Day 1. Saturday. (Part 1)

And so it came to pass, finally, on the 14th day of the 7th month of the year 2007, a US based GT Planet LAN was organised and ready to go!!!

dscn1422pg8.jpg

Early morning setup, Smallhorses' station left & juana b.'s setup on right (cunningly delivered the night before!)

In order to get a headstart on things, juana b. was able to deliver his equipment and folding tables the night before, and hence it was assembled and waiting for him the next morning!

dscn1423bh8.jpg

SimRaceDriver arrives, and the assembly marathon begins!

SimRaceDriver called for guidance into the venue and an extremely well packed VW Jetta arrived just seconds later, followed by some hasty unpacking and very neat assembly! juana b. arrives almost simultaneously!

dscn1424ac3.jpg

ceiling_fan's legendary pink chair, a marvel of modern mechanical engineering completes the setup!

With the arrival of ceiling_fan the day's participants are all present.
A brief presentation takes place while all the inaugural attendees receive a coveted and personalised SFTGP1 t-shirt, with SFGTP1 logo backprint, and a GTP logo & Username / Avatar on the front!
Once the equipment is all connected & powered up, with baited breath we indulged in the mysteries of LAN connection!

dscn1425sb7.jpg

juana b. & ceiling_fan observe the "Waiting For Connection" screens in anticipation! Josh having take my "fingers crossed" statement absolutely literally!

Lo & behold, it actually worked 1st time! Having cloned 3 mem-cards with the savegame prepared the night before, some jiggerring with the individual player IDs and connection IDs and we had an almost perfectly on-schedule 4-way LAN connection going!
thumbsup.gif
And then we didn't again!
ouch.gif

I forget quite why we backed out and reset things, may have been to do with monitor settings or something, but it then took another 1/2 hour of connection attempts, cursing, voodoo chanting and 3 kinds of engineering skills to figure out what was going on! Finally, at just gone 11am SFGTP1 roared to life with the first race in the first event of the day!
biggrin.gif

dscn1426lm3.jpg

And then there was racing!!! L to R: Smallhorses, juana b., ceiling_fan & SimRaceDriver.

Series 1. American All-Stars Handicap.

Being the first US based GT Planet LAN that was going to get it's own results & photos thread, I thought we'd pay homage to the US location and run a US only event. For those of you unfamiliar with the Handicap style of racing, here's what goes on. All drivers start in the same car. The winner of the first race drops down to a slightly less powerful model (and in this case since there were only 4 of us, no-one has to sit off) and we all race again. The winner drops down to a less powerful car, etc., etc. The upshot of which is that it becomes progressively harder for a winner to win again, and slower drivers are given the opportunity to progress. The overall winner would be the first driver to take the chequered flag in the last car of the group.
smile.gif

dscn1427py1.jpg

Complete with driving gloves & slippers, Ray's cockpit sends him into an early lead!

In this case, following some meticulous testing, I'd been able to come up with a set of 10 US production cars which were roughly separated by about 2s each per lap between each step down the list. We run 6 lap races, and since these are road cars, we run them on Sport Medium Tyres.

Race 1: Aptly enough Famine's random track generator throws out New York as a venue, and so 4 drivers take to the Big Apple's streets with a cacophonous roar of V8 muscle, and 4 Ford GTs line up to wait for the green light. SimRaceDriver, given his lowly WRS Div 3. status, starts from pole, and we never see him again!!! Humph!
grumpy.gif
lol.gif

dscn1428zd6.jpg

juana b. negotiates one of New York's tight left turns in arms-crossed fashion. ceiling_fan shows off the SFGTP1 t-shirt backprint!

juana b. leads home the chasing pack as Smallhorses & ceiling_fan bring their GTs home in 3rd and 4th.

dscn1429iy4.jpg

juana b. holds 2nd place in the Ford GT '02, and sets about challenging SimRaceDriver's lead.

The win for Ray drops him down to the next vehicle, the powerful but heavier Dodge Viper SRT/10, and we head off to Yosemite.

dscn1430df1.jpg

After Race 2 round El Capitan Reverse, there's rumblings of pedals shifting from Ray, and the cockpit is re-orientated against the wall. We all know that he just didn't want to see us!!!
wink.gif

Race 2: El Capitan Reverse

A maiden victory for Nick drops him to the Viper too, as he holds off Josh in 2nd place. Ray brings the Viper home 3rd, while David is finding his Ford GT-legs. (or should that be thumbs as a DS2er?!!!

)

Josh & David are content to watch the race replay while the moving occurs!

A slight hiatus while some equipment shifting goes on gives everyone chance to have a pitstop and beverage break. Josh deciding that being as it's approaching noon, a Dos Equis is in order!

dscn1432qx2.jpg

Smallhorses explains the marvels of sticky tape!

And so on with the racing.....

Race 3: Special Stage Route 5 Reverse

In the darkness of SSR5, the Viper pairing can't keep up with juana b.'s flying Ford GT, his victory ensuring there'll be a triplet of Vipers starting the next race.

2nd Smallhorses SRT/10
3rd SimRaceDriver SRT/10
4th ceiling_fan Ford GT

Race 4: Sarthe I (3 laps)

Ray is once again the first driver to progress to the next car in the pack, the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (C5), after victory at Sarthe I. A Viper 1-2-3 leads home ceiling_fan's Ford GT which he's having a hard time getting the feel for, and Sarthe I's chicanes weren't much help to him.

Race 5: Midfield

We have a race on, and Ray places his Z06 close to the leader, but can't snatch the win from Nick's Viper, so he's joined by another Z06 in the next race.

1st Smallhorses SRT/10
2nd SimRaceDriver Z06
3rd juana b. SRT/10

Race 6: Hong Kong

There are numerous audible groans as the track generator chucks out Hong Kong as the next venue. Nevertheless, we have to race here, and again Ray puts in an admirable performance in his self-confessed dream car, but can't snatch the win from Josh's Viper. A fun moment of the first lap comes as ceiling_fan's leading GT can't seem to decide which way to go at the sharp turn after the very ambulances he'd told us moments before that he always seems to be distracted by, and opts for ploughing into the barrier after making a left at a right turn!
ouch.gif
He recovers to take advantage of Nick's sloppy Chevy handling and comes away with his first podium of the day in the Ford GT.

Race 7: Grand Valley Speedway

Buoyed by his performance last race, David demonstrates his exorcism of the Ford GT demons by demolishing the 3 chasing Chevys at Grand Valley, and securing his first win of the day!
mischievous.gif
He drops down into the Viper for the next race and into some FR fun!

At some point around this time we had a swift lunch break and eagerly resumed racing.....

Race 8: Fuji 90s

Having raced Fuji 2005 at UKGTP events, it was decided here to go for the nineties version instead. Ok, so it's less technical and faster, but at least you can see where you're supposed to be going!
rolleyes.gif
And for us that meant following Ray to another victory, as he again becomes the first driver to get a taste of the next offering!

This time the Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R.

Race 10: Suzuka West

That bend. You know! That bend!
The one that's there before Casio Triangle which is what everyone was expecting! Inevitably there's carnage there for a number of laps until it's finally beaten into us that we have to turn there!!!! Ray makes good use of the fact that he got away first, and brings his red Mustang ahead of Nick's also red Mustang which he's threaded through the pack into 2nd place.

Race 11: Seattle

With SimRaceDriver down into the Pontiac GTO 5.7 Coupe, it's too much of a stretch for him to stay with the front runners, and it's Josh who escapes the Corvette after seizing the win here, although not without some close attention from Nick's Mustang!

Race 12 : Tokyo R246

David's Viper venom has worn off by the time we hit Tokyo, going from Zero to Hero, as he uses the V10 to great effect on this fast circuit, romping home to escape the snake's grasp on him, ahead of a Mustang pairing, and the GTO which Ray is powerless to prevent being left behind here.

With the cockpit moved, pedals secured and the cables taped to the floor, some 19 races later Ray emerges victorious from the Inaugural SFGTP1 event, the American All-Stars Handicap, and collects a prize, beautifully wrapped by itgirlxx!

Race 13: Deep Forest

13 is unlucky for some, and "first race in a new car blues" strike ceiling_fan again as he languishes back in last place with the 'Vette. Meanwhile Smallhorses ensures he'll join SimRaceDriver in the Pontiac for the next race by leading the field home in the still red Mustang

which breaks his 2nd place hoodoo that'd been haunting him for the past 3 races!

Race 14: Infineon Stock Car Circuit

Shock! A red Mustang wins!
lol.gif

Josh's escape from the Mustang comes at the short version of the California circuit some 40 or so miles from the SFGTP venue! Nick sneaks by Ray's GTO in the last couple of laps as he demonstrates with alarming clarity for someone following so close behind how not to take the Stock Car turn!!
scared.gif
David is still vetting the 'Vette at this point, after confessing he's not at all fond of the short Infineon.

Race 15: Cote d'Azur

A GTO triple-header here and Ray once again leads them to the line following 6 twisty laps around the Principality. His reward is another Chevy to drive, but not the Z06 of his dreams this time. It has a Z in it, but it's the Camaro Z28, which ain't nearly as quick as the 'Vette which is keeping David amused!

Race 16: Clubman Stage Route 5

Alliteration time again!
dopey.gif
A pair of Pontiacs are pushed onto the podium by a dastardly duo of drivers, i.e. Nick & Josh! They lead home a Chevy duo of Ray & David on this shortened version of the night-time circuit, and it means that a trio of bowties will form up for the next race.

3rd SimRaceDriver Camaro
4th ceiling_fan Z06

Race 17: Nurburgring (2 laps)

2 laps of "Green Hell" or "Green Heaven" depending on which camp you're in! The circuit somehow seems ideally suited to the ponderous Camaros and they're brought home ahead of the faster cars. All I can say is it's bloody difficult to pass an identical car on a narrow track when it's driven by someone who doesn't make the same dumb mistakes as the AI!!

1st SimRaceDriver Camaro
2nd Smallhorses Camaro
3rd juana b. GTO
4th ceiling_fan Z06

Race 18: High Speed Ring Reverse

Perhaps predictably given the fast nature of this track, ceiling_fan's 'Vette is a runaway winner here, while juana b.'s Pontiac grabs a surefooted second. Ray, who is first into what turns out to be the last car of the series, (Buick GNX) since it's taking longer than expected even with only 4 drivers, capitalises on a foolish mistake by Nick in the Camaro as he slams head-on into the bridge support whilst trying to go around the outside of the Pontiac!!!

2nd juana b. GTO
3rd SimRaceDriver GNX
4th Smallhorses Camaro

Race 19: Trial Mountain

Josh's GTO gains massively through the last couple of laps after getting by Ray's chicane-launched GNX. Unfortunately it's not enough to prevent Nick's Camaro from taking the win and allowing him to step into the Black Buick Beast too! David's (surprisingly
tongue.gif
) red Mustang rounds out the pack.

1st Smallhorses Camaro
2nd juana b. GTO
3rd SimRaceDriver GNX
4th ceiling_fan Mustang

Race 20: Twin Ring Motegi Road Course

While David is trying to tame his Pony car, Josh leads the racers home at the long Motegi circuit, ahead of the Buicks of Ray & Nick who've spent their fair share of time extracting the 4-speed monster from the various gravel pits around the track!

1st juana b. GTO
2nd SimRaceDriver GNX
3rd Smallhorses GNX
4th ceiling_fan Mustang

Race 21: Autumn Ring

And that was it! Ray runs away with the lead in the GNX, and becomes the outright American All-Star Handicap Champion with his win here, while Smallhorses can't get to grips with it, and finishes last!

1st SimRaceDriver GNX
2nd juana b. Camaro
3rd ceiling_fan Mustang
4th Smallhorses GNX

(As mentioned previously the handicap was going to run to 10 cars, with the Dodge SRT4, Chevy SSR and finally the Ford Focus ST170 to round out the series, but it was taking too long to run through, and some tweaking of the handicap format would be used on Day 2. It was decided, in order to give some exposure to the Pick'n'Mix events, to abort the series at Buick GNX level.)

Final Order:
Ford GT Concept '02 : Everyone
Dodge Viper SRT-10 '03 : SimRaceDriver; Smallhorses; juana b.; ceiling_fan
Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (C5) '00 : SimRaceDriver; Smallhorses; juana b.; ceiling_fan

Day 1. Saturday. (Part 2)

Thus we entered the second series of day 1!

Series 2. LM Race Car Pick'n'Mix.

This format is pretty simple. There's 6 cars. There'll be 6 races on randomly selected tracks. You get to use each car just once. You get the picture!
sly.gif

The scoring is done the same way that Famine always does it, 'cos it works!!!
Being as there's only 4 drivers, points go 10, 6, 4, 3.
Also since there's only 4 of us, I don't have to worry about varying driver lineups constantly using....

Here's the choices, 6 very, very closely matched LM edition Race Cars:-

Chevrolet Camaro LM Race Car '01
Ford GT LM Race Car '02
Jaguar XJ220 LM Race Car '01
Mazda RX-7 LM Race Car '01
Mazda RX-8 Concept LM Race Car '01
Nissan 350Z Concept LM Race Car '02

The beauty of this, especially using the random track generator (RTG from now on!) is that no-one knows what's coming next, so picking the right car for the right race can be tricky! These are Race Cars, and so we run on Race Medium Tyres.

Race 1: Opera Paris Reverse

Josh's Camaro gets the early lead, and is ahead into lap 2. Unfortunately that stooopid bump just before the really quick right turn on the back straight catches him out, and leaves him with a strong taste of tyrewall in his mouth, and some recovering to do. He pulls back to 3rd, as Ray & Nick have an almost photo finish, the XJ220 clearly quicker, but unable to get it's bulky self cleanly past the RX-8 on the narrow Paris circuit!

1st SimRaceDriver RX-8 10
2nd Smallhorses XJ220 6
3rd juana b. Camaro 4
4th ceiling_fan RX-7 3

Race 2: Laguna Seca

Can't really remember this race at all, but do recall somehow leading on lap 1 through the Corkscrew and seeing what I thought was a blue RX-7 spinning out behind me, turns out it didn't spin at all, and went on to pass for the overall race win 5 laps later!

1st SimRaceDriver RX-7 10
2nd Smallhorses RX-7 6
3rd juana b. RX-8 4
4th ceiling_fan Ford 3

Race 3: Seoul Reverse

The scene of mayhem & hilarity! The 2 Fords have superior straightline capability, and make it show off the line, leaving ceiling_fan & Smallhorses trailing. However, it's Seoul reverse and no-one can remember where the first bend is!!! One Ford turns in too early, and is promptly followed by a second, then a Camaro & RX-8 follow suit! Bang, Bang, Bang, Bang.
ouch.gif
4 cars impact the armco, way before the actual turn!
dunce.gif
After the dust clears, the Fords still lead the way from the RX-8 and Camaro, but they tangle at the loopy hairpin, and drop back to 3rd & 4th. What looks set to be an easy win for the RX-8 is thrown away by a protracted spin on lap 5, which lets David in the Camaro through into 1st, and Josh's Ford into 2nd. Unfortunately the 1st lap error is repeated at the 1st bend on lap 6, this time totally unintentionally as the brakes grab and slew the car barrier-wards, and by the time he recovers the only points beckoning are those for 4th place,
mad.gif
as Nick sneaks back through to grab 2nd and Ray's recovered Ford makes 3rd.

Race 4: Infineon Sports Car Course

Again, little recall of this race, except that tyre-wear became a real factor for once!
eek.gif
The Camaros were evenly matched & able to draw away from the RX-7, while David wasn't pleased with the XJ220 on what isn't one of his most favoured tracks, almost being passed by the leaders at the end of the race!

1st SimRaceDriver Camaro 10
2nd Smallhorses Camaro 6
3rd juana b. RX-7 4
4th ceiling_fan XJ220 3

Race 5: Sarthe II (3 laps)

More or less a battle for 2nd, as the Ford's pace round the unchicaned Sarthe was untouchable down the straights. Josh comes off best from the XJ220 battle, while the RX-8 more suited to tighter circuits than out-&-out power tracks struggled.

1st Smallhorses Ford 10
2nd juana b. XJ220 6
3rd SimRaceDriver XJ220 4
4th ceiling_fan RX-8 3

Race 6: Suzuka Circuit

Somehow nobody had driven the Nissan yet, and so it's a guaranteed 1-2-3-4 finish for the 350Z! I'll have to rely on the others to fill in details here as I got into that "tunnel-vision" zone! Do remember some impressive descriptions of his driving by juana b. who was sat right next to me during this race though. Will leave it to him to fill in those details too!

Final standings:-

1st SimRaceDriver 44 (3 wins)
2nd Smallhorses 44 (2 wins)
3rd ceiling_fan 26
4th juana b. 24

With SimRaceDriver & Smallhorses tied on points, the series is decided by overall wins, Ray's 3 to Nick's 2 clinching him the title.
biggrin.gif
ceiling_fan rounds out the podium.
smile.gif

And so to the third and final event of the day!!!

Series 3. SFGTP1 Super Coupé Pick'n'Mix.

Same format as previously, but this time using a set of closely matched but varied Super Coupés from around the World. Again as they're road cars, Sport Medium Tyres are the order of the day.

It was suggested that knowing the 6 tracks in advance would allow people to try and match cars to tracks without being stranded with a lemon later on, and give closer racing, so we gave it a shot.
The only drawback to this though is that a set of evenly matched drivers may tend to pick the same car for the same track and we would effectively end up with 6 one-make races, which kind of ruins the spirit of the true Pick'n'Mix event. Viva Randomosity!
biggrin.gif

Thankfully even knowing what was to come, the six rides on offer were sufficiently close in performance (within a second of each other round 3 different test tracks!!
eek.gif
) that fun was more or less guaranteed!

Here's our choices for this one:-

RUF BTR '86
BMW M3 GTR '03
Lotus Esprit V8 '02
Dodge Viper GTS '99
TVR T350C '03
Proto Motors Spirra 4.6 V8 '04

And the tracks announced in advance were:-

1. Tsukuba
2. Grand Valley East Reverse
3. El Capitan
4. Seattle Reverse
5. Deep Forest Reverse
6. Nurburgring (2 laps)

dscn1435ct9.jpg

Uh oh! We're in trouble!
mischievous.gif
Ray prepares to take the RUF BTR through 2 laps of the 'Ring in the Super Coupe Pick'n'Mix!

So off we went!!!

Race 1: Tsukuba

Ray seems to make the right choice here, guiding the heavy German car to victory here, while Josh & David take out the drifty but quick Spirra, and Nick tries to master the understeery Lotus around this tight and short track.

1st SimRaceDriver M3 10
2nd juana b. Spirra 6
3rd Smallhorses Esprit 4
4th ceiling_fan Spirra 3

Race 2: Grand Valley East Reverse

2 races, 2 different winners, 2 different cars. Variation abounds! Smallhorses' Viper leads the pursuing pair of Esprits home while ceiling_fan gets the tricky handling RUF out of the way early on!

1st Smallhorses Viper 10
2nd juana b. Esprit 6
3rd SimRaceDriver Esprit 4
4th ceiling_fan RUF 3

Race 3: El Capitan

3 out of 3, 3 different cars have won first three races, showing the selection is very evenly matched. Ray notches his 2nd win in the TVR, over Nick's RUF. Josh had "that moment" in this race! After following Nick's RUF closely through the 1st lap, he comes a cropper when Nick can't stop the RUF going wider & wider before the 2nd bridge and eventually colliding with the wall. Sadly for Josh, the RUF cannons back into the path of his TVR and they collide, leaving Nick in 4th & Josh in 3rd. David sneaks through into 2nd while they recover. Nick then manages to pass the 2 TVRs ahead of him to go back into 2nd place, and Josh sets about claiming 3rd back.
It's during this pursuit that we hear first the high-pitched electrical squeal of a DFP going from full lock to full lock & secondly David's exclamations!
ceiling_fan
"How the hell did you do that?" On the replay it looked like a smooth, but unintentional drift, but in reality the DFP was all the way to the left, then all the way to the right, all the way to the left again, and then it was shakily stabilized. All of this was in about 3-4 seconds!
Marvellous moment, and exceptional skill, although Josh is vehemently denying this, and claiming to be a lucky bugger instead! :P

1/2 way standings:-

1st SimRaceDriver 24

Race 4: Seattle Reverse

More magical drifting at Seattle, and another car wins a race, this time Ray's Spirra fights off a very very close challenge from Nick's TVR.

1st SimRaceDriver Spirra 10
2nd Smallhorses TVR 6
3rd juana b. Viper 4
4th ceiling_fan Esprit 3

Race 5: Deep Forest Reverse

The rhythm is spoiled by Nick at Deep Forest as the M3 claims another race, taking full advantage of 3 cars ahead of him going off near-simultaneously at the right hander after the downhill exiting the tunnel, and somehow threading his way through the wreckage unscathed! Josh guides the RUF into another 2nd position.

1st Smallhorses M310
2nd juana b. RUF 6
3rd SimRaceDriver Viper 4
4th ceiling_fan M3 3

Race 6: Nurburgring (2 laps)

Shock! Ray drives RUF at Nurburgring! The RUF's win here leaves the Esprit as the only car without a victory to it's name, although given another lap it's possible that Nick, who'd escaped Josh & David's attentions, in the Spirra may have caught him, as he was able to gain almost 7 full seconds in clear air on the 2nd lap.

1st SimRaceDriver RUF 10
2nd Smallhorses Spirra 6
3rd juana b. M3 4
4th ceiling_fan Viper 3

Final standings:-

1st SimRaceDriver 48
2nd Smallhorses 42
3rd juana b. 30
4th ceiling_fan 18

Too little too late from Smallhorses who could've snatched overall victory from SimRaceDriver with a win at the Nurb'. In the final count though, it's a six-point undisputed winning margin for Ray, with Nick and Josh making up the podium spots.

dscn1436oz4.jpg

At the end of the day there's prizes for all, and David shows his appreciation of the irony that his randomly selected prize is in fact the original "bane of his American All-Stars Handicap Races" car.....

..... A Ford GT! With screenshot to match!!!

Many thanks to itgirlxx

Also for being a mountain of patience while I spent an awful lot of time testing & preparing the event, and all of this evening writing up results!

Thanks also to Jordan for granting permission to use the GTP logo on the t-shirts, and supplying me with the high-res versions!

Ok folkses! :)

I now declare this thread open to comments, quips and general abuse! 👍
Day 1 results are more or less done, as best I can from memory, except for the Super Coupe race descriptions, which I'll leave until later, since it's now midnight!

Day 2 will have to wait until sometime next week when I've another free evening to waste! :indiff:

Please go ahead and let me know of any mistakes, or critical events in any of the races that I might've missed! :guilty:

Wow, looked like a lot of fun! 👍

I think I like ceiling_fan's shirt the most. ( He looks nothing like I thought either although I don't think anyone has except for maybe a6m5. :dopey: )

One of the funniest things was the 3 Miata 1 Elise Race. All white, and I chose the closest thing to white for the Elise. I have a good reason why I was second to SmallHorses: He owns that car! :dopey: I think my driving skill has immensely improved, now that I've driven with real people. I think my biggest faults were braking too early and non-ideal racing lines. I vow to come with more skillz for the "dos." I had a great time, the only low points were:
• anything at Infineon (I don't know what it is about that track)
• Choosing RX-8 (the 787B painted one) on Le Sarthe. :dunce:

Some of the best things were: (some I mentioned in the other thread)

• Josh's miraculous ability to keep the TVR from spinning out on El Capitan Reverse, quoting myself: "How the hell did you do that?" On the replay it looked like a smooth, but unintentional drift, but in reality the DFP was all the way to the left, then all the way to the right, all the way to the left again, and then it was shakily stabilized. All of this was in about 3-4 seconds.

• Seoul Reverse, as mentioned in the report

• Ray's 'Mr. Consistent' driving. I can count the number of mistakes on one disfigured hand.

• Also Ray's Spirra at Seattle Reverse, on the section before the downhill humps. Smoooooth,

There's many more but those were some of the most enjoyable moments for me.

Well done on the write-up Nick, good stuff 👍

If i ever get any cash together I'll make my way to SFGTPXII or something

I might feel a little embarrased stickin my lowly seat next to Simracedrivers though

:irked:👍

Yeah, I love your seat, Dave. I'm going to pinch it next time...

Great write up, Nick. 👍

Don't worry about day 2 not being posted yet. Its tradition amongst GTP meets that the last day never gets posted....

Runs and hides...

Nick,

AWESOME right up! Couldn't have written it any better if I tried!

I'm definitely looking forward to "SFGTP:dos" come October!

Can't recall much of any races at this point in time....maybe a good idea for the next event is to use a digi-camera that also 'records' videos, and have someone do a quick race-summary after each race. Shouldn't take that long and then once the event is over...and it's time to do the 'write-up'...one could just pull up the 'race-reports', for a lack of better words, and write the commentary from that!...What'cha think?

Ray

!!!! I know, UKGTP VII Day 3 has been a work in progress since May!

SFGTP1 Day 2 will follow at some point in the near-ish future, but we're heading down to Monterey for the weekend with our guests, Dan & Lindsey and their rented Harley-Davidson. We're going in the Miata though since itgirlxx isn't confident enough in handling the 911 yet, especially on some of the twisty roads that we're planning on taking, and I'm planning on trading places with Lindsey on the back of Dan's bike for some of the journey!

Be sure to get some pics with you in some cut-off short-shorts flashing us some man-boob.
Is this in violation of the AUP?

Is this in violation of the AUP?

Apparently not here in the good ol' US of A, land of many a contradictory stance!!
Man boobs & Men's nipples galore! It seems gay porn is fine! :boggled:

It's only womens nipples that cause offence, terrorism, drug abuse, alcoholism and destruction if they're allowed to be seen!!! :sly:

Makes you wonder what's so great about spending most of your first year of life attached to them? ;)

Oh, wait, it's bedtime and this merits investigation. Again! :mischievous:
For the 2000 and somethingth night running!
Oh, it's a hard research project. Amongst other things.....

Wow,great write up there Smallhorses! Makes me wish i was there (but unfortunately living on the other side of the world doesn't help :( ) and it does feel special racing with your GTP members.Hope your next gathering at San Fransisco is just as good or better than this one.Would love to see how you write that report :)

Looks like you guys had some great fun! 👍

I'm planning on visiting one of these meetings in the future but the nearest one is the UKGTP, which is, still quite far from me...

Anyway, Simracedriver has one hell of a seat! Even the racing gloves 👍

@Smallhorses: You got a Porsche?!

Thanks for the kind remark!

As for the 'gloves'...they're just bicycle gloves...Maybe next time I'll do what "Juana B" did and purchase a pair of actual 'driving shoes', and toss my 'house slippers' in the garbage! :D

Well summat (= something in Northern-English English!) weird has gone on with Day 1's results. I edited some race reports in for the Super Coupe Pick'n'Mix earlier, for the first 3 races and hit save changes. Now it looks just as it did, but I can no longer edit the post since there's nothing there!
Try quoting it, and there's nothing there either! :boggled:
Shame 'cos it included a good description of juana b.'s TVR "moment" at El Capitan. :grumpy:

Oh well, I'll come back to it later if it all gets fixed.
Will start work on Day 2 now, things are back to normal, guests are gone and I've got some free time while Rachel watches a chick-flick.
Unbelievably I've only touched GT4 once since SFGTP, which just shows how tied up in other stuff I've been!!!

Day 2's results are in progress! I'm about 2/3rds of the way through the convertible handicap, but hopefully it makes interesting and amusing reading so far! 👍

More to come later on.
Still no idea what's happening as far as editing Day 1 results yet though.
I'm hoping Jordan will have an answer for me soon. 💡

May I request more pics of the hostess?

Hoenstly, ceiling_fan looks mighty scary... may we have an 'Evil vs. Evil' Race one day? I'm betting on our Evil Dave, but still :D

Allow me to rephrase that...

itgirlxx = good
nick (and his killer look) = not (as) good

Will you actually post something relevant to the results and writeup if I put up another picture of itgirlxx?!!!
Is that bribery? I have a good picture of her with a pole!

As a married man -Diego- you've certainly still got an eye for the ladies! ;)
Hands off though, she's mine! :D

*edit* Race results for Day 2's first series are now complete, and the 2 Pick'n'Mixes are in preparation!!! Watch this space. Well, not this one exactly, watch Post #2!!! :P

as my brother in law put it: Just because you're on a diet, doesn't mean you can't look at the menu ;)

I promise I'll post something relevant next time :P

@ daan Are hostesses male in Scotland?

In the rest of the world a host is male, and a hostess female!
What are you saying about me!!!! :P I know I'm in San Francisco area, but that doesn't make me transexual!!! ;)

I was attempting to point out the look Diego would get for requesting photos of your wife.

Oh! OK!
I'm not sure that look is as devastating over 1000's of miles as it would be close up though!!! :P
I was just flattered that he appreciates my good taste! :)

I know I'm in San Francisco area, but that doesn't make me transexual!!! ;)
So, what is it then? :dopey:

Sorry, you were wide open for that one, I couldn't resist.
Oh, and shouldn't you be working?!:guilty:

Calm down boys, this is getting a little out of hand. I'm starting to blush! (Where's the smiley for that by the way?)
