Heathers 360 is just becoming such a POS. Its freezing more times in a day than it even plays. We dont want to pay for the repair so is there a way to make it get the 3 red lights??? That way its covered under the Microsoft warranty. My first 2 were from Circuit City and this 3rd one is directly from Microsoft. This one is very quite and works real well so far.
I am impressed her 360 lived this long. She had hers a year and I am on my 3rd in a year. We take care of them exactly the same. Even cover them with a towel every night to prevent dust. And have a fan blowing on them to keep them cool.

I think there is no way to do this, unless you want to mess with the inside of the console, which means one thing, voided warranty.

A Manufacturing company says its a "design flaw". I know a few poepl who are on their third. I'm still on my first from last June.

I'd say wrap a towel around it and never turn it off, and play something that keeps it under load.

Maybe you should just use a hammer over it and get it over and done with, then again maybe not, because if it keeps messing up like you say the red ring of death could be around the corner real soon.

I am assuming the video or pic above has something to do with youtube because I cant see it. My work blocks anything youtube or myspace related.

Yes, it's the scene from Office Space where they beat the **** out of the copier. :)

Too bad I cant see the video but I know the part for sure. hahah "PC Load Letter??!!! What the heck does that mean???!!!!" That guy was hilarious. In all honesty I really thought my gf was going to do that to her 360 a couple times. Especially when it freezes 10-15 times a day. Very frustrating. Now she just puts her hard drive into my new 360 and plays on that.

Just leave it on constantly, in an extremely un-ventilated area. Maybe have some heaters pointed at it, or blow-dryers. Im sure your girlfriend has one of those.

Last night I just called Microsoft and told them that her 360 had the 3 red lights of death. The coffin for her 360 is on the way and will probably be here by the end of next week. Then we will send it in and see what happens. Would be real nice if they just sent us a new one. The worst thing that will happen is we have to fix the problems that are wrong with it. No big deal but hopefully we get a new one.
I have definetly lost a lot of respect for Microsoft with these lack of quality in these 360 consoles. But the massive variety of great games definetly makes up for it and gives me hope that they will eventualy fix these things and make them a lot more reliable.

Well if you just old them that it has the 3 red lights and it really doesn't they wont fix it. They check all repairs specifically for the 3 red lights. They will either send it back to you or ask you if you want to pay $99 for them to fix the real problem. But if it really has the 3 red lights you have nothing to worry about, they'll fix it free.

OH if its only $99 that would be great. I thought it was more than that. It does freeze up all the time and the tray has problems opening. No red lights yet but it has to be very very close.

It took my friend 10 days to get the coffin in, so if you just turned it on and left it running with poor ventilation until then it may happen for you.

Dang Heathers coffin will be arriving today. That was only about 3-4 business days. So tonight after work we will be shipping her 360 in for repair. Hopefully they at least fix it even though we dont really have the 3 red lights. Just tired of the tray not working and the constant freezing.

Just duct tape up the vents and leave the thing run...it won't last long.

Untill MS workers spot the glue residue around the vents...

I don't know the consumer rights in America, but in the UK a product should be expected to last a reasonable length of time. Of course this all comes down to cost/quality of item bought, but don't be afraid to mention that if they try to charge you.

i dont know if its plausable but another method would be to buy a X360 with the red light problem. Ive actually seen a few red light examples on ebay sell for little more than £20 (about $38). Certainly cheaper than paying $99 for it to be repaired.

Spec....

Yeah if they actually read the threads on this GTP site, they wouldnt have just sent me my 3rd 360. Which is brand new directly from Microsoft. lol
Or wait maybe they are reading it and thats why I finally got a new one. :sly:

We sent her 360 out yesterday in the coffin. Now we will just have to wait and see what they do with it since it doesnt really have 3 red lights. But it does freeze all the time and the tray only opens some of the time. I just at least hope they fix those 2 problems. If they just return it back to us not repaired then I will not be happy but thats really what I expect.

While we wait for it to return we will just buy heather another 360 then return it in 30 days.
