A 14 year old boy from Brevard, North Carolina was nearly killed Sunday while trying to stop his Xbox 360 from overheating.

The boy’s mother told local news that his Xbox 360 kept turning itself off after about 5 minutes. Her son had read online that he could stop it from cutting off by cooling the power supply. “I saw him put the cord on top of a box in the living room”, said the boy’s mother. “When I left to go next door he was playing a game but when I got back he was laying on his back on the floor and unconscious”.

While his mother was away the boy had taken the power supply and wrapped it in plastic and tape. In an attempt to cool it off, he submerged it into a pan of water with the cord still plugged in. The boy had regained consciousness by the time paramedics had arrived. He was taken to the Transylvania Community Hospital in Brevard where he spent the night.

If it's a true story, glad to hear he was OK.

Unfortunately, he also voided Microsoft's limited warranty policy... but it would make for good PR if Microsoft sends him a brand new fully-loaded Elite and a pile of games. 👍

I think he should, not be given an Xbox 360 Elite, because he brought it on himself and he needs to be banned for any consoles for the mean time.

I think he should not be given an Xbox 360 Elite because he's obviously a complete retard. [/opinionated_insult]

Even Bioshock teaches you not to put electronics in water. Maybe he was playing Bioshock and didnt get that far in the game. lol Seriously if your 14 and you dont know to leave electronics away from water, then maybe you shouldnt be left alone in the first place.
DWA's avatar fits this thread perfectly.
Yeah, he should be punished with the Core system.
lmao yeah no kidding, that is punishment.

Oh please, as if none of us got electrocuted...... Well i hope he's alright, he did get some minor burns on his hands and foot. By the way, what forum did he get this idea from? (hmm...i guess it cannot be us can't it?) but to put a live wire into water, who does he think he is, some brainiacs from mad labs? Please, this is REAL LIFE! (yeah, those shows are real as well, but at least their professionals!)

It kinda reminds me of the time i got electrocuted, not because of this but my socket overloaded and well, you should know the rest. But luckily i didn't get any bruises or burns, just got traumatized and have a painful memory.....

Why would you want to give him an Elite? So, he can do the same thing again?

Actually, sounds like a good idea. Yeah, let's give him another! :D

Should have got some of that non-conductive coolant that the smart people use in their PC watercooling systems. ;)

Hey! 💡
