Ooh, Gran Turismo 4! Can you feel the excitement? So can we and as such, today’s news that the game is currently 70% complete comes as slightly worrying.

But fear not, petrol-powered sim fans, as speaking in an interview in this week’s Famitsu, series producer Yamauchi Kazunori said, “The game is a little over 70% complete, we think. The bulk of the technical work involved is complete now, leaving menu finalisation and other polishing to be done.”

So will the game be out in time for Christmas? “We are all confident that we will meet our goal of shipping the game this winter,” assured Kazunori.

It's all good, and we can hardly wait. European gamers travelling to London next week will be able to enjoy a post-E3 build of the game at the PlayStation Experience, housed in bespoke pods furnished with force-feedback wheels, plasma TV's and bucket seats.

It’s worth the entrance fee for this alone!

Other breaking details include Polyphony’s deal-making antics with various motorsports manufacturers, including Scorpion and K&N, to supply licensed components in an all-new parts shop.

We'll bring you everything Gran Turismo as it breaks.
