Just got an update necessary notice for my PS3 and downloading it as of this writing.

Is the nightmare over at last? :dopey: Will we see our loved ones once again in the virtual awesomeness that is the PSN?

PSN ist not online, it's an update for security stuff including a mandatory password change.

@THEPUNISHER: The UAE will get it a bit later for sure, I think you get all the updates later.

Hope it comes with 20.000.000 GT5 money..all this time lost earning online money.

Oh if only, hehe. If it were included, I would prefer that it be attached in one of our lost B-spec drivers in online purgatory. :dopey: Then again, PD don't owe us anything though, but it would still be welcome, hehe.

Oh, well, that's not so bad.

Alas, guess I will settle with this update as being a herald or prologue of the triumphant return of the PSN.

They cant enable PSN with out allowing users the option to change the low level passwords first.
These are the passwords the HOLE fuss was about.
With out this step it would be no different than before the shut down and PS3s would attemp to connect to OLD servers were the old PSN was.
finding Email address and living location was allready stupidly easy.

PS I expect this is actualy earlier than planned and servers wont be able to handle the amount of users that will download. So for once i wont even look till later.

We have been working on a new PS3 system software update that requires all PSN users to change their password once PlayStation Network is restored. The update (v3.61) is mandatory and is available now.
If using a PS3, your password can only be changed on your own PS3 (or a PS3 on which your PSN account was activated), as an added layer of security. If you have never downloaded any content using your account on the system, an email will be sent to the registered sign-in ID (email address) associated with your account when you first attempt to sign-in to PSN. This e-mail will contain a link that will enable you to change your password. In this email, click on the link and follow the instructions to change your password. Once you have changed your password you can sign-in to your account using your new password.
We strongly recommend that all PSN account holders with PS3s update their systems to prepare for when PlayStation Network is back online. The release of this update is a critical step as we work to make PlayStation Network significantly more secure. Thank you for your continued support and patience.
Only people confused are those to lazy to read the sony blog so about 60mill then :)

Anyone else getting to 43/44% and getting an error? Had it twice now :(

At least now, we (the consumers) are now receiving/experiencing the progression towards the re-installment of the PSN and its services.
