Hello everyone,

I am reaching out to the community because I am facing an extremely unusual and serious technical issue that has now affected multiple racing wheels, across several consoles and environments, with significant consequences for my competitive sim racing activities.

For context, I used a Logitech G29 for over three years without any issues on PS3 and PS4.
I completed all Gran Turismo titles, achieved 100% completion, and even earned Diamond medals in the Lewis Hamilton Time Trial DLC in GT Sport. Everything worked flawlessly during that time.

In September 2025, after the clamp on my original G29 broke, I purchased a brand-new G29. Over the next two months, it performed perfectly. I became an A-ranked player in Gran Turismo 7, competed in the Nations Cup Exhibition, and after Round 4, I was ranked Top 81 in North America and approximately Top 8–10 in Canada.

This is where the situation deteriorated.

After attempting to use the G29 again on my PS3 (which had a dead CMOS battery), the wheel initially failed to calibrate. After reconnecting the devices, it calibrated—but from that moment on, the force feedback became extremely weak, stiff, and completely lacked vibration. This issue immediately affected both PS3 and PS4.

Since then, the same problem has occurred with:

  • A replacement G29 sent by Logitech
  • A Logitech Driving Force GT (previously working for 12 years on PS2/PS3)
  • A Thrustmaster T598 Direct Drive (PS5)
  • A Logitech G923, even when connected through a 1000VA UPS on a brand-new PS5

All devices exhibit the same symptoms:
  • Very weak and stiff FFB
  • No vibration
  • No road texture, bumps, or surface feedback
  • Identical behavior across PS2, PS3, PS4, PS5, and PC (Assetto Corsa)

I have:

  • Updated firmware on all wheels
  • Reinstalled and reset Logitech G Hub
  • Factory-reset consoles
  • Rebuilt databases
  • Tested different user accounts
  • Tested wheels at other locations, including a repair technician’s home and a friend’s house.

Despite all of this, the issue persists. Because this problem has now affected every wheel I connect, including brand-new hardware, I am exploring several possible causes:
  • Electrical issues in my home (voltage irregularities, grounding, or static discharge)
  • Console USB port corruption
  • Environmental static caused by a metal racing rig on carpet
  • Software or firmware conflicts following console or game updates
  • Account-level corruption (though unlikely, given cross-account testing)

Due to this situation, I have been unable to race for over three months, missed the remainder of the Nations Cup, and my competitive momentum has been completely halted. This is particularly distressing as I am preparing for karting academy training and aim to qualify for GT World Finals in the coming months.

At this point, I am desperate for insight, guidance, or technical explanations. If anyone has encountered similar cascading FFB failures or can suggest advanced diagnostic steps, your help would mean more than I can express.

Thank you sincerely to anyone who takes the time to read this and offer support.

It's something in your home environment. Either electrical, or someone is messing with your equipment. Could even be sleepwalking as ridiculous as that sounds, and you might be wrecking your equipment in the process without being aware.

You said you've bought multiple wheelbases, is it financially possible to get another G29 or something, and test it offsite first? Then bring it back to your home and see if it succumbs to the issues? Not sure if you've tried testing in that order, since you've stated you have brought these wheels to test elsewhere.

Very bizarre issue and I hope you get this sorted.

This is the critical part for me, what happened when you tried this?

Were you using all your own kit in this location (Your wheel, your console, your cables)?

Have you had an electrician check your supply? Sounds like it might be worth it.

I would also post your wheel settings and what force you generally run in game so we have a complete picture.

I have a couple of other left-field ideas but interested to know about the above first.
