I've been trying out Aces of Thunder in VR and have mixed reviews. I've been waiting 35 years for a VR flying game and boy is this it. In 1995 I was an EA Sports (good Burnaby company) F1 driver and a Falcon 4.0 flyer. The graphics in AoT are just stunning, you can even stand up in the cockpit to get a better view of: "Where is that damn airfield?", but be careful. It has a pretty steep learning curve, as a simulator should have. So far I'm having issues with using the VR2 controllers, my only complaint. There are some bugs to iron out as it's only been on the market since February 3. My solution is to buy a Thrustmaster T.Fight HOTAS 4 joystick, delivery tomorrow. Unavailable in Canada, but I found a store in NJ that ships free to Point Roberts, Wa., Vancouver's US delivery depot. Point Roberts is only accessible by road through Canada.

My turn for the Car-Show.

On February 15, 1965, Canada adopted the Maple Leaf as our National Flag. This replaced the old Canadian Red Ensign that was previously used which contained the Union Jack in the top left corner. The current flag of the Province of Ontario still contains the Union Jack in the top left corner for some reason. I think it's time for Ontario to move away from that also. And don't get me started on how silly it is to have King Charles III on the back of all my coins.

It's likely the flag decision in 1965 was made in Ottawa but I went west to British Columbia (hmm, ahh... forget it) for my Scape location as I give thoughts to the victims of the horrific shooting Tumbler Ridge, BC, yesterday. This kind of stuff doesn't happen up here so it's a pretty shocking tragedy.

My Status for Sunday = Probable

@CANOWORMS1 - I will look into the Aces of Thunder game. As the owner of the PSVR2, I do feel that after GT7, there's a huge drop off in terms of games that interest me. I read that the newest Flight Simulator is scheduled to have PSVR2 support at some point in 2026 via an update. That might be cool.

I was looking for the 'dogfight' aspect to a game, and Aces of Thunder has that, whereas I believe Flight Simulator doesn't. I'm hoping to go to Point Roberts tomorrow to pick up the Thurstmaster joystick. A couple of Snails already have the game @radliffracing @Gurney67 , and one other that I've forgotten, do you have any suggestions about the game? My biggest complaint is the use of the VR2 controllers, using the little joysticks is difficult, grabbing the virtual joystick is problematic, and mapping buttons makes them touch sensitive which means I'm constantly activating them when I don't want to. Other than that it's a great time...or it will be when I learn how to fly and shoot. :D

Superbowl week-end is now behind us, Snail is back this week!

We return with the usual Thursday practice night this evening. Lobby open at 9:15pm EST, first race at 9:30pm, all three combo run twice at 75% (ish) of the Sunday distance with reverse grid.

This week's cars are at the foot of the Athabasca glacier in Jasper National Park. It is the most accessible glacier in North America. Earlier in the century the cars would have been covered in ice, it has retreated that much due to global warming. My wife and I camped in a parking lot across the highway from this view. If you have the chance to drive the Icefields highway between Jasper and Banff, take it, it's one of the most spectacular drives I've ever taken.

My last post re: Aces of Thunder...get it. In VR it is an absolute blast. The Thrustmaster T.Flight joystick has made all the difference. I'm not a master of controllers and the joystick is sooo intuitive and an absolute must. I absolutely love it, and flying around in test flight mode is cool. Now I have to learn how to fly planes in a dogfight. Perfect.
