MARCH 2026 - WEEK 1 STANDINGS

1773144632147.webp

Week 1 of March 2026 is in the books.

Division 1 flirted with a double-digit grid but came up just short. It was "Podium Night" in Division 2 as only 4 drivers showed up. Hopefully some additional bodies will have the urge next weekend.

@racingchamp30 - Regardless of the grid size, congrats on your perfect night.

See you at the Car-Show

Looking very much forward to the RX7. It will make for a perfect SNAIL car, RWD around 300 HP.

Also, I'm so happy they added the takes a deep breath Renault Captur S Edition TCE 140 2021. Been waiting for this one since it came out in 2021. What a machine. In all seriousness, I've read somewhere that it takes close to six months for PD to model a car, imagine spending those 6 months painstakingly modeling every detail on a random boring french compact crossover. PD being PD I guess.

And now for the prize A pick:
Jaguar E-Type Coupé '61 (SH Tires) @ Fuji International Speedway Full Course Early Morning S01.
Mid div lap time: 2:03
Back up car: Renault Avantime 3.0 V6 24V '02 (Yes again, we have to race this french oddity once and for all)
@Dragonwhisky

There's the 93 EG Civic Type R in the UCD, I almost picked it as we never raced an EG Civic in SNAIL but considering the Alfa Mito survived last week, it would have been redundant to have 2 low powered FWD hatch in the line up. Bummer. The Jag is still fun and still looks breathtaking 65 years later. One of my all time favorite design. After the F Type, let's go back to the E Type. Quick tip: brake way earlier than you think you should and you'll be alright. Yes it has 4 gears but it doesn't reach top speed even in slipstream.

Fun fact, if you drive the EG Civic in cockpit view, you can clearly hear the VTEC crossover at 6000 RPM. The attention to detail from PD is amazing.

I detect some sarcasm in @Worst_Driver post regarding the Renault Captur. I don't get up for these SUV's in the game but I was exited when I saw this one the other day.

This car was one of our rentals 6 months ago when we were in France. I drove this thing from Avignon to Marseille to Nice and everywhere in between. I underestimated this bad boy at one point on a rural road leaving Arles "direction" Avignon, and the French Government thought it worthwhile to track me down in Niagara 2 months later to serve me the following:

LOL - So I advise my friend @Worst_Driver not to follow my lead. When I underestimated it, it costs me €45.

Wow @DRD_Niagara ! 4MPH over limit? WTF?

I once got a speeding ticket for 45MPH in a 35MPH zone. On a motorcycle I'd had to over 150MPH at various times. I almost fell off my bike laughing after the man gave me that ticket, and happily paid that fine.

Hey SNAILS, it's thursday practice again. lobby open at 9:15pm EST, first race at 9:30pm, all three combo run twice, 3/4 of Sunday distance with reverse grid.

It's the perfect time to familiarise with the group. Usually open mic chat with everyone who want to join to casual talk and even some tips from the fastest one.

This week sees my cars in Banff National Park. You may note the deviation from my usual red/white liveries. I've always had a thing for British sports cars and I feel they need to sport British Racing Green, even to the point of buying a purple(!) 1972 Triumph TR6 and immediately painting it British Racing Green. The TR6 wasn't the best car for a winter in Manitoba. Highway trips required a snowmobile suit as the air leaks at -30 celsius were brutal. 😅 And, yes the electricals were courtesy of Lucas, Prince of Darkness.

My entry to the Car-Show took me to Rome this week.

On March 15th, 44 BC Julius Caesar was assassinated by a group of senators during a Senate session. One of the lead conspirators was a close friend of his named Marcus Brutus. One of history's most significant quotes was utter by Julius upon leaning Brutus was in on the plot. "Et tu Brutus?"

I tried to recreate a Scape of my Renault Captur.

My status for Sunday: Questionable. But I'll update the D1 thread tomorrow at somepoint.

Liveries looking good as always and great job recreating your photo. Was yours a manual or auto ?

Unfortunately, looks unlikely I'll join in tonight's racing activities. Have fun with the Jaaaaag.

There was a pool in Thursday practice on whether you'd show up to race the car you picked. :sly:  😉
