Interested but I’m not available till 2100 your time.

Okay since @Skills is the first to show interest I am moving the start time to 9pm est. 2 makes a race but it would be great to have some more. The tire wear is neglectable but the fuel is only enough for about 26 minutes so some sort of fuel conservation is needed to avoid a double pit. That could be short shifting or fuel mapping. It is a beautiful track with a car that really grows on you.

I might be able to make it, but don't hold me to it.

I’ll try to make it especially with the 9pm eastern time

I better fire up my PlayStation with the remote play app.
I won't start without you.
Lobby is up. Anyone welcome. 10 in the lobby currently race has started.

Great race everyone. After 26 laps I feel pretty good about that combo. Sorry about the time being short at the end, forgot to set that for 180 seconds. Next time I will get that right because I was about to take @Kaeltho at the final straight!

@Chiochansan You had a great idea. Thanks for hosting.

It was a blast, you can get in the zone in a longer race and its not all about pure pace. We ran @DublDee, @DefInfinity and I for the first third of the race and then Dee had to refuel and then myself and last came Def in the pits. For sure, Def is the champion of fuel saving, I was running on 4-6 fuel map but I was revving all the way to red line instead of short shifting a bit. Learned my lesson by watching the replay ;)

I Pitted in lap 12 thinking I would make it to the end. Dee came back on track, I wasted fuel on map 2-3 trying to keep up with him only to realize he had to pit another time so that left me on fuel preservation mode from there on.

Def overtook me 3-4 laps before the end, I had to stay on map 6 and short shift the hell of out my car. I was glad it ended on lap 26 for me, I had 1% fuel left to do another lap. Overall, it was a really fun race, the format makes it a bit different from our usual sunday night and its free practice for sunday night. Next time, I'll save more fuel.

I took some photos just for fun, so here they are. The morning to late evening transition is really something. It makes longer races much more immersive. GT7 has all the elements to make awesome races, how PD struggles to put in more single player events, championships and endurance races really baffles me.

@DefInfinity You are fast and clean I would certainly like to see you on track more often on our sunday nights.

Thanks to all who made it last night. My fuel strat was to short shift a 7000 rpm. A hard thing to do consistently when in the heat of battle but I knew if I didn't I would have to lose 50+ seconds on another pit stop. It was a sound stratagem but as the race went on I found I had more gas than anticipated and was able to sprint the last half of the event after pitting once. What was the tire wear like for controller users? @Kgffy The last half of the race I was running from Kgffy and trying to catch @Kaeltho, which evolved into a Touge drift night race as the tires wore down and the end drew to a close. I would like to do this every week and now for some pics...

@Chiochansan Thanks again for hosting/organizing this event, it was a really great night of racing and great to see the different strategies being played out. My only complaint about the whole night was a mistake I made in the pits…..I thought I had hit the x button to change tires and grabbed my drink and checked my phone quick, and then I was like “why is this pit stop taking so long”??? Then I noticed it was still waiting for me to hit the button to start the tire change!!!!😮
Anyway there was some close action and a ton of fun had by all!
*did anyone upload a replay? I’m interested to see how long I actually sat in the pits doing nothing, Lol.

Omg I’m an idiot, my pit crew was literally standing there looking at the car for 15 seconds, waiting on me….oh well it wasn’t a game changer or anything, just a dumb mistake lol.
Watching the replay this morning, there sure were some good battles that lasted for laps on end. We need to do these more often…..

Tire wear was very bad for me and I was slow not even saving fuel, if I tried to save would of been no fun for me. Was fun learning the track.

My race tyres have somewhere around 1800 laps last year, and still going. Over 1000 of those laps on one of the tracks that notoriously wears tyres. The wear in the game gets pretty silly quickly above 1x, and even 1x wears way faster than anything I've ever experienced. I do run a very long lasting tyre that is unique in that is affected less by heat cycles than others, and as such is known to be fastest right before they are done. And my car is fairly light at about 2450lbs on track. Still, even the stickiest of the icky purp is at peak for ~100 laps on a production car assuming a typical track and not Nurburgring or Daytona, etc. They're in their prime use window off peak for another 100 laps or so, and they're still good for another 200 before they typically get sold as take offs to a trackday or autocrosser.

On the other hand, you can chew a set of all seasons in a day on a camber challenged heavy fwd, but that's not what is going on in GT7.

Still, because wear affects the breakaway characteristics and grip loss when overdriving, I don't drive without it on 1x.

I ran my car at Sebring for 2 yrs on the same set of tires. And it was my daily driver too. Nice long wear track tires like Marcus.

Never had tires act like they do in GT when they get worn and red.
