Ran the second Daytona 2.4 today. Started 7th in my class with a field of 30 other RUF's and 12 Riley's.

Ended up pulling down a 2nd into class and 5th overall.

Probably hands down thee best race I've ever had. Super clean. Respectful passes by the Riley's as well the lapped traffic was respectful when you passed.

Got to see a guy blow his motor. That was freaking awesome. Bad luck but that's what happens when you over rev the engine down shifting.

Now that I'm over my post-race rage, I did have mostly a good time. Had a similar P/GT split in my group (was the top split I believe). Had some goon battles and some not so good battles.

Reminded me why I don't race iRacing much anymore though. In the high iRating crowd, most drivers are very focused on stats and cares less about good clean hard racing and having fun. 15 minutes in and people were blocking draft passes on the high banks... just stupid. And the proto drivers were quite impatient for the most part.

Also, I don't like how they seed the fields in these big one off events. There were almost 600 drivers in the race last night and I was placed in the top field of 43 based on my iRating (earned long ago when I raced iRacing a lot). My pace was in no way deserving of being up there. For non-regular series they really should seed by qualifying time.

As it was I started 20th in class, worked my way up to 6th, but miscalculated my pit stops and had to take an extra, leaving me in 11th before I was DQed for one too many dropped wheels in the grass.

Track boundries are horribly inconsistent and they're based off the center of your car, not wheels. Some corners you can take a whole ton of kerb and others you'll get a penalty for dipping only one wheel off track.

Ok ranting over, looking forward to the races tonight!

@Schmiggz, or whoever is hosting D3 tonight. If you are running a friends only room, could you please get a request out to x3n0-asx and PTslopoke. If D4 happens to reach capacity tonight those are the two drivers that will be promoted on the spot to D3.

@nmcp1, could you also add vincentq4 as he would be the driver to move up if D3 were to fill.

These are the two divisions that are most likely to reach past 16 drivers showing up. It doesn't appear to be very likely, but I'm covering the bases now so that any moves can be made smoothly and without having to shut down and restart a room.

Attention All Replay Uploaders and Data Specialists

Tonight is the last League night for the January season. Next week is going to be a very busy week sorting out all of the promotion and relegation duties. With so much growth over the last month, there will be quite a bit more work going over all of the details to make sure that everyone is placed in a division that is as close to their skill level as possible.

If you are the official replay uploader for your division, we are asking that you have all of your replays uploaded no later than Monday night. Best case would be to upload them right after the races tonight or as early Monday as possible. Our Chief Steward @Dragonwhisky has offered 6 of his $hells for those who have their replays up by early Monday. If the primary uploader is unavailable tonight, the $hells will be paid to the back up.

If you are the official data specialist for your division, we need to see all of the data entered by Tuesday evening. I understand there are issues with replays not working. (I got snuffed bad last week) but please do the best you can. I will match Dragons offer and pay 6 $hells to any D.S. that has data entered by Tuesday evening.

This stuff is very important to the promotion/relegation decision making process and the earlier we have the information available, the more time the administration has to go over the details. Thanks you all in advance and good luck tonight!!

To add on to what ExoSphere64 said about replays. It doesn't matter if the replay is working on your machine or not. Just upload all six races and the stewards can play the lottery with them. Just because they don't work on your machine, doesn't mean they won't work on another.

Data is hugely important when it comes to division placement and movement in between seasons. The more data that is there to use, the more accurate we can be in getting drivers into the correct division. Some guys are great at a time trial but aren't nearly as fast in a group and some guys can't run a time trial to save their lives but are much better in the race. Data from races gives us a more complete picture of what is going on in the races.

Not sure if this would make life easier for the Admins. However I figured it to be worth linking and letting you guys look.

Fizzer that stinks man. Both days I races were great. No issues with the inc for me. I did out in a bit of practice. I had like three offs one race and five the other.

Gained a ton of SR though. Sitting at 4.67. So once I do four TT I'll fast track to a B license.

Been there and tried racepointsmanager. It is a cool service but the lack of support for the Gran Turismo series was kind of a deal breaker. A league I was an admin for long ago used it and it worked very well as long as you were playing a game that was supported by the site. GT5p and GT5 were not supported and it appears that GT6 is not supported at this time. The ability to upload your results directly is a great feature but it doesn't work if the game isn't supported and then you end up having to manually enter everything. We already do that here as the races are happening and then everything else is taken from that sheet to populate all our other sheets that we need.

Maybe we should package and market our system as it is actually easier to use than racepointsmanager for non supported games.

@zer05ive and @kcheeb I been tryin' a tell youse guys.

If I could get the whole thing to a point where it was plug and play that would be kind of cool. But, there's still a bit of background fiddling I have to do when we go from Week to Week, Season to Season or we start a new Challenge. To have to support another group using it could get, erm, troublesome.

And a spreadsheet magician never gives away his secrets.
I just made this gif.

Hello West Coast and other SNAILs

We will be racing again this week in a Public lobby although this will probably be the last time before we go to a friends only room. We could have a fair number of dedicated West coast racers (10+) tonight so if you plan to join us from one of the regular divisions be aware that we may need to make space available. Priority will be given to people who have not raced earlier in the evening. If you plan on joining us from please keep the following in mind:

1. Please do not set a qualifying time
2. We will only be scoring results for the dedicated West Coast members

Lastly while we are all SNAIL and we always expect clean racing just remember that those of us in the WC division are racing each other for points. If you make a mistake an take someone out you might prevent them from winning a championship. If this happens in your normal division then a penalty can be filed against you and you can have a penalty applied to your evening. If you are taking part in the WC division from another Division we can not assess this penalty against your results. For this reason please make sure that you do not unduly affect those in the WC division.

With that being said we have loved having you guys join us and do not want to discourage you from joining and so far we have not had an issue.

Joby

Screw iRacing, I'm not renewing my subscription anymore... DQ'd due to random track boundries and a dumb incident system after 2.3 hours of racing in the daytona 2.4. I never rage over video games, but dang that makes me want to punch a kitten.

I hear good things about Asetto Corsa... and of course I'll still be playing GT :)
nice ive wondered about i racing over the years, various reasons i did not join, glad i missed nothing. glad i found snail

FR sent and accepted 👍 Thanks @varga / vincentq4

Are the pp/HP values for the rocket correct in the 2nd post main page? I'm sitting here with 548pp @ 153hp
I've oiled changed and rebuilt the engine.

So somehow I've been running with the power limiter set at 88%. Just tested and it will allow you to enter a tunig prohibited race. I feel like a dumb dumb.

Looks like I'll be hosting D5 tonight.

Anything I need to know other than setting everything up? I have hosted practice lobbies before, but never a division race night.

Sounds like Gran Turismo.
