I just picked up a G27 while logitech had them on sale... needed a better cockpit than i had for my DFP, but I didn't want to spend a lot. This is my $0 build (well, if you dont count the wheel). Seat is out of my buddy's Miata race car, materials were lying around the house. Let me know what you think.

Nice start! ... in my experience, its quite hard to stop once you've begun building. I'm looking forward to seeing where your project will end up. Luckily you have got plenty of time before GT5 to make adjustments and possible add some tactile feedback or whatever you fancy. ;)
 
Nicely done! The main thing is that it's sturdy enough to handle the full on racing that will be coming its way, which yours looks like it is:)
 
Yep, I'm currently thinking of how I can cover the whole thing (aside from just painting it). Will update the thread if I end up changing anything. I've been using it for a while now and its really comfortable/durable. Very pleased...
 
My god, how short are your legs!!! Only joking, I have a similar set-up of a gaming chair (x-rocker), an old coffee table and a LCD TV on a small chest of drawers, yours does look more comfortable though!
 
I love seeing home-made builds. That's how things get invented and sold mainstream. I just buy the branded stuff because I'm too lazy to make things.
