I know this probably isn't the best comparison and may have been done before. Most of you most likely know this already, but here goes anyway. I haven't played GT4 in a while and was kind of bored. I decided to compare these two cars after using the Viper SRT-10 to do another Supercar Series race. I found myself always beating the SLR rather easily (I know, dumb AI) but this got me wondering what the SLR was really capable of next to a Viper SRT-10. I've got both the black and silver one in my garage and like the SLR. The two test cars I used were both bone stock. I gave them a wash and oil change to keep things fair. I also used a manual transmission and the driving aids. I did a lap around the Nurburgring, Infineon Sports Car Course, Test Course, and the Las Vegas 1/4 mile drag strip. This is what I get for 610,000 credits.
'03 Dodge Viper SRT-10
Price: 84,880
Lap Times
Nurburgring: 7'32.740
Infineon Sports Car Course: 1'41.303
Test Course: 1'56.265
Las Vegas 1/4 mile drag strip: 0'11.885
Mercedes Benz SLR McLaren
Price: 610,000
Lap Times
Nurburgring: 7'17.150
Infineon Sports Car Course: 1'38.843
Test Course: 1'48.988
Las Vegas 1/4 mile drag strip: 0'11.432
These times probably aren't the best out there, but I did it for the fun of it and did make a goof here and there but not too much. I knew the SLR would be the dominate car, but what surprised me is it didn't lead by that much say for the Nurburgring. I think the Viper handles a little better than the SLR. I like to keep my cars stock, but with a few modifications the Viper could beat the SLR. I'm not bashing the SLR or anything, don't get me wrong I really like the car, but this little test did surprise me.
